@Onedayatatime24 and @RG9895 massive congratulations to you both. Sorry that you had a scary experience - hope recovery goes as smoothly as possible ❤️ hooray for happy healthy babies x

Luhou · 19/01/2024 14:31

Wishing everyone a speedy recovery! I had a sweep this morning. Midwife said all looking favourable and about 1.5cm dialelated currently so hopefully something hopefully start of labour over the weekend.

IzzyMas · 19/01/2024 19:13

I have a full blown headcold developing with just under 2 weeks to go 😠

Hummusanddipdip · 19/01/2024 19:44

That sounds positive @Luhou

Urgh, I hope it passes quickly if it is a headcold @IzzyMas

Congrats on all the new babies!!!

KayakingBex · 19/01/2024 20:29

@HopeAndStrength - I’ve just started my Mat Leave now too. Felt I was pushing it a bit this week so glad I gave myself a bit of time before due date. I hope my wee one waits a wee bit longer so I can finish sorting some things out around the house but we shall see!

@Luhou - good luck 🤞

@IzzyMas - there’s been some really horrible ones going round. I hope you feel better soon and it’s cleared before your wee one arrives.

Gremlin84 · 19/01/2024 20:54

41 weeks today. First day since term I’ve actually felt properly uncomfortable so think things are progressing. Made a deal with midwife to see doctor on Tuesday to discuss delaying induction a couple of days to 42 weeks instead of 41+5 and have a sweep. Hoping the extra couple of days and the sweep just beforehand will help baby get a wriggle on in the context of knowing babies in my family come late. In the meantime I’m going for a walk every day and doing hip sways on the ball to maybe not even need to go to Tuesday’s appointment!

xLJ1990x · 25/01/2024 20:33

Did anyone have a successful sweep?

Trying to decide whether to accept one tomorrow at 40+5. Bit frustrated because I had lots of cramping yesterday from 330 pm til about 6am and then nothing since. Really thought things might have been starting!

Luhou · 25/01/2024 21:28

Sorry for radio silence. Baby boy arrived safely on tuesday at 40+5💙 I had a really great experience, complete contrast to my previous birth.

@xLJ1990x had a sweep Friday morning, my waters went Monday lunchtime, I was given another when they examined me on assesment ward that afternoon.

I went home around 6pm, went in at around 2am was 6cms and then laboured for a further 63mins and baby boy arrived without any intervention. Back home for 10am that morning.

Who knows if sweep helped or not, but I'd have another.

HopeAndStrength · 25/01/2024 21:59

Congratulations @Luhou! I'm glad to hear you had a positive experience and that baby has arrived safely.

I had a sweep yesterday but it wasn't successful as my cervix was too high to reach properly. I'm booked for another next week to try again, with instructions to keep walking as much as possible in the meantime.

I have been having braxton hicks and some other symptoms though, so fingers crossed that baby might decide to join us in the next few days.

KayakingBex · 25/01/2024 22:57

@Luhou congratulation! Hope you are recovering well and glad to hear it went smoothly.

@HopeAndStrength - fingers crossed for you.

I think I may be the last - 39w +1. No braxton hicks or any sign my wee one is thinking of moving yet. Not entirely complaining as it’s given me time to sort the house out. I have developed PUPPS this week though which is driving me crazy 😬. Midwife appointment on Monday will see what the plan is. I’m wondering if he might hold out till February- which might be kind of nice as that’s when mine and DH birthdays are.

sashastuck · 26/01/2024 01:24

@Luhou congratulations!! X

@HopeAndStrength @xLJ1990x @KayakingBex hope your bubbas are all on their way soon x

Booklover88 · 26/01/2024 03:50

@xLJ1990x i had a sweep at 39+2 but I was already 1cm dilated when I had it. Gave birth four days later after four days in slow labour. Hope things happen for you soon!

