Hi all, sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here, originally joined the first chat which seems so long again now (my original name was buttonmoon). I had my little girl a few days earlier than planed on 30/12 - hoping it’s ok that I’ve joined the WhatsApp group. Thanks

IzzyMas · 03/02/2024 23:13

I was due on the 30th and she's still not here 😞

KayakingBex · 04/02/2024 07:18

@IzzyMas I was due on the 31st - still waiting too. He seems in no hurry. It’s been good reading what I have to look forward to newborn wise but I joined the February thread as well for some company.

Onedayatatime24 · 04/02/2024 08:37

@Booklover88 @FirstT1meMum thanks both! We're almost 3 weeks, anyone I call just says to it's normal, as long as he's feeding, weeing and sleeping but it's horrible to see him in pain/discomfort! We're finding he'll go 48 hours then do a huuuge poo and then nothing again for ages. Been told just to get as much breast milk in him as possible as it's a natural laxative apparently so we'll see how that goes. 😒

Glad to hear you're on the other end of it now @FirstT1meMum, are you exclusively BF? I'm trying to get it the 4-5 week mark before introducing some bottles for when we're out and about, I'm still too chicken to feed in public (stupid I know!) so felt a bit trapped in the house this last week. How are you finding things?

Mumofthree2024 · 04/02/2024 17:23

Dropped off here & the Facebook/whatsapp group a week or so ago in a heavily overdue hormonal
tantrum 😳🤦‍♀️ then felt too awkward to add back inD

ridiculous tantrums aside, my little girl finally arrived 15 days late on the 29th after having my waters broken.
We had a few days stay in hospital due to a diagnosis of Down syndrome at birth to have an ECG & echo to check she didn’t need anything on her heart doing imminently but we have been home Since Thursday and all settling down well.

Oh bless you! Totally get the hormonal tantrum and don't blame you at all! Feel free to come back, we did wonder where you went.

Congratulations on arrival and I'm pleased you're home and pleased to hear she didn't need any heart work doing x

FirstT1meMum · 04/02/2024 20:22

@Onedayatatime24 we are combination feeding as she was struggling to put weight on at first and it took us until week 3/4 to be back to birth weight and we've just carried on as it's working for us. I'm the same and won't BF in public so don't worry! Honestly every time you speak to someone they will tell you something totally different! We were constantly told breast milk is a laxative then one paediatrician told us breast fed babies tend to be constipated 🙈🤦🏼‍♀️

KayakingBex · 05/02/2024 10:04

@Mumofthree2024 - congratulations on your new arrival. Glad she’s not needed any surgery. I hope all is going well with you all at home.

Mumofthree2024 · 06/02/2024 13:35

@Hummusanddipdip thankyou. I’ll try and brave it up and return. It’s quiet without you all!

@KayakingBex thankyou ❤️ we’ve been really lucky

Mummyme87 · 06/02/2024 17:02

@Mumofthree2024 congratulations on the arrival of Raven. Definitely come back and join us through our moans, groans, rants and raves.. even at 3am.

xLJ1990x · 09/02/2024 06:39

Hello everyone!

Congratulations on all the new arrivals. Haven't read anything on here in a while but I do plan to catch up! My little one arrived Sunday morning by emergency c section after all day Saturday with 3 minute contractions. We are both well now but were both a bit ill so only home last night.

Did anyone else find it overwhelming when they brought baby home?

sashastuck · 09/02/2024 08:30

@xLJ1990x congratulations ❤️ yes definitely overwhelming, I’m sure everyone would agree! It’s such a massive change, especially if its your first (like me). I did have my parents with us so that helped lighten the load - do you have any family or friends that could stay over to support? I found after about a week I thought ‘I can do this’ but the first week was mad. All a blur really. You’ll be great x

KayakingBex · 09/02/2024 11:31

@xLJ1990x - congratulations on your new arrival. I wish you a speedy recovery!

still no movement on mine - I’m getting induced on Monday though if he doesn’t appear this weekend (due date 31st Jan)

xLJ1990x · 10/02/2024 03:40

Thank you @KayakingBex and @sashastuck

How are you feeling about it @KayakingBex?

@sashastuck my parents did come and stay nearby for a few days which was super helpful but they had to go home before I was discharged unfortunately. The bright side of that was they'd decided before they'd left to come back again soon!

I found that my mum has been able to cheer me up where dh has been a bit out of his depth. Perhaps because she's been through it before and also he's (almost) as tired as me!

The overwhelming feeling was completely unexpected for me. Maybe for me it will be the same and it will click into place after a week 😊

KayakingBex · 10/02/2024 22:28

@xLJ1990x - honestly a bit stressed. I’d have liked to have started naturally but doesn’t seem that’s the way it’s going to go. Got checked today due to change in movements and they tried to do a stretch and sweep - they couldn’t do it as my cervix wasn’t favourable so the induction process is starting tomorrow. I’m glad I’ll get to meet my little guy soon though. The waiting these last two weeks has been frustrating.

xLJ1990x · 11/02/2024 19:45

@KayakingBex I found it frustrating too. My waters broke at 41+5 and everyone kept saying they thought I'd be early as my bump was big. I believed it too!

Are you finding a nice way to relax this evening?

KayakingBex · 12/02/2024 04:02

@xLJ1990x sooo the last 24 hours have been a bit of whirlwind.

I had my pessary put in at around 10:10am (painful!). Went for a wander around hospital grounds while having some mild period like pains came back for lunch. Period pains became more like painful period pains. Then at about 2:15 I was having really strong painful contractIons and started really needing pain relief - they gave me paracetamol initially as they didn’t think I could be that far along yet. I then threw up and they gave me codine. Somewhere around 4 or 5 I asked my husband to get a midwife because I was getting really strong urges to push / felt like I was going to poop. They checked me found I was 8 cm dialated finally removed the pessary and rushed me to the birthing pool that was thankfully free where I finally got gas and air and I gave birth to a mermaid baby (waters didn’t break till the very end) at 7:34pm.

I think the speed I gave birth at threw the midwives. I can’t tell you how much I was relieved to get in that pool and have the gas and air! Or how much I wanted to strangle someone when they made me get on my back to check baby heartbeat. (He was back to back and it was stupidly painful having contractions like that).

Wee boy Malcolm (11 days overdue) is very healthy - latched well and I managed to feed him before I got taken into theatre for stitches which was magical.

I ended up with a suspected 3rd degree tear so got taken to theatre a couple of hours later. Turned out to be 2nd degree tear so I have stitches - legs still numb from the spinal block. Sleeping as much as I can and midwives are helping me with wee one as I can’t move around much right now - husband away getting some sleep so he can help me later today.

Hummusanddipdip · 12/02/2024 18:09

Congratulations @KayakingBex welcome baby Malcolm!
