Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

@IVF23 thanks for checking in! The bleeding comes and goes but it Free we did the scan today the nurse said the it's just a very irritated cervix. I got a hematoma because of the bleed so they will check on my in 2 weeks!

The good news is that the baby is safe and sound in the oven and we so the heartbeat! So so emotional!

When do people usually come off all the medication? My clinic is abroad but they haven't mentioned anything!

Also for those with nausea, do you have any tricks? Mine just started and it's really debilitating! 😅

LuxeBiscuit · 11/03/2024 22:38

@Francesmalin great news that baby is safe!

I'm only on progesterone as I had a natural cycle. My clinic said to stop at 12 weeks. From reading, it seems like the placenta starts producing progesterone between weeks 8-10 so I'm not concerned.

TheYorkshirePudding · 12/03/2024 06:59

@IVF23 glad to hear you had no problems after stopping your meds! Let us know how Wednesday goes.

@Francesmalin I’m constantly nauseous and have been since the start of the medicated transfer in December. I’m with you on it being debilitating! Eat what you fancy when you’re hungry, try 6 smaller meals/snacks so you don’t feel sick and too full afterwards. I sip cold water with lemon slices in too.

@LuxeBiscuit How many progesterone are you taking and when’s your 12 week stop date?

LuxeBiscuit · 12/03/2024 08:26

@TheYorkshirePudding I'm taking 3 x 200mg utrogestan a day. I have my booking in appointment tomorrow so I'm going to ask the midwife if she thinks I should reduce or just stop taking them at once. I'll report back.

12 weeks is just after Easter.

@Francesmalin I found see sickness bands helped with the motion sickness part of nausea. I've still been sick once a day but it definitely helped me to function.

Custard7891 · 12/03/2024 09:18

@Francesmalin I'm on Cyclogest 400 twice a day up until 10 weeks. I've not had any MCs before, but 10 weeks was the standard advice from my clinic following an embryo transfer. I'm a bit nervous about stopping it, but I will double check with the midwife at my booking appointment this Saturday. I'll be 9w3d at my booking appointment and only have supply until 10w.

Sickness wise I've only felt mildly nauseous a few mornings around 7w, but found it sorted itself after eating something. I also began taking a vitamin B6 supplement around that time alongside the vitamin D and folic acid I'd already been taking, and the sickness hasn't developed any further. So I'm unsure if the B6 has helped or if I've just been fortunate not to get sick.

Francesmalin · 12/03/2024 09:23

The nurse that scanned me yesterday said that they recommend taking progesterone until week 16! It seems a bit unusual! I will check with the midwife once we have the appointment booked!

2mumlife · 12/03/2024 12:10

@Sammyma How is the bleeding now? Hope your scan goes well tomorrow. I've been finding the pessaries alright this time around other than a bit on constipation 😣

@TheYorkshirePudding Congratulations! I think it becomes easier to be happy/excited once the first trimester is over (physically and emotionally!). Try not to worry about coming of meds, my experience is its always really uneventful. If you have any 'extra' meds I know others in the past have slightly staggered stopping meds to make themselves feel better. I've been struggling to keep all my estradiol down so I'm already basically lowered that dosage 😬Your placenta kicks in a few weeks before they normally recommend stopping the meds

@IVF23 Best of luck for your scan tomorrow :)

Yeah the clinic did say that sometimes it's 16 weeks, but I don't really know how/when they decide you should continue from 10 to 16 weeks. Maybe the blood results from my booking appointment this Saturday will confirm what I need??

Sammyma · 12/03/2024 17:51

@2mumlife no bleeding, just a colour change of discharge (beige/light brown) not much at all, I probably wouldn’t notice the colour change if I wasn’t wearing a pantie liner.
Thank you for kind words. Fingers crossed for tomorrow and for anyone else going for a scan too.
it’s the first time going back to the EPU since my ectopic, so I’m hoping this time I can walk out with good news🤞

Sammyma · 12/03/2024 17:54

What supplements is everyone taking, for example, just folic acid, or pregnancy care vitamins?
The reason I ask is because my discharge only changes a couple of days after starting ‘pregnancy care plus’.

I remember using the conception vitamins from the same range previously and it completely messed up my cycle.

APSR · 12/03/2024 19:39

Hi all. 7w2d after fet. What all medications are you all on ? And when does the wean off start? I’m on a lot of medications now - progynova/patch/steroid/progesterone. Have been asked to take a few till8-9 week and some till 11 weeks. Really anxious about the thought of stopping the medications.

Custard7891 · 12/03/2024 20:48

@Sammyma when TTC I tried a pregnancy all in one vitamin but found they gave me leg cramps at night. The tablets were also massive which I hate, so I didn't bother with those again. I'm just on folic acid and vitamin D on advice from the clinic, but from week 7 I also independently decided to start taking vitamin B6 for the promise of energy/anti sickness.

