Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

@IVF23 okay, thanks. That's interesting that your clinic said to only take them until 8 weeks. My clinic said 12 weeks.

Custard7891 · 03/03/2024 09:16

Hey @LuxeBiscuit, yes I'm on Cyclogest progesterone pessaries and have been advised to take them for 10 weeks. I had a bit of spotting out the blue this week, which worried me slightly as I'd not had any of that yet (not even after the transfer), but rang my fertility clinic nurse for reassurance and she said it was to be expected. I'd had an active day the day before too playing a racquet sport after work. I'm 7w4d now and not heard of luteal placental shift, so that's interesting.

Francesmalin · 03/03/2024 12:37

My clinic hasn't given me a date to finish taking progesterone, estrogen and aspirin. I think they are waiting until I do the ultrasound and then they will let me known. I think the first step for me is to figure out if I am having twins or I just have higher HCG than other people! I will hopefully find out tomorrow

LuxeBiscuit · 03/03/2024 13:20

Hi @Custard7891 sorry to hear that you had spotting too. But it is interesting (and maybe comforting) that we both had it during the same week. It could point to it being 'normal'.

Yeah the nurse when I rang said to ring back if its fresh red blood, which it wasn't, so I think it's ok.

2mumlife · 05/03/2024 14:22

@Francesmalin Great to see you here :)

@LuxeBiscuit cuit Whether you're on supplements or not will depend what kind of cycle you've had (e.g. non-medicated FET you might not be). I'm on the pessaries and estradiol until 12 weeks.

@Custard7891 Sorry to hear you've had some bleeding, its always an anxious thing to happen. You can also phone EPU if you're concerned.

Custard7891 · 05/03/2024 14:28

Thanks @2mumlife I've not had any since so I'm going to put it down to the 90 min exercise I'd done the day before, and trust the midwife I spoke to at the clinic. If I get any fresh blood I will definitely call back. I think it worried partner more than me as he didn't realise it's a normal early pregnancy symptom. I've not heard back from the hospital yet following my pregnancy self referral but fingers crossed I'll hear soon as I'll be 8 weeks tomorrow.

Francesmalin · 06/03/2024 18:15

@Blossomofhope

2mumlife · 07/03/2024 16:01

@Custard7891 Hopefully you hear back from the hospital soon. I think its really hard on partners as they feel really helpless a lot of the time. Unfortunately its something he'll need to get used to as there will be lots of antenatal appointments and things that he wont be there for in my experience 😂and just wait for labour!

Yah he needs to do some reading @2mumlife 😂

Lindyloolou · 07/03/2024 18:49

Sorry not been totally up to speed with everything that’s been going on. Crazy few weeks but wanted to update the thread for future people searching (always annoying when you don’t see the outcome). My bleed lasted 7 days, had a scan, no sign of bleed and identical twins revealed at 6 weeks with heartbeats. Freaked me out as meant was more high risk. Had 8 weeks scan today, one heartbeat stopped 6wks 3 days. Other embryo going strong and measuring perfectly so a case of vanishing twin syndrome. Might sound crass but I’m ok with it - means we have a much less riskier pregnancy and more chance of a live birth 🙏🏼

I hope everyone is doing ok.

2mumlife · 08/03/2024 09:34

@Custard7891 To be fair, I actually really went into myself during labour and basically didn’t want my partner to do very much other than hand me water and be there but quiet.

@Lindyloolou Good to hear you’re update, and great news you’ve got 1 embryo going strong. I really don’t think your feelings are crass - you and your baby are safer with a singleton pregnancy. You would have managed whatever the outcome, but all feelings are valid in these situations x

Can I join please? 8w today from my first IVF cycle. Even though morning sickness and fatigue is in full swing I’m still struggling to believe this is all real, even after we saw the heartbeat on a scan last week!

Custard7891 · 08/03/2024 09:59

@Lindyloolou sorry to hear about the vanishing twin but that's great news about the other embryo doing well.

@confuzzzzzled welcome! We are basically the same then as I'm 8w2d and I still can't quite believe it either!

Lol @2mumlife I think I'm going to be the same there 😂

LuxeBiscuit · 08/03/2024 10:23

@Lindyloolou that is a lot to process in a couple of weeks. I'm glad the other embryo is going strong.

