Hi all! I'm 4 weeks exactly today, due date is 4th August ☺️ This will (hopefully) be DC2!

How is everyone feeling? I've got sore boobs, mild cramps and waves of nausea that I didn't get until week 6 with my DD so I guess it's starting early, lucky me 🥳

@Elle11111 congratulations! How are you feeling?
It took us over a year to convince to and it can really take its toll, also made the BFP super exciting but also felt a little pressure like omgosh please let it stay now, I don't want to have to wait another year and a bit.

Lots of people are having not many symptoms, myself included, I've got tender breasts, cramps, some tiredness, and last night started to feel dizzy if I stood up too quick.

Krb92 · 13/12/2023 09:06

@Bells3032 Phew, thank you so much for the reassurance! My early scan is also around the same time as yours (6+4) 😁 Is it true we may be able to see a heartbeat at 6 weeks? I am hoping to have some form of reassurance from the early scan before sharing with family at Christmas. Well, as much reassurance as you can have in the first trimester!

pontipinemum · 13/12/2023 09:26

@Krb92 It is possible at 6 weeks but still unlikely so try not to get your hopes up too much. My last pregnancy I was in/ out to EPU and going for scans and being told to come back was very frustrating/ caused more worry so I am waiting until 7 weeks this time.

@brbttc My son is 16 months, he will be 2yrs 2 weeks when this baby is born. I am also worrying about how we will cope with a new born and an already tornado toddler!!

@Becsim congratulations! I don't think 4 is too many, as long as you have the space/ time/ finances/ love for all I really don't think it's that big. I always said 4 would be lovely but I'm 36 next year and DH will be 41 so I think we will leave it at 2

NelliePig · 13/12/2023 10:10

Even though date of my last period puts me at 3w and 3ds I contacted midwife team. I'm high risk and on a lot of meds for an auto immune disease. I'm being arranged a scan up the early pregnancy assessment unit. Will they even see anything at like 4 weeks? 😬

Pixiedust138 · 13/12/2023 10:25

@NelliePig would you mind sharing what AI disease you have? I also have one (two actually) and I’m worried about getting the jabs for that very reason. I haven’t even got an appointment date yet so nobody to ask for advice 😫

pontipinemum · 13/12/2023 10:31

@NelliePig I had scans that early last time due. They will see the thickening of the womb lining but that's pretty much it. They will also be able to tell which side you ovulated from. About a week later they could see the sac, another week later 1 heartbeat, 2 weeks later confirmation 2nd HB wasn't there but twin A was fine.
I don't have an autoimmune disease or anything similar just re-occurring miscarriages. I've decided this time I am waiting to go tot EPU at 7 weeks. I hated leaving with all the uncertainty. But as I said my own health was not at risk

Bells3032 · 13/12/2023 10:43

They can't really see anything at 4 weeks. i've had a scan at 4 weeks due to a miscarriage. they can see you ovulated and whether you're lining is thick enough. that's about it. better waiting til about 7 weeks unless you're at risk of ectopic as more likely to be able to see something/heartbeat and therefore less uncertainity and anxiety

Pixiedust138 · 13/12/2023 10:50

I’ll be having an early scan at 6 weeks on Monday. Arranged by the hospital because I’m high risk. I am nervous, also nervous that it’ll be too early and they won’t see a heartbeat

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/12/2023 11:02

Re all the talk of early scans is anyone considering a private harmony/NIPT test? I think this is around 10 weeks. Just seen it’s about £500 in my area and includes a scan so is making me wonder about doing that and not getting an earlier scan but the cost is so high. I am mindful too that the nhs 12 week scan will refer for NIPT if there is a high risk result. Bit nervous on this as I’m 37 and DH 46 so are higher risk in terms of age. I think we would wait for these results before telling our DD (9) about the pregnancy and since we want her to be the first to know it means remaining tight lipped for aggggees!!

AutumnMusings · 13/12/2023 11:24

Hello all - just joining!! I’m 4w2d today! It’s my first pregnancy and first bfp! We’ve been TTC and it still hasn’t fully sunk in. Hcg was 15 on 10dpo (faint bfp on 9dpo) then 71 on 12dpo (today’s 17dpo). Now nothing to do until our 6W scan! Trying not to freak out about what might go wrong before Christmas.
I understand that we may not hear a heartbeat yet at 6W, but will an ectopic definitely be ruled out by then? Last night, I had a lot of pain near my left ovary. Is this normal?!

Adventtime · 13/12/2023 11:28

Can I join? I am due 12 August. So 5+3 today. I am very tired and have period type cramps on and off since before I was due on my period! I am now 10 days late, two BFP with no issues. I am just wondering if I should be doing something else? I have my first midwife app in Jan and I have had the letter for bloods, but I’m wondering if this is it? Should I still be testing? I’m worried I’m going to do something bad and hurt it!

toomanysausages · 13/12/2023 11:33

I had an early scan but the dates aren't matching up with measurements as a heartbeat was seen (measured 5 days behind). It was £90 but I'm going to have another scan next week to see if the dates can be a bit more accurate. Only had scan to get a rough idea of how far along I was due to irregular periods and surprise positive! I had maybe 4/5 early scans in my last pregnancy. I went between two different places 🤣

@SunSparkle oh you poor thing. Hopefully it doesn't turn into hg for you :(

@CurlyWurly1991 I paid for the harmony scan/nipt last year (the main reason is that I wanted to find out dds gender). Will pay for one again as it's good for price for piece of mind before the nhs tests. It was £450 this time last year at our local scanning place. I'll be saving up for another one.

