Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

Thank you @LuxeBiscuit

welcome @SeaBridge and congratulations! Great news about the viability scan, it’s so emotional isn’t it!

LuxeBiscuit · 23/02/2024 13:40

@2mumlife I was having a chat with a friend who has a newborn about how evolution has made women forget the struggle and pain of pregnancy / childbirth to keep the population going lol

Custard7891 · 22/02/2024 21:40

Ahh we're pretty much the same due date then as I think I'm 6+1. Our first round was unsuccessful too. I'm not feeling consciously anxious but my phone usage lately is through the roof so I think that's a sign I am 😂

@Custard7891 I know what you mean, I’m constantly googling. Ah that’s exciting we are around the same time - my scan is on Tuesday. I feel like a good scan will bring so much reassurance.

Custard7891 · 23/02/2024 17:11

@Blossomofhopeall the best for Tuesday 😊I've done another test and it was a strong line but I still don't really believe it 😂

Blossomofhope · 23/02/2024 17:33

@Custard7891 same I’m testing way too much. I haven’t been able to see the digital tests progress from 2-3 to 3+ but when I read about it online it seems lots of people have encountered that and everything has been fine. So I’m not testing with digital anymore 😂 Best of luck to you too!!! ❤️

Is anyone experiencing a similar sensation to follicles growing? I don’t know is it round ligament pain or is it too early? It’s not strong or anything. I’m more just curious - every sensation I’ve had has been on the same side.

2mumlife · 24/02/2024 09:05

@Custard7891 yeah I find this part not telling really hard, not actually because I want to share the news but I’m feeling so exhausted and nauseated and wish I could say it 😂

@SeaBridge Congratulations! I joined a general thread with DD and a) it’s so busy! And b) there are just some things that are a bit different with ivf pregnancies and the experience I think.

@LuxeBiscuit Very true. I do wonder about it as I keep saying I really didn’t mind the child birth but, it’s the first trimester and the week after birth which are the worst bits…. But then I do remember saying during birth I didn’t want to do it any more 😂 But genuinely I don’t think birth is that bad, it’s the aftermath I wasn’t prepared for (but more on that a different time)

@Blossomofhope I’d say too early for round ligament pain. Could just be generic implanatation / placenta settling in x

I’m 7+3 and absolutely dying from nausea and exhaustion. DP says it was the same with DD. I hit 3+ weeks on the CB digital I think at 18dp5dt but my hcg levels are pretty high again this pregnancy (might be why I’m suffering!).

Sorry to hear you’re struggling with nausea @2mumlife . Mine has been order bad but has started to ease the last 2 days. Not sure if it’ll come back though! Fingers crossed it won’t last too long for you

IVF23 · 24/02/2024 16:17

We had a scan today, measuring at 9 + 5. Very surreal sees bub wiggling around 🥰 It’s starting to look more human like now too!

Lindyloolou · 24/02/2024 16:54

@IVF23 congratulations! Hopefully you can relax a little now. Are you having many symptoms?

I had HcG checked after my bleeds (big one that was on Thursday) and it came back 5,000 which is level with doubling every 2-3 days since the one I had prior. If it is twins I’m not sure if that’s sufficient - sonographer wasn’t very forthcoming. Bleeding is more like very small spotting now thankfully. I just wish it would stop! My scan is on Thursday (I’ll be 6+4)- it’s going to be a looooong few days I expect. Having waves of nausea and tired (due to bouts of insomnia) - it’s funny as I’m pleased I’m feeling sick!

@Blossomofhope If it’s like a tightening feeling around your tummy, I get this and I did with my DD.

Good luck to everyone having scans this week! 🙏🏼

LuxeBiscuit · 24/02/2024 16:59

@2mumlife oh that sounds ominous and a bit scary lol. I won't ask any questions.

@IVF23 lovely scan!

IVF23 · 24/02/2024 17:15

Thank you @LuxeBiscuit @Lindyloolou . I’m definitely feeling a bit more relaxed now but will be on another anxious countdown to the nhs 12 week scan in 2.5 weeks! I really hope anxiety does start to reduce. Anyone who has been through ivf pregnancy before, did you feel anxious the whole pregnancy or did it start to go down the further you got?

@Lindyloolou So sorry to hear it’s been such a stressful time. I really hope you have some good news at the scan on Thursday 🤞🏻I have had quite bad nausea, tiredness, very sore boobs and insomnia. The nausea has eased over the last couple of days, but I do expect it’ll probably come back!

Lindyloolou · 24/02/2024 17:22

Thanks @IVF23 My previous IVF with DD I managed to calm the anxiety down come 12ish weeks - I built in a few private scans which helped. I also found a pregnancy yoga class and tried out some guided meditation with free Insight Timer app in the evening.

