Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

@LuxeBiscuit thank you, and to you 😊 I've felt very mildly nauseous the last couple of mornings but thankfully it hasn't developed any more than that and a little snack has solved it.

@Lindyloolou it sounds like a bit of a stressful time for you, but it's good they checked you over. As you say, take each day as it comes.

LuxeBiscuit · 26/02/2024 16:40

@Lindyloolou sorry to hear about the ongoing bleeding but it seems positive that you heard both heat beats.

I know absolutely nothing about it but I remember reading about subchorionic haematomas causing bright red bleeding during pregnancy.

IVF23 · 26/02/2024 17:02

Amazing news @LuxeBiscuit and @Custard7891 🥰🥰

@Lindyloolou I’m glad they were able to give you a scan and that there were 2 little heartbeats! Sorry to hear about the ongoing bleeding though, it must be so stressful. Is your next scan still under the clinic next week? Taking each day at time sounds like a good idea and I’ve found has really helped me.

My symptoms have really eased off, well particularly the nausea. I had a scan on Saturday that was all good, but still worrying myself 🤦🏼‍♀️ I have been googling though and apparently it’s very normal for them to improve at 10 weeks because of the placenta taking over, so just trying to keep telling myself that. NHS dating scan is 2 weeks on Wednesday!

Onedayatatime7 · 26/02/2024 17:19

@Lindyloolou I don’t know if this gives you any reassurance (and sorry for crashing your October thread but there doesn’t seem to be one for IVF/FET for August so I’m lurking) but I had bright red blood all down my legs and on the floor at 6+6. Subsequent scans showed a large SCH but by 10+6 it had halved in size and its healing. I’m now 13+3 and (touch wood) everything looks good. When I was desperately googling I found that lots of people with SCH take ALAs - there are some trials that show it speeds up resolution of SCH and symptoms (you’ll find them if you look online). I don’t know if it’s made a difference but it might be worth a try - it at least made be feel like I was doing something! Otherwise I was told to take it easy (pelvic rest) and I’m on progesterone until 16 weeks…

IskaPiska · 27/02/2024 10:17

Hi ladies! How is everyone today?
Hope it's OK to join you.
I'm now 7+4 days and had our 1st scan yesterday and saw the little heartbeat 💓, such a relief...for now! Still can't believe it's real!

Think I'm going to book 2 more scans in before my nhs one which isn't until early April and feels like a lifetime away.

Nice to have an IVF group 😊

I've not told my parents yet and wondering when people tend to tell them? They dont know I've done IVF as i wanted to be able to surprise them one day. First pregnancy and I'm 38 soon.

Blossomofhope · 27/02/2024 11:35

@IskaPiska Thats wonderful news. I’m planning to wait till 12 weeks.

how’s everyone getting on? All has been fine here except I had a bright red bleed this morning which has obviously terrified me. I have my 7 week scan later, I really hope all is ok. I feel like emotions are so much higher when you’ve been through IVF to get to this point. I’ve a friend who is pregnant and so chill carrying on life as normal. I’m so cautious with where I go and what I do. Just want this to work out. ❤️

IskaPiska · 27/02/2024 11:46

@Blossomofhope thank you! Best wishes for your scan later and hopefully this bleed is nothing to worry about. You hear about lots of people having bleeds and all being totally fine. I know how scary it is though, I kept bursting into tears yesterday...such an emotional time.

12 weeks is prob a good idea, I just don't know if I can keep the secret from them much longer 🙈

Blossomofhope · 27/02/2024 11:55

Thank you @IskaPiska
I know it’s so hard to keep quiet. I guess from my pov when I tell family I just want them to be happy and not worry about how early it is. But I know everyone is different.

Ya thanks, I so hope it’s harmless

SeaBridge · 27/02/2024 14:32

Congrats @IskaPiska and everyone else who's had scans recently! I've now booked a 9-week one to tide me over, but the second I booked it I felt anxious 😫

@Blossomofhope let us know how you get on: bleeding is so common in IVF pregnancies and I've heard tons of women say they had it, but I know it's still such a worry. Knicker-checking should be a sport! Hopefully your scan will give you some reassurance.

All OK here: I've been hungry and thirsty these past few days, and getting out at night to wee, but otherwise no symptoms. How many of you have booked in with the NHS? I'm finding it so hard to believe this is happening I haven't done it yet, as I'm constantly protecting myself if the worst should happen. Hopefully as time passes it'll get easier, but I'm so conditioned to be cautious that it's hard to stay optimistic at times.

Blossomofhope · 27/02/2024 15:58

Bad news from me today unfortunately. They found an empty gestational sac 😔 .. I’m so devastated. I don’t think I can go through another round of ivf. I have to go back next week to scan again which seems so cruel when there’s basically no hope.

SeaBridge · 27/02/2024 16:07

Ohh@Blossomofhope I'm so very sorry you're going through this. I've been in your shoes and it's devastating. Please take the time to grieve and be kind to yourself, take time off work if that's possible and just feel all the feelings. It's too soon to think about doing another round, so just give yourself time. The best advice I had from a friend when this happened to me is:

"Let the waves crash over you, or wash over you. Let it flow as it has to. As long as you turn towards each other, you will come through. And turn outward whenever you can."

Lots of love and strength to you x

Blossomofhope · 27/02/2024 16:13

Thank you so much @SeaBridge .. Did you have any success after?
I told work I need to take the rest of the day sick, it’s so hard having something like this going on and pretending with work all is fine.