Loumck94x · 13/12/2023 11:36

Hi everyone! Congratulations on all your pregnancies ❤️

i have just got a positive test today two days before my period is due - hoping this one sticks as had a mmc back in august. Going by my lmp I’d be due around the 23rd of August. Xx

Due August 2024!

Hey all! 👋 After a round of IVF, I'm pregnant for the first time, which is very exciting, but I also feel I am overthinking every symptom and assuming the worst 🙈 I'm around 5 weeks pregnant now, due date in August 2024. Is it typical to experience period like cramps? I've had them on and off yesterday and today. They got particularly worse after I was walking around the shops trying to do some Xmas shopping. Anyway, any advice from experienced mums would be much appreciated! 😊

Yep it's normal - just think of it as baby getting comfy :)

It's a bit of a limbo land between BFP and your booking appointment tbh. Just be kind to yourself, don't stress about testing or symptoms spotting and take your folic acid and vit D.

fr4zzledmum · 13/12/2023 12:10

Welcome to all the newbies! There's a nice bunch of us now.

I've bought myself some anti sickness bands to try this time round - not feeling massively nauseous yet, more like I've lost my appetite. My boobs are feeling less sore now too, which I remember was a sign sickness was coming with my previous pregnancy!

Becsim · 13/12/2023 12:24

Thank you! It’s all very exciting. Having 3DC is lovely but they do bucket a bit. 🙈

Sav2023 · 13/12/2023 12:26

Hello everyone, I have been lurking in the background for the last couple of weeks following along 🙊I have been hesitant to post but decided to take the plunge! I hope you don’t mind me joining along!
I am currently 6 weeks pregnant, due 8th August and really taking it day by day. Sadly I had a MMC end of September, baby stopped growing at 6w4d and I didn’t find out until 10 weeks. Thrilled to be pregnant so quickly but nervous and feeling a bit detached from the pregnancy this time.
Last time I had a scan at 6 weeks and they said I was measuring behind but they could see a heartbeat. I have decided to wait until 8 weeks this time for a scan, so I have booked privately on the 27th December.
In terms of symptoms I am nauseous, very tired, bloated, boobs are a bit sore and really vivid dreams!
Really hoping this one sticks and congratulations to all of you ❤️

Isitisit · 13/12/2023 12:27

Welcome to the new joiners!

I have my early scan and booking appointment next week at 6w+6. I’m hoping they will be able to see a heartbeat as it’s so close to 7 weeks.

Planning to then tell our parents over Xmas if all goes smoothly!

I get on and off cramping too and keep getting freaked out as that is what I had when I miscarried but they are not as strong this time and tests are much darker.

pontipinemum · 13/12/2023 12:38

😭Went into the gp now to get my 2nd set of bloods done to compare hCG levels. The first ones were done on Monday. The lab couldn't test the blood as it was coagulated. So the nurse just re-did them she said hopefully the lab will have them today if not 1st thing in the morning.

But for the 2nd comparison bloods I can either get them done on Friday and take them to the hospital myself (45min drive) or wait until next Wednesday. They only have the courier on Mon + Wed and we are away from Fri - Mon at center parcs. Or she said I can go to EPU tomorrow but I really don't want to, they always scan and I know at this point (5+1 according to app, but probably at least 5 days behind that because of late ovulation) they won't see much or anything.

Sorry for ranting! I think I'll get the blood done 1st thing Fri, take it myself to the hospital then go to CP and hopefully put it to the back of my mind

NelliePig · 13/12/2023 12:42

@Pixiedust138 I have quite severe Rheumatoid arthritis and also fibromyalgia as a secondary chronic illness. Any jabs just seem to flare my immflamation up and ofc that's not good when pregnant, but especially so in the first 12 weeks I believe!

Krb92 · 13/12/2023 12:50

@fr4zzledmum Love that, thank you. Please go all out, baby, and make yourself feel at home! 😂 Every time I get a cramp now, I'm seeing it a 'hi'!

SV12 · 13/12/2023 14:00

@pontipinemum ah that is rubbish i'm sorry! Hopefully they will be able to test this lot and Friday take it and maybe you'll have the results by the time you go away to CP.

Fingers crossed for you.

All this talk of early scans makes me want one 👀😂

AutumnMusings · 13/12/2023 14:33

Does anyone know the earliest that a scan could rule out an ectopic?

pontipinemum · 13/12/2023 14:37

@SV12 ya I'll just bring them myself. Honestly if you can hold out do. It can cause more anxiety than not IMO anyway. I had to keep going back because they couldn't see/ be sure etc. It wasn't until my 3rd scan 7 weeks I got any def answers. I know I'd have been wondering all those weeks as well but being told snippits of info then having to wait was very annoying!