IVF23 · 12/03/2024 20:54

@Francesmalin so glad little baby is doing well. I was told to stop Progesterone (Cyclogest 400mg x 2) at 8 weeks, but I had a few weeks left over so I stopped taking at 11 weeks. Sorry to hear you’ve had bad nausea, mine has been awful too. Little food & often, sparkling water with lots of ice and lemon and salty food helped a bit, but to be honest I didn’t find anything that helped significantly! Mine seems to be starting to ease now 🤞🏻

@Sammyma best of luck tomorrow 🤞🏻 I’m taking the Proceive supplements. I used the conception ones so just thought I’d carry on with them. Also taking high dose vitamin d as I’ve have had issues with it before.

thank you @TheYorkshirePudding @2mumlife feeling very anxious!

confuzzzzzled · 12/03/2024 20:58

Anyone else suffering with severe sickness? I’ve been really nauseous since about 5w, but now at 8 and a half weeks I can’t even keep a glass of water down😪. GP has prescribed cyclizine which hasn’t worked at all apart from making me incredibly drowsy. Just wondered how bad it has to get before I go to hospital? I’ve only had a wee twice today and feel so out of it, which is v unusual for me!

TheYorkshirePudding · 12/03/2024 21:13

@confuzzzzzled if you can’t keep sips of water down and you’ve only passed urine twice in a day that sounds like you’re dehydrated so you should probably get some more help.

@Custard7891 @Francesmalin I think the progesterone until 16 weeks comes from the Prism trial and isn’t specifically related to IVF but is about recurrent miscarriage and bleeding in early pregnancy.

I can’t wait to hear about everyone’s upcoming scans 🥰

Francesmalin · 12/03/2024 21:33

@Custard7891 @TheYorkshirePudding i am going to send an email to my clinic and ask when I should stop but I think I have another month to go!

@APSR I am taking the basic pregnacare (I think they are called original) and then I separately take omega3. I will also take choline from the 2nd trimester.

@IVF23 I have started doing that but let's see how it progresses. Ginger tea seems to help a lot with the nausea. I have read ice cubes are also good but I haven't tried. I have a big presentation happening in a couple of weeks so I might try with the acupressure if it helps me to concentrate

IVF23 · 13/03/2024 09:51

@Francesmalin fingers crossed it improves soon.

We had our 12 week scan this morning and all was well. It’s crazy how much they’ve grown and look like a full human now 🥰

@IVF23 such a cute scan!! It must be a relief.

TheYorkshirePudding · 13/03/2024 13:51

@IVF23 Amazing! I bet it was emotional ❤️ I cant wait to see mine now.. I really wish they’d invent a little window 😂

Sammyma · 13/03/2024 17:19

@IVF23 how wonderful! Congratulations.💕

I had my scan too today. 9weeks- and it’s all good too and grown so much. It was lovely to see it wriggling around too.
The nurses told me not to worry about the brownish discharge (most likely irritation from the pessarys).

IVF23 · 13/03/2024 17:25

Thank you @LuxeBiscuit @Sammyma @TheYorkshirePudding ❤️

Great news @Sammyma ! Hopefully the spotting will ease once you can come off the pessaries

2mumlife · 13/03/2024 17:58

@Sammyma I take pregnecare supplements when I can stand to swallow them and a much smaller folic acid and vit D one on days I can’t stand the bigger one but I know others have had mixed experience with pregnecare. I took omega 3,6 and 9 supplements last time and will get on to taking them again this time once I can stomach pills more. I like having extra iron supplement as I don’t eat red meat and my iron stores aren’t great. Even with taking a vitamin with iron supplement I still ended up anaemic with my DD so I really strongly believe in taking the iron supplements throughout pregnancy.

@confuzzzzzled I’ve been really nauseous and vomiting this time around. Have you tried a proton pump inhibitor heartburn med like
omezeprozole (sorry spelling that wrong!) I found it helps as actually mild heartburn makes a big difference to my nausea levels. Also try having things like watermelon 🍉 I’m starting to ease off at 10 weeks and last time found by around 14-15 weeks I get back to my normal self and able to eat again.

@IVF23 Beautiful! Congrats on making it to the 12 week scan milestone!

confuzzzzzled · 13/03/2024 19:11

@2mumlife ooo thank you I’ll try that! I’m day 3 of cyclizine now and it seems to be kicking in, was only sick a tiny bit this morning and only been a bit nauseous this afternoon but I’m SO tired and spaced out, not sure which is worse!

Custard7891 · 13/03/2024 19:40

Congratulations @IVF23 😊

@2mumlife that's interesting about the iron supplements. I don't eat a lot of red meat so will be curious to know if I need to take these. I suppose they tell you if you're deficient when they do bloods? Having mine done Saturday.

2mumlife · 14/03/2024 06:52

@confuzzzzzled Glad the meds are starting to help a bit

@Custard7891 I’d really watch for symptoms of anaemia as they don’t give you a blood test that often. You’ll get 1 at booking in appointment and then you’ll had 1 at around 24 weeks last time and by that point my iron levels were totally depleted
