Hi all! I'm 4 weeks exactly today, due date is 4th August ☺️ This will (hopefully) be DC2!

How is everyone feeling? I've got sore boobs, mild cramps and waves of nausea that I didn't get until week 6 with my DD so I guess it's starting early, lucky me 🥳

Does anyone know the earliest that a scan could rule out an ectopic?

I think six weeks (maybe a day or two earlier) but that's when my friend who had a previous ectopic was told to get a scan

Thank you Bells! If you don’t mind me asking, did your friend have any prominent symptoms before the scan? I’m freaking myself out

Bells3032 · 13/12/2023 15:35

For the actual ectopic she had a lot of pain and some bleeding i think. for the later, healthy pregnancies just nausea (she gets terribly sick!)

Pixiedust138 · 13/12/2023 15:48

@NelliePig thank you! I also have fibromyalgia and that’s my main concern with the potential of flare ups, I’ve had some bad reactions in the past following jabs in the past. My other condition is APS which puts me as a high risk pregnancy patient so I am receiving early scans and consultant care due to that, first one will be at 6 weeks.

NelliePig · 13/12/2023 16:45

Ahh yes sounds like we will have some similar scans/being consultant led etc. X

KT86 · 13/12/2023 18:02

To those asking about early scans, I'm not sure how early they can see things but I was scanned at 7weeks exactly with my DD due to recurrent bleeding. They could clearly see her heartbeat at that point. She just looked like a chipolata sausage to us tho 😂 They also confirmed at that scan that she was in the right location so definitely no ectopic pregnancy.

I thought I was 7 weeks and 4 days in that scan day but measured at 7 exactly. I was a bit worried I was more than half a week out. The estimated due date they gave me at that point remained the same throughout the rest of my pregnancy though and she finally arrived 5 days late!

We've booked a private early scan for the day before 8 weeks. With that being just over what our first scan with DD was, we felt that was a good timescale for, hopefully, reassurance all is progressing as planned.

Took a test today as I've not tested since early last week and the positive line was stronger than the control line. I know it's not an exact science but taking that as a positive everything is ok so far 🙏

I'm still having very few symptoms. But at this point with DD I was the same!

warmbutteredtoast · 13/12/2023 18:13

Is anyone taking progesterone due to previous mc/bleeding? I rung my EPU today to ask if I needed to be on it as I've had both in past pregnancies and they've booked me in for a scan next Friday, I'll be 6+6 so hopefully far enough along for a bit of reassurance. I have massive scanxiety though, I can't bear the moments before they speak to either say they can see the heartbeat or they can't ☹️

RiverBear · 13/12/2023 18:16

Is anyone experiencing less breast tenderness? 🤔 mine still feel bruised when i press down on them but definitely not as bad as last week! I'm 6+1 today according to my app but I think I'm actually 5+5

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 13/12/2023 18:36

@CurlyWurly1991 I'm definitely taking the NIPT screening because of my age. There's a clinic close to us that'll do a scan as well as taking bloods so I'll be booking an appointment for when I'm 10 weeks.

I'm really struggling with morning sickness. I did in my last pregnancy too. I've asked the GP to prescribe cyclizine (which I didn't know about last time!) so hopefully I won't be quite as miserable in the first trimester again.

hotpotato64 · 13/12/2023 18:51

We are going to do NIPT- the average seems to be around £600 in our area!! I didn’t have it done for my last pregnancy few years ago but I’m sure back then I heard it was half the price it is now. Think it will be good though to have that extra reassurance because of our ages

12th August seems to be the day 😂😂❤️❤️❤️

Pixiedust138 · 13/12/2023 20:03

I’m 5 weeks and 4 days and I really have no symptoms. I did have backache, crampy feelings and bloating plus a little bit of nasuea from 3 1/2 weeks but now nothing really. It’s a little concerning but last pregnancy I had no major symptoms until 9 weeks.

pontipinemum · 13/12/2023 20:30

The nurse called earlier with my blood test, hCG is 371 by LMP (which was a miscarriage not period) I am exactly 5 weeks. But I am fairly confident by ovulation that I am really only about 4+2 or 3.

CurlyWurly1991 · 13/12/2023 21:02

@ChildrenOfTheQuorn@hotpotato64 thanks, I’m still considering NIPT. It’s £500 with the clinic near me but that doesn’t actually include a scan which they want another £95 for. Tbh I think that’s too steep for us if all that it offers is a few weeks advance notice. If it needs to be at 10weeks onwards and results in 5-7 days, I’m wondering why it’s preferable to do this before the nhs 12 week scan (which as of 2021 refers on to non invasive blood test if a high risk result comes back- without charge). Apart from a couple of weeks earlier, is there something else I’m missing?
I guess it also depends when your 12 week scan actually happens as I know some can be 11 others at 13 weeks.

