Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

Thanks @2mumlife I'll look into it.

LuxeBiscuit · 14/03/2024 09:58

@Custard7891 I had my booking app yesterday and the blood tests results came back the same day (very impressed).

Mine shows low haematocrit, haemoglobin and mean cell volume, indicating anaemia. I've checked the levels and they're all just below average (0.35 vs 0.36 for eg).

I've been anaemic all my adult life so it's no surprise. I'm assuming the midwife will call me but I think I'll pop to boots to get some iron tablets.

Custard7891 · 14/03/2024 10:11

@LuxeBiscuit that's good you didn't really have to wait for your results! I'll be interested to see what mine say. Did the booking appointment go ok?

LuxeBiscuit · 14/03/2024 11:23

@Custard7891 the midwife asked a lot of questions about family medical history, my history and lifestyle. It took about an hour - not the most exciting time but it was a good opportunity to ask questions.

If you have a partner and they're not going with you, it's worth checking their family's history beforehand. I also had to provide a urine sample so would suggest drinking water beforehand.

I hope yours goes well.

2mumlife · 14/03/2024 11:28

@Custard7891 I really wouldn't both taking partner, its really boring

@LuxeBiscuit I think I just got a call from my GP telling me to pick up the iron prescription, can't quite remember....

@2mumlife @LuxeBiscuit going to take partner so he can ask any questions he might have, and also so we can go out for breakfast after as a treat 😊

2mumlife · 14/03/2024 14:30

@Custard7891 Just be prepared they will then try to ask you if you’re experiencing domestic violence by getting you out the room
at one point (probably to be weighed). It’s a question they have to ask x

Custard7891 · 14/03/2024 14:32

@2mumlife oh they already asked a few questions like that on the phone when they booked the appointment. I completely understand why they'd ask these things.

2mumlife · 14/03/2024 14:33

@Custard7891 p.s lovely idea to go for breakfast but I’d still make sure you eat something even if it’s just a slice of toast as it’s a fair bit of blood they need to take, just so you’re not feeling dizzy (or starving!)

Custard7891 · 14/03/2024 14:41

Yeah I'll have a first breakfast @2mumlife 😂And lots of water.

2mumlife · 14/03/2024 15:12

@Custard7891 Im now fantasising about breakfast food (mmm eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes!)

Has anyone had their symptoms vanish at 9 weeks? I know the placenta starts to take over around this time but I thought there would be a gradual decrease in symptoms.

TheYorkshirePudding · 15/03/2024 06:44

@LuxeBiscuit I’ve had moments where I’ve felt normal for a few hours at a time, no symptoms at all, but then the symptoms come flooding back. It makes me panic every time. I was also worried when my appetite came back. I think it’s normal that they fluctuate. It’s just so difficult when you’ve been through a lot to get to this point; I think IVF-ers notice more with their bodies too.

2mumlife · 15/03/2024 06:50

@LuxeBiscuit In my experience with DD symptoms fluctuate. My partner used to dispair that I was worried about feeling ok for a day 😂

LuxeBiscuit · 15/03/2024 11:47

@TheYorkshirePudding @2mumlife thanks. Symptoms do seem to fluctuate as I feel slightly nauseas today.

Francesmalin · 15/03/2024 11:48

After one week of being constantly sick, not having symptoms for few hours seems like a miracle! ☺️

Custard7891 · 18/03/2024 11:03

@LuxeBiscuit I still have no symptoms other than sore boobs at 9w5d 😂 I've had waves of increased hunger which have come and gone. My energy levels seem about the same as normal. I want my dating scan to hurry up so I can see the baby again and maybe start believing what's happening 😂

How's everyone doing today?

LuxeBiscuit · 18/03/2024 12:21

@Custard7891 oh you've been lucky! I had nausea and was throwing up daily for 3 weeks.

How long until your dating scan? Mine is 2 weeks on Thursday.

Custard7891 · 18/03/2024 12:40

@LuxeBiscuit poor you. It's so interesting/strange how different people get such different symptoms. They've given me 10th April and I'll be 13w then.

2mumlife · 18/03/2024 14:29

@Custard7891 You lucky sod!!! I've not thrown up now for awhile but I'll still completely exhausted, still all over the place with food and still having real aversions to certain things. I can't wait to (hopefully, please dear god) getting some energy back and feeling a bit more like myself soon. Still 2 weeks from scan date here, dragging along.

Custard7891 · 18/03/2024 14:34

Hope you feel better soon @2mumlife. Maybe I'll have it worse for the 2nd or 3rd trimester, who knows.

2mumlife · 18/03/2024 16:05

@Custard7891 Thank you :) Och I hope you continue to feel good the whole way!

Francesmalin · 18/03/2024 18:14

I had a glorious weekend with little to no nausea but today I am paying for it! Next week we are doing another US to check if the hematoma is absorbing! Very curious to see how big baby is after 2 weeks!

Custard7891 · 21/03/2024 17:02

Blood results back today and no concerns, iron levels are very good, but they apparently didn't receive the vial for the blood grouping/rhesus type test so have to go back again for another test. I've finished Cyclogest today at 10w1d (my clinic advised me to take it up to 10w) so here's hoping my body takes over with the progesterone now by itself. Hope everyone is doing good 😊

LuxeBiscuit · 21/03/2024 18:41

@Custard7891 good news that your bloods came back okay but annoying that you need to go back. Did you have a urine test?

My bloods were fine (slightly anemic but I knew that). My urine had elevated bacteria so I'm on a 3 day course of antibiotics.

No one has actually spoken to me about the urine results but I saw it in my app and was a bit concerned. Couldn't get a hold of a midwife so I went straight to my GP clinic and fortunately got to see a doctor who prescribed the antibiotics.