2mumlife · 08/03/2024 16:37

@confuzzzzzled Welcome and congrats! I think it really reality sets in after the 12 week scan which is just amazing. And then when you can actually feel movements it all becomes very very real xx

@Custard7891 Highly recommend renting a TENS machine for the start of labour - my partner slept through the first like 7 hours of labour other than me occasionally prodding to get help putting the pads for the TENS machine on and calling the hospital

Sammyma · 08/03/2024 17:29

Hi all
Hope you don’t mind my adding on. I’m 8+2 following a frozen egg transfer. I have previously had two ectopic pregnancies and finally (a week ago) I got to see a heartbeat and pregnancy in the right place. 😍
I am taking cyclogest and elleste three times a day, which is making me so bloated! Today I noticed the remains of my pessary had a brown/beige colour to it. I hear brown discharge is common. Such a worry… apparently miscarriage ‘normal’ symptoms are masked because of the cyclogest.
If anyone has any thoughts on that, please share if you can.

2mumlife · 09/03/2024 07:52

@Sammyma Congratulations! I’m so sorry to hear you had 2 ectopics, what terrible disappointment 😞 Brown discharge on the peasant discharge is really normal and I wouldn’t worry about it - it can just be irritation from your cervix for example. If you see anything red and heavy enough to require a pad that is when I’d call your clinic or EPU (though just for reassurance a lot of the time even then everything is ok x)

@Lindyloolou what a lot to process for you. So sorry to hear about the loss of one the twins. So pleased that the other is doing well.

@confuzzzzzled welcome! I completely relate, still not feeling real here either!

@Sammyma welcome. So sorry to hear about your previous ectopics. I had some brown spotting just before 7 weeks. As @2mumlife said, brown can be pretty normal. Hope everything is ok.

I’ve got my 12 week scan on Wednesday when I should be 12 + 2. Feeling very anxious that something might be wrong. We told my mum this week though which was lovely.

Francesmalin · 09/03/2024 09:08

I have the feeling that bleeding is a recurring theme in our pregnancies! I am 6 weeks today and had a bleeding on Wednesday - which settled - and then again this morning. Monday I have an appointment with the local EPU and I am keeping all my fingers crossed it's nothing! So many things to worry about in these IVF pregnancies

Sammyma · 09/03/2024 13:32

The worry doesn’t seem to stop. One milestone at a time I guess.
It’s early days, but due to IVF… its seems like the journey is so long.
The EPU are going to scan me next Wednesday to check. It’s more like beige colour than brown. Hope the pessaries haven’t given me an infection. How is everyone else getting on with pessaries, any issues?

TheYorkshirePudding · 10/03/2024 15:15

Hi all, do you mind if I join? Didn’t dare join anything before because we didn’t believe it was real! 10+5 and due 1st Oct. 4th FET from freeze all cycle. 2 previous miscarriages. Had some light bleeding x7 so already had 4 scans. We’ve graduated from the fertility clinic now so now into the normal pregnancy world. Feeling very nauseous and exhausted but I think I’m on maximum hormone support so it’s no surprise. Still very nervous but slowly allowing ourselves to be happy and excited xx

IVF23 · 11/03/2024 19:44

@Francesmalin hope the bleeding has stopped and your appointment went ok today.

@Sammyma good luck on Wednesday

@TheYorkshirePudding welcome and congratulations! I hope you can continue to have your anxiety ease and excitement build. You’re just over a week behind me. When is your 12 week scan?

TheYorkshirePudding · 11/03/2024 20:16

@IVF23 Thank you. 12 week scan is on Friday 22nd (I’ll be 12+3) I’ve got a retroverted uterus so I’m really hoping that they can see something and I will have graduated to a tummy scan rather than transvaginal 🤞🏻 When’s yours?

Also, I’m sure it’s another IVF anxiety but I’m nervous to come off my meds (cyclogest 400mg x3, lubion 25mg, estradiol 4mg x3 and evorel patch 100mcg). Has anyone come off yet and was it okay?

IVF23 · 11/03/2024 20:22

@TheYorkshirePudding not long to go! Mine is on Wednesday this week 😬 Fingers crossed you’ll have a lovely clear scan! I’ve got an anteverted uterus, but I haven’t really thought about how that impacts anything haha.
I’ve come off my medication now, stopped last week. I was only on Cyclogest though. Really empathise with the anxiety about stopping though, I had fear of bleeding as soon as I stopped, but all ok so far 🤞🏻
