Awwwh, congratulations @Bims2019

Onedayatatime24 · 22/12/2023 15:58

Oh my gosh, congrats @Bims2019 !

I actually can't believe we're all almost there, it's crazy to me that I could have baby tomorrow or in a month. 😂 My control freak personality can not cope but just have to trust baby boy will come when he's ready.

Hope everyone else is hanging on okay. I'm in a lot of discomfort and pressure and insomnia is well and truly kicking my butt. Finishing work today is a nice relief though.

Redpanda21 · 22/12/2023 16:08

@Bims2019 huge congrats!

Can’t believe how many early babies we’ve had so far!

EL27 · 22/12/2023 16:12

Hi again, didn't realise there was a new thread, all going so fast! All the baby photos and positive birth stories are actually making me excited now. You're all superheroes with adorable babies 🥰

Been feeling super anxious as its getting closer (38 weeks today) my next appointment is 38+6. Midwife mentioned something about they will offer a sweep at some point but didn't really explain what a sweep is... I will ask her when I next see her but can someone explain to me what they do/feels like and whether it's risky or not?

Sorry if its a stupid question, just trying to prepare myself and always feeling out of my depth as first timer 😅

1992H · 22/12/2023 16:18

Congratulations @Bims2019 ❤️❤️

TunnocksTCake · 22/12/2023 16:25

@Bims2019 oh my gosh congratulations! What a surprise! I'm getting jealous of all these early babies 😂

buckingmad · 22/12/2023 16:28

Congrats @Bims2019 !

suz2285 · 22/12/2023 16:47

@PartRadish plenty of time left for baby to drop! I don't think I've dropped either! Not mad about that tbh, given everyone complaining about pressure 😂

@Bims2019 congrats!!

Feels like loads arriving now! I'm sure I'm gonna be waiting till well into Jan!!

I posted a link in the fb group for a what's app if anyone fancies x

Luhou · 22/12/2023 16:51

@Bims2019 congratulations! What a lovely gift for Christmas.

Matildahoney · 22/12/2023 17:12

Congrats @Bims2019 I'm very jealous of those of you having your babies! I'm 38+1 and although everyone (midwives included) think it's coming early, it doesn't seem to be budging!

HopeAndStrength · 22/12/2023 17:26

Congratulations @Bims2019 that's lovely news!

I'm not due until the end of Jan but all of the recent arrivals are making this feel very real already!

Bit nervous as I am supposed to be working for another week after Christmas and haven't finished my to do list...! Trying to relax for a few days over Christmas and enjoy the quiet time with my husband and dog whilst it's still just us.

FirstT1meMum · 22/12/2023 18:08

Massive congratulations @Bims2019 !!
We've just got home and the emotions and fears are hitting hard so I hope you're doing okay ❤️❤️

Due to my blood liver levels/Blood Pressure I've got to have community midwife visits every other day which I'm hoping will be more reassuring than daunting!

Flossiepot · 22/12/2023 18:09

Congratulations @Bims2019 🥰

RaspberryTime · 22/12/2023 18:27

Wow, just catching up (I’m always so far behind!) and massive congratulations to those who have welcomed their cuties already! I’m still battling the blood pressure and keeping everything crossed baby makes an appearance before my booked induction.

lilluce95 · 22/12/2023 18:37

Congratulations @Salamander91 @FirstT1meMum and @Bims2019 how exciting! 🥰❤️

Mushroo · 22/12/2023 19:38

Turned up for my induction and I’m already 1cm with regular tightenings.

Had a sweep and keeping my fingers crossed I progress nicely from here 🤞

LittleAlien24 · 22/12/2023 20:36

@Bims2019 congratulations
@Mushroo all the best. Hope it's quick and easy for you

picked my husband up today, builders finished the ceiling, moved living room back and having a nice fire here now, just more cleaning to do tomorrow. Christmas food prep tomorrow because we have 2 Christmas's, we celebrate on 24th and 25th. Get these done and he can come then lol

Mummyme87 · 22/12/2023 21:42

Good luck @Mushroo

@Bims2019 congratulations!! Another baby desperate to join in with Christmas!!

@PartRadish my baby‘a head is free also, very normal when you’ve had babies before. They often don’t engage until labour starts.

@EL27 a sweeps a vaginal examination assessing the cervix with the aim to get through the cervix and sweep around separating the membranes around baby from the cervix. It is only possible if your cervix is open a little. Risks, ascending infection, waters breaking, starting off long latent phase. It only works in about 40% of the time when your body is ready to go into labour. We are doing a lot less of them than we used to, it is an intervention. I’m not a massive fan of them, especially repeated ones but if you have an IOL booked then I think having one a couple of days before isn’t a bad idea necessarily

WitcheryDivine · 22/12/2023 22:16

Oh wow @Bims2019 i think we were due date twins or near enough so you having your baby has really given me a wake up call! HUGE CONGRATS xxx

FirstT1meMum · 22/12/2023 22:37

@Mummyme87 sorry to ask you questions when I've literally just come from the hospital 🤦🏼‍♀️

My alt levels were up in the 500s, I think thru were pre labour bloods and I had raised gtt levels. They've still not discussed possible causes of these. Just out of curiosity if it was pre eclampsia or pregnancy related when would you expect these to return to normal levels? Trying yo gauge when they will do repeat bloods x

Hummusanddipdip · 22/12/2023 22:42

Good luck @Mushroo hopefully all goes tonplan and smoothly

MrsJ6921 · 22/12/2023 23:36

I gave with birth at 38 weeks exactly with forceps this morning at 4:30AM to baby Annabelle after being induced on Monday. My induction was successful however after waiting over 30 hours for a bed on delivery suite I was exhausted.

Nonetheless our baby girl is happy, healthy and perfect and did not weigh 9lb 6oz like predicted but a 8lb 10oz.

TrudyProud · 22/12/2023 23:58

@sashastuck 7th Jan - not far apart at all.

Congratulations @Bims2019 ! With my first she arrived 3 days into my leave and has been keeping me on my toes ever since 🥰

@Mummyme87 really thorough explanation of a sweep. Can I ask - how would you define repeated sweeps? I was under the impression that unless your body was ready nothing would happen as such no issues. Also, was told that because of this it isn't classed as an induction method.

Cards on table I'm having sweeps in a bid to have a vbac - have a CS scheduled for 40+2 if I don't go into labour and birth before then. My daughter is measuring large so they don't want me going too overdue to minimise scar ruptures- that's what they've told me at least

Congratulations @MrsJ6921
And good luck @Mushroo fingers crossed for you

Can't believe how many Jan babies are becoming December babies 🥰🥰

FirstT1meMum · 23/12/2023 00:14

Huge congratulations @MrsJ6921 hope you and baby are recovering well ❤️

Matildahoney · 23/12/2023 00:57