Gremlin84 · 26/01/2024 10:16

42w today and its eviction notice day: heading into hospital later to get started on induction. Not how I wanted this to go really, but it’s time. Trying to remember positive induction stories rather than the bad, which seems to be the majority…

HopeAndStrength · 26/01/2024 10:24

Thank you @sashastuck and @KayakingBex - I've a feeling he may be holding on for February! It's officially my due date today but other than a dose of hormones making me tearful over something silly this morning, I don't think he's in a rush.

Good luck @Gremlin84 I hope it all goes really well for you today!

KayakingBex · 26/01/2024 22:24

@Gremlin84 - good luck 🤞 I hope everything goes smoothly and you have a happy healthy baby soon.

Its sort of nice to know I’m not the only January due date still waiting - the thread had gone so quiet after all the births I’d started to wonder.

finally produced some colostrum today - not much but I think I’ve at least figured out the technique now.

xLJ1990x · 27/01/2024 08:46

Thank you for all your replies 😊 they helped me make a decision. In the end it wasn't possible to have a sweep yesterday as my cervix wasn't open enough anyway. Booked in for one on Tuesday when I'll be 41+2 and then for a balloon induction a week Saturday. Hoping baby will have arrived by herself by then!

Ttcdcno1 · 27/01/2024 13:44

@KayakingBex have you joined the WhatsApp group? Think most of the chat goes on in there now rather than here 😊

Gremlin84 · 30/01/2024 16:29

@Ttcdcno1 ah that’s where everyone went! Who should I PM with my number to get added?

Hello everyone. Hope you're all doing well with your babies. I had a little boy on the 11th January

Onedayatatime24 · 03/02/2024 10:18

@FirstT1meMum @Booklover88 I remember both your little ones having trouble pooing a few pages ago, hoping you can help! 🤞 Our boy hasn't pooed for over 24 hours, he's not screaming the house down yet but he's very fussy and visibly trying to go and in pain. Also crying/whinging during feeds and squirming when latched on booby! Still weeing lots so I think he's getting enough milk... Did anything you try work to get a poo out or is it just a case of waiting it out? We've done bicycle legs, tummy massage, warm bath etc, nothing is helping! He did this a couple of days ago too and then had 3 big poos in about an hour but then we've had nothing since. Not sure whether this is something I should ring 111 about as our health visitor line is closed until Monday?

Booklover88 · 03/02/2024 10:55

@Onedayatatime24 oh it’s such a worry isn’t it? How old is your little one? My DD is almost 5 weeks and normally only poos once every 24 hours, sometimes going a little longer. The midwife told me it’s normal and as long as she’s producing wet nappies then not to worry. We combi feed though and I know formula fed babies poo less often than BF.

if your baby is under 21 days old, then you can still contact a midwife via triage-or you could in my area. Could be worth ringing them for advice? I think if you’re worried then ring 111 if there’s no other support available. worst case scenario is you just feel a bit silly for being an over anxious mum-which I feel all the time! Big hugs xx

FirstT1meMum · 03/02/2024 17:11

@Onedayatatime24 I just want to say first it does get better! We're week 6 now and hopefully (touch wood) we are finally pooing regularly 🤞 only really these last 3 days or so!

I hate to say but nothing helped us other than meds but it took us ages to get anyone to give us anything and believe us about the pain she was in! A lot of Dr's will say it's normal and will pass. We ended up on lactulose at first which did help but it was obvious it still wasn't solving the problem as she still wasn't going properly but rather having the tiniest of marks. We went back to the Dr who gave us lactulose (they also won't give this under a month unless you get a dr that is willing to go against it like we did) and he examined her and said she was compacted and gave us another laxative to try. It was a long, stressful and emotional 3/4 weeks but we are coming out the other end now (Literally 💩🤣).

I would say if you are worried about anything or the pain then ring 111. We must have seen so many out of hours gps and rang 111 probably 6 times. You know your child best and they honestly don't mind, even if it's just to reassure you! The only time it really scared me was when we hit day 5 with no poo (at about 9 days old) but this was also coupled with being extremely tired and not feeding so we went up to a&e and they ended up giving her a suppository. I realise now I've gone totally out of chronological order 🙈