I think I would have been ok this time given I had a successful IVF Pg with DD but this bleeding issue and prospect of twins now has thrown a massive spanner in the anxiety works 🙈

2mumlife · 24/02/2024 18:17

@IVF23 Beautiful scan 🥰 I found the anxiety started to reduce after 12 weeks, and get properly like I could tell people and start to plan from around 16 weeks. I didn’t do private scans last time just not to get into the habit as I think it’s a hard habit to stop - but I also had a series of NHS scans between 12 and 20 weeks to keep an eye on my cervix (suspected short cervix due to LLETZ procedure previously), and then extra growth scans from 32 weeks onwards (policy at my hospital for ivf pregnancies, and seems to be pretty common guidance)

@Lindyloolou great that hcg is still going up. I guess it’s fairly common to loose 1 twin early on, which may be what’s happening x I’m sorry you’re still having spotting. I’ve had a bit of (TMI) mucusy blood this evening and it is worrying. Twins always terrified me, but you’ll manage whatever comes your way xx

2mumlife · 24/02/2024 18:19

@LuxeBiscuit Ill save the birth story and aftermath until everyone is closer to that particular deadline and there’s no looking back 😂 though as I said the actual birth was actually good, up to and including needing a forceps delivery in the end 🤦‍♀️

IVF23 · 24/02/2024 19:46

Thank you @Lindyloolou @2mumlife for the reassurance. I had sort of set a milestone in my mind of 16 weeks so I am hoping anxiety will ease then 🤞🏻 Hopefully it’s just old blood @2mumlife , was it brown?

Lindyloolou · 24/02/2024 20:14

@2mumlife I had letz years ago too so was kept an eye on in my last pregnancy as a result. Sorry to hear about mucus/spotting - doesn’t sound ominous so hopefully nothing to worry about. if you have had cervix issues in the past, could be Cervial Ectropion which can be brought on with hormones - think this is maybe affecting me this time around too especially as they couldn’t see any evidence of uterus bleeding. I had this at 16 weeks with my DD.

Twins - I am with you on that. I’m honestly not greedy. Was happy with the 1! 😬 Just complicates everything so much more too - so much riskier. I did ask the sonographer if she thought I was having vanishing twin she said there was no evidence of blood and just dismissed it. Just got to hope alls well on Thursday I guess and pray no more big bleeds.

2mumlife · 25/02/2024 07:53

@IVF23 Yeah it’s sort of darker and mucusy @Lindyloolou so would fit in with it being from cervix as it’s all mixed with the progesterone pessary.

@Lindyloolou Oh totally not greedy, you only popped back 1 embryo! We’ve only even done single transfers as I’ve always thought “why chance it” with twins with the risks as you say. I think as well already having a LO you understand what a challenge it would be. But you will manage, whatever is thrown at you. I guess just need to wait for the next scan x

Hi there ladies and congratulations to you all!!

Currently 6 weeks and doing my best to just live in the moment and enjoy it.

Quick question- if any of you were on infertility/IVF boards on MN or any other websites what was your experience like after you had your BFP?

2mumlife · 25/02/2024 12:36

@IncredibleSheHulk Congratulations! I’ve used MNs infertility boards both pregnancies, but a lot less for this one and more focussed on thread for sibling rounds, as I get that it can be different on the threads if you’ve l ready been fortunate enough to have 1 child. Experience has been positive though - I find generally people are quite supportive. Hope you’ve not had a negative experience - emotions can run high though, and I remember in some of my darkest times feeling frustrated when others got a BFP on first round and things like that. I don’t think these things are ever about the person though, just frustrations at one’s own situation / challenges x

IncredibleSheHulk · 25/02/2024 13:21

@2mumlife thank you so much for sharing your experiences- you have given me a few things to reflect on, so thank you very much. Xx

Custard7891 · 26/02/2024 13:57

How is everyone today? We had our scan at 6w5d and there was a good heartbeat and measurements were fine. Still don't quite believe it though 😄

LuxeBiscuit · 26/02/2024 15:35

@Custard7891 great news! It was the same for me today.

I was a bit worried about ectopic due to ongoing pain in my ovary. It turns out that I have a large cyst on my ovary. The doctor was quite relaxed about it though.

My nausea has reduced over the last few days. How are you feeling?

Lindyloolou · 26/02/2024 15:38

Congratulations @Custard7891 Lovely news!

Ive done so much googling and researching on here given my pain and bleeding and unexpected twin situ and it’s always so disappointing when there isn’t an update so here it goes… So I had more bleeding - bright red then brown with stringy bits (Sorry - TMI) - clinic felt sorry for me I think so arranged a scan today and there were two heartbeats. They still couldn’t see where the bleeding is coming from. I’m wondering whether it is my cervix but they wouldn’t check that.

6wk+1 so there’s still a long way to go. DH is freaking out about the prospect of two now (we have a 2.5yr old DD thanks to IVF and PGA testing). Currently noted as Monochronic - I still don’t believe this is happening. Symptoms have died down etc. Sonographer said to expect more bleeds - common particularly in twin pregnancy and there’s obviously more of a risk one or both won’t make to 12 weeks. Got to take each day now until Thursday after next (next scan).
