Dannic2018 · 21/12/2023 21:59

Aw congratulations @FirstT1meMum she’s gorgeous and looks a good weight too.
I am in bloody denial that we are all having babies now and I’ll have ours next Friday 😳 god where has this time gone ?

I am still doing everything as normal, driving, shopping, lifting toddler and stuff and housework but by god I’ll be pleased when I can relax. Hubby is off from Saturday, back on Wednesday then off until the 19th Jan! He better not do my head in 🤣🤣

Also consultant asked if I wanted to be sterilised at the same time 😳😳

Gremlin84 · 22/12/2023 00:27

@FirstT1meMum congratulations! Glad it all went smoothly.

the constipation is rearing its ugly head here. Makes it hard to know what is bump discomfort and what is digestive discomfort.

FirstT1meMum · 22/12/2023 04:30

Mummyme87 · 21/12/2023 21:31

@FirstT1meMum glad to hear you’re both doing well. Hopefully she will let you have some sleep.
keep baby in the kitchen, lots of skin to skin
and hopefully the feeding will improve ❤️

Having lots of extended skin to skin seems to really be helping! Just trying to be mindful of my own exhaustion (I think I'm still running on adrenaline) and her temp as it was on the low side earlier.

She's also quite mucusy which they've assured me is normal and to be expected with babies who deliver quickly but still doesn't help the fear when it looks like she's choking 😳🥺

buckingmad · 22/12/2023 06:58

@FirstT1meMum my DD was mucousy as she was c section. Feeding will help clear it!

Hope your first night was ok xx

suz2285 · 22/12/2023 07:18

@FirstT1meMum huge congrats 🥰

Can't believe so many babies are arriving now or in the next few weeks!
I have midwife this morning for my 36 week appointment, (at almost 37 weeks)

Interested to see what she says about this bug I've still got! And how my bp and urine are doing!

FirstT1meMum · 22/12/2023 08:51

@buckingmad definitely seems a night of cluster feeding has helped 🤞🤞

Salamander91 · 22/12/2023 09:34

@FirstT1meMum bless her there's a wee one on the ward with us who is very mucuousy all the midwives keep saying he just needs a good puke. Hopefully she gets it cleared up soon.

Little man had some trouble regulating his blood sugar at first but he's all good now so we can go home today! I'm so excited for my other kids to meet him ❤️

lucya66 · 22/12/2023 09:42

Congratulations @Salamander91 and @FirstT1meMum

ive had no more contractions since having two in a row. Midwife says it’s just my body getting ready but could be a long latent Labour.

TunnocksTCake · 22/12/2023 10:00

Congrats @FirstT1meMum she's gorgeous 💕💕

Mummyme87 · 22/12/2023 10:05

The joys of the end game @lucya66 its
super common to get a period of a few contractions or even hours worth then nothing.

my kids are already driving me up the wall, well the eldest is. He’s on a screen ban because of behaviour

Gremlin84 · 22/12/2023 12:43

Just spent an hour on hold to the midwife/antenatal team trying to get last lot of appointments booked in. Not what I wanted when there’s plenty of other stuff to get on with! But all sorted now. 38 week appointment is actually at 38+6 - suspect lower staffing over festive period. Getting very real now especially hearing about those of you here with your new little ones!

sashastuck · 22/12/2023 12:59

@Gremlin84 yeah I bet it’s because of staffing. Crazy that that could be your last appointment!

I just had my final midwife appointment 🥺 baby is now 3/5 engaged, raring to go! And I’ve got a craving for spicy ramen. Off to watch a bunch of tiktok recipes and then make it. I want really hot, wonder if that means anything

TrudyProud · 22/12/2023 13:05

Thanks @sashastuck ! I definitely went MIA 🤣

Congratulations @FirstT1meMum! 😍😍

Glad to read I'm not the only one doing at home glucose monitoring. Annoyingly I can only get enough blood from my middle finger so it's so sore . Not fun aiming for 4-5 daily readings for 7 days @Mummyme87 @BloodontheTracks

Mummyme87 · 22/12/2023 13:09

Staffing isn’t actually reduced over Christmas, but clinics will be much busier and harder to get into as obviously closed on bank hols.