SnookyPook · 13/12/2023 21:05

@warmbutteredtoast I've got my first scan next Thursday due to recurrent losses this year and my scanxiety is already so bad. I keep getting intrusive thoughts about that moment with the heartbeat comment like you mentioned. It's horrible isn't it. No advice, just solidarity and sending you a big hug.

@Pixiedust138 I'm 6+2 and no major symptoms here. Main ones have been breast tenderness and gassiness. I've been a bit more tired but nothing like the absolute exhaustion I had with my DS. No nausea yet.. although like you, I think that hit a bit later for me. After my losses though it's actually really tough not having many symptoms! Which probably sounds mad to those really suffering! But I just want a bit of reassurance things are happening.

Thefaceofboe · 13/12/2023 21:16

Just hopping on here… got my positive test today with estimated due date at 21st of August ☺️ can’t believe it!

GeographyTeacher · 13/12/2023 21:30

@SnookyPook I have my first scan on Friday. I’ll be 6+6 and I’m already so worried. I’ve really gone back and forth about whether to have it but we go away for the week on Saturday and then it’s into a whirlwind of family stuff for Christmas. I decided I’d rather have it than not have it. I’d rather know if it’s not good news than not know as with my MMC I went weeks thinking all was ok and it wasn’t.

@warmbutteredtoast I agree with this so much…that intake of breath just before they speak. That moment when they said to me ‘and how many weeks did you say you’re meant to be’ at an emergency scan the day before my 12 week scan….it’l never leave my mind. Fingers crossed for you! X

ElizaGolightly · 13/12/2023 21:31

@NelliePig @Pixiedust138 Hope you don't mind me joining on - I've got autoimmune conditions with severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Just got my booking appointment letter and it says I'll be consultant led and under OBS- Rheumatology at the hospital. Hopefully the increased monitoring will help as I had a MMC last year and didn't make it far enough to have scans until it was all over.

Got my booking appt this time at 7+4, next Friday which will be an exciting early Xmas treat :) Just nervous to make it there, having lots of symptoms and terrified of another mc.

justlonelystars · 13/12/2023 21:57

God I have a rough day today. I’m not even 4 weeks pregnant and the nausea and exhaustion is kicking my butt. It wasn’t this bad with my DS and I’ve got myself worrying about ectopic pregnancy now! Hope everyone else is doing okay

AJcats22 · 13/12/2023 21:59

Hello! Currenty 4w5d today! Predicted due date aug 17.

We had an early miscarriage in august with the lines being quite faint then bleeding starting at the 5w mark exactly so finding it very hard to relax and enjoy this time. Testing everyday to make sure we keep getting line progression!

please tell me im not the only one??

Due August 2024!
warmbutteredtoast · 13/12/2023 22:21

@AJcats22 That's some lovely line progression! I haven't tested everyday but done every other or every 3, I need to stop now, can't help the ' why isn't it is dark as control line yet' thought creeping in but it's not helpful

@GeographyTeacher so sorry for your loss, and that awful moment you've had too. And thank you @SnookyPook, big hug back to you and hope your scanxiety settles down ❤️
Happy healthy scans & pregnancies to us for this time!

Due August 2024!
SnookyPook · 13/12/2023 22:22

@GeographyTeacher big hugs! Yes, I'm the same, terrified but also, want to know if it's not good news. My mmc was diagnosed at 11+4 but had stopped developing at 7+5 so had the same of carrying them round for weeks oblivious. Will be thinking of you on Friday 💕

AJcats22 · 13/12/2023 22:24

@warmbutteredtoast thank you! Dont know when ill stop testing, we havent been further than 5 weeks so just taking it one day at a time and hopefully we’ll get there!

fingers crossed for us all ❤️

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 14/12/2023 00:05

@CurlyWurly1991 I know someone currently pregnant whose bloods came back fine at 12 weeks, but the 20 week scan has detected a potential genetic disorder. NIPT is more accurate than the NHS test and I think depending on the package screens more abnormalities. I didn't get it last time as my DH only really mentioned it just before my 20 week scan and at that point, with the baby kicking, any test results wouldn't make a difference. This time I'm considering it for reassurance - I'm 2 years older and so's he!