Custard7891 · 27/02/2024 16:32

I'm so sorry@Blossomofhope😢sending love xx

@IskaPiska I'm trying to decide when to tell people too. My inlaws have no idea we've done treatment but they're away until the 12 week mark anyway so might wait until they're back. But at the same time I'm desperate to tell my parents as they know about the treatment and my mum is probably going mad wondering the outcome of this transfer!

SeaBridge · 27/02/2024 16:47

@Blossomofhope so something similar happened to me in my last round (the first we'd tried with donor eggs) - we went for a scan at five weeks as I had bleeding. There was a sac and pole but no heartbeat. They got us back the next week but still no heartbeat, and I miscarried a week later. We then decided to change clinic, as we had a lot of bad memories tied up with that clinic and were treated quite badly. We decided to go to Greece, and I'm currently 7 weeks 5 days from my first donor transfer there. Are you comfortable telling work what's happened? As if so, could you perhaps take some more time off to process everything? Being in limbo for me was the toughest part.

LuxeBiscuit · 27/02/2024 17:34

@Blossomofhope I'm so, so sorry. Take time to grieve. It may be worth letting your manager know if you need more time off x

IVF23 · 27/02/2024 17:36

I’m so so sorry to hear this @Blossomofhope . Life can be so cruel. Take the time you need and look after yourself xx

IVF23 · 27/02/2024 17:39

@IskaPiska welcome! I haven’t told my mum or my in laws yet, planning to around 16 weeks I think. They don’t know about ivf either.

@Onedayatatime7 just to say I am also not due in October (due in Sept) but joined as there wasn’t an ivf group for September and I think it’s nice sharing with other IVFers!

I had my booking appointment today so it’s feeling more real now. My nhs dating scan is 2 weeks tomorrow 😬

2mumlife · 28/02/2024 12:14

@Custard7891 Great to hear your early scan was good :)

@Lindyloolou I'm sorry to hear you've still got ongoing bleeding going on, but great that there are two heartbeats still there. I know it must be frustrating not knowing where the bleeding is coming from. Poor DH - you will both manage whatever the outcome is. How are you feeling about the prospect of twins?

@IVF23 Try to embrace the relief of symptoms easing off if you can. Not long until your 12 week scan!

@IskaPiska Welcome to the thread! With my first pregnancy we didn't tell folks until 16 weeks as wanted to be cautious. This time I'd tell people if everything is ok at the 12 week scan, though my parents are away, so will probably end up having to tell them over a whatsapp video call (they've gone and booked to go out to their holiday home right when I'm due, so I know they'd probably want to change travel plans to be in the UK).

@SeaBridge Definitely get booked in with NHS as it can really delay your 12 week scan if you don't (I know from last pregnancy). I've got my booking in appointment on Monday just before 9 weeks, and my 12 weeks scan just before I'm 13 weeks, and that was with telling midwife about pregnancy pretty quickly.

@Blossomofhope I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. I hope the management is quick and easy. Take some time for yourself to recover emotionally. I had a CP right before my BFP last time, so I do think sometimes these false hopes can be the thing before the real deal x

Everything is ok here. I started some anti-heartburn meds which have massively improved my symptoms. I ended up on them towards the end of pregnancy last time. I'll do a trial coming back off them next week maybe and see if I can manage without as I don't really want to be on them the whole pregnancy. Its so good though to have some relief. I've had odd small bits of bleeding so been considering booking in a private reassurance scan but will see.

Custard7891 · 29/02/2024 10:38

Thanks @2mumlife. I'm 7w1d today and I registered the pregnancy this morning on the website for my area. The clinic told me to ring the doctor, so I did that and the reception said they'd send me the link to self register. The link I was then sent was just an information page and I still had no clue where to go, so I rang the community midwife number and left a message and they got back to me the next day explaining what to do. I'm hoping everything will run smoothly and I'll get appointments etc when I should...

IVF23 · 29/02/2024 10:49

Thanks @2mumlife . They’re back now haha but at least I got a little bit of respite!

2mumlife · 29/02/2024 17:00

@Custard7891 Sorry you had to chase people around the place to get registered - good you're in the system now :)

Hello everyone, I am also joining the gang although I am a bit behind you all as I have just started week 5.
Can I ask you what your beta level was around week 5? It seems like my beta are quite high for week 5 and the level has more than tripled in 3 days and my consultant wants me to do a very early scan to check what's going on.

IVF23 · 01/03/2024 13:04

Welcome and congratulations @Francesmalin . I can’t help with this sorry, my clinic doesn’t do beta tests so I never had my levels recorded.

LuxeBiscuit · 01/03/2024 13:16

Hi ladies, can I ask if everyone is on progesterone supplements / pessaries?

Being too tired to leave the house means I've spent loads of time googling and came across the luteal- placental shift that happens between 6-9 weeks. It seems that progesterone levels dip slightly which can result in spotting, which I've had. The spotting seems to stop once I use a pessary.

IVF23 · 01/03/2024 14:00

@LuxeBiscuit I am on progesterone pessaries and my clinic said to stop these at 8 weeks because of the luteal-placenta shift as you say. I did however have some packets left so I’ve continued with them until I run out, which the clinic said is fine. I’ll be stopping at 11+2 on Tuesday next week.