I’ve got my glucose monitor much to my dislike, she has suggested not monitoring on Christmas Day as won’t be my normal but the next 5 days won’t be my normal as travelling and in different peoples houses eating alllll the time

Me too! 3/5ths - I had a stretch and sweep today though she did mention my cervix is still posterior and long.

When's your DD again?

TrudyProud · 22/12/2023 13:22

@Mummyme87 I was just planning on testing as normal. My thinking is if I still get normal readings it confirms my view that I just have bigger babies.

If its elevated it's because of Xmas. My readings to-date have been (lower end of) normal .

sashastuck · 22/12/2023 13:42

@TrudyProud 4th Jan, what about you?

Redpanda21 · 22/12/2023 13:45

Had my growth scan this morning, baby weight is estimated at just shy of 7lb which is above 90th centile. Bit of a change in circumstances as was expecting potentially a small baby.
Having to do 3 days of blood sugar monitoring to see if it’s late onset diabetes.
I’ve been approved for sweeps from 37 weeks and will be having weekly BP checks. She thinks I’ll be quite favourable for sweeps, but who knows!

buckingmad · 22/12/2023 13:58

Just when I think baby can’t drop anymore. I literally can’t walk without feeling like a hand is clawing at my cervix.

I haaaaaate this part of pregnancy all the is it labour is it not. Feeling extra stressed about it because mum is 4 hours away with no traffic and I would so so love for her to be here for the labour and birth. She wasn’t with my DD thanks to covid rules 🙄.

suz2285 · 22/12/2023 15:02

God it's all go isn't it!

Well I didn't see midwife today due to my ongoing dodgy bug symptoms but I spoke to her on the phone and all ok, still planning to travel to mums tomorrow for a few days, feeling much better 🤞

Seeing her next week instead!
I felt like baby had dropped a few days ago but not feeling that pressure now so maybe not! Maybe the achy feelings were just part of the bug 🤷‍♀️😂

@buckingmad im sure your mum will manage to make it assuming you don't have a super quick labour!

That's 3 girls in my antenatal group had babies now!

PartRadish · 22/12/2023 15:15

Just had my 36 week appointment. Baby's head still isn't in my pelvis, which makes sense because my ribs are agony! I'm starting to freak myself out that there is some reason and maybe her head is too big or something. Head was measuring three weeks ahead at yesterdays growth scan 😭

Induction booked in now for January 9th if she doesn't come before that. I really don't think she will. I have absolutely zero signs at all!

Bims2019 · 22/12/2023 15:41

Oh my goodness I've missed so much! Congratulations @FirstT1meMum she's beautiful and you did so well!

We also had a surprise arrival on Monday, I was booked in for an induction at 39 weeks but our little girl decided to make an early appearance at 37+6! 💕 It was also a fast birth (not quite as quick as yours @FirstT1meMum!), my waters broke in the morning and we went to triage to confirm I was in labour. I was booked in for an induction the next day in case it didn't progress, but the contractions really ramped up and we were back in triage around 8pm. They were very calmly examining me but everything sped up when they found they could already see a head! I gave birth in the birth centre as there was no time to get to a delivery suite. All quite intense and unexpected, but we are just so happy she is here safely!

I also had to have an episiotomy so stayed in a couple of nights for that and feeding support, it's been toug but glad to be at home. I'll post some pics in the Facebook group at some point 😊 oh and I only finished work last Friday and never had time to decorate the tree or buy half my Christmas presents 😂 It's all good though, and worth everything we've been through.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and looking forward to Christmas!

sashastuck · 22/12/2023 15:45

@Bims2019 congratulations! Sounds like a very lovely birth and baby will be able to have her first Christmas as a little tiny bub 😍 so lovely!

Bims2019 · 22/12/2023 15:46

@Salamander91 just read back and seen your news as well, congratulations!! So lovely to see all these babies arriving.

PartRadish · 22/12/2023 15:46

Congratulations @Bims2019 How lovely x
