Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

@peardeer Congratulations! Hope you’re recovering ok from the c section.

Your little girl is normal - babies want to be held and kept close, it’s a survival instinct. Are you breastfeeding? If so I’d highly recommend practicing feeding lying down - it’s a bit tricky to get the hang of at first, and gets easier as baby gets bigger and more effective at feeding, but it’s a life saver. It also means when baby falls asleep at the breast, they are already lying down and you can roll away.

would you consider cosleeping on same slee surface (ie have baby in your bed rather than in next2me?). They can often settle better if they are physically in contact with you. Look at safer cosleeping practices. It can also get them used to then going into next2me (my son spent first few nights cosleeping and is now settling into next2me for sections of the night). You can also try things like white noise as some babies find nighttime too quiet.

You can also try a “love to dream” swaddle-up sleep sack. It’s a bit like a swaddle but let’s baby have arms by their face for natural sucking on fingers, but can help suppress the startle reflex.

@peardeer how are you getting on?

Any more babies arrive yet?

Hello everyone! My baby girl arrived last Saturday after we needed to have an emergency induction because I developed pre-eclampsia. We are now both very well but we had a bit of a rocky start so we are still at the hospital until the end of the week!

peardeer · 29/10/2024 12:24

@2mumlife thank you for all your suggestions, I appreciate it so much. We had high hopes for the swaddle bag but she didn't take to it. She has been super snuffly though so going to try it again when she is feeling better to see if she likes it then as she often sleeps with her arms around her face so I think she will like it. We did manage to get her down in the Moses basket twice last night for around an hour each time. I know we still have a long way to go but it felt like a huge step! Was the first time we were all asleep at the same time and she's two weeks old tomorrow. Trying really hard to correct her day / night confusion at the minute

my girl is called Freya Azize 💗 my husband is Turkish and Azize is Turkish which means precious and beloved

@Francesmalin Congratulations!!! I’m sos prey to hear you developed preeclampsia, hope you’re both doing ok, it’s miserable being stuck in the hospital. Hope you can get home soon xxxx

@peardeer Freya is a beautiful name (it’s one of the names we considered for our daughter). That’s great you managed to get her settled in the Moses basket for a bit. It’s still super early days and she’ll still be adjusting to life outside of the womb, but important you get some rest too xxx

Hello! How is everyone doing? Just wondering if you have any recommendations for breast pumps?

2mumlife · 05/11/2024 10:48

@Francesmalin Not a breast pump (hated them and never worked for me) but I use a Haaka milk collector and suction "pump" - its not really a pump as works by suction only, no stimulation, but it works well if you are only looking to collect smaller amounts eg occasional bottle feeds. I use them to express milk on the breast I cant feed from due inverted nipple (neither of my babies have got the hang of latching on that side and nipple shields don't work for me. I leak like mad though when im feeding on other side so milk collector has always worked well, and this time using pump too to build a small stash and try to keep supply going whilst i see if i can get this babe to figure out latching on that side)

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

I wanted to ask if any of you are dealing with cradle cap and what are you doing to solve it or make it better? I am reading all sorts on the internet 😁

Thank you

2mumlife · 11/12/2024 06:04

@Francesmalin Hey! We’re good. Just reading this doing a feed with my toddler asleep in bed next to me which about sums it up at the moment! DS is a chunky beast, and such a different character to his sister. Had his first vaccines today and he’s still been smiling away!

My DD had cradle cap. Best remedy is bathing with breastmilk in the water if you can. You can use breastmilk that’s not useable for drinking (ie left in a bottle after feed for example). Or if you expressed colostrum rubbing that on head. They grow out of it in time and it never bothered DD just doesn’t look the best. I’d try not to poke it too much - removing it too aggressively can cause wounds and infection x

Hope you’re doing well otherwise!
