Hi all! I'm 4 weeks exactly today, due date is 4th August ☺️ This will (hopefully) be DC2!

How is everyone feeling? I've got sore boobs, mild cramps and waves of nausea that I didn't get until week 6 with my DD so I guess it's starting early, lucky me 🥳

Is anyone else getting a breakout of spots?
My face has 3 or 4 giant painful spots that have just appeared out of nowhere and I've not really had any spots since I was a teenager.

RiverBear · 07/12/2023 22:40

@MaryHua yes!!! Painful ones that can't be burst on my chin and forehead - hideous!

MaryHua · 07/12/2023 22:45

@RiverBear taking it as a good sign that hormones are rising!! However ugly the spots are, I don't care 🙏🤞

FluffyKitty007 · 07/12/2023 23:33

Hello 😊
my first post on mums net, so far I’ve been just lurking for some random advice. Still struggling a little with all the acronyms 🤣

tested positive yesterday (and again today because I struggled to believe it), the very first pregnancy, I’m 34. I think the due date is 11 August based on the NHS calendar. It felt surreal that the online form asked at which hospital I will deliver!

i love the idea of a Facebook group and thanks for the tips on vaccines!

No symptoms so far apart from mild cramps. But I picked up a cold or something and spent 3 days in bed, still feeling very tired!

etaketak1991 · 08/12/2023 06:02

Congratulations again to all new joiners 🎉🎉 Welcome!

@earlytwentiesmama Yeah, it's normal for symptoms to disappear! They could have easily been post ovulation symptoms rather than pregnancy symptoms (they're the same 😂) My symptoms have been coming and going too x

@MaryHua Yup, got two nice big spots on my cheek! I have recently changed my moisturiser though, so not sure if it's hormones or that!

@MrsM21 I'm so not looking forward to the super powered nose. When I was pregnant with my DD, I could smell EVERYTHING. We had just moved into our house so lots of plastering, painting and new carpets - the only place I felt nose safe was in bed Grin

CurlyWurly1991 · 08/12/2023 07:05

Anyone that has been pregnant before and suffered with the fatigue and nausea first trimester, so you have any tips about how to prepare?
it was awful with my daughter but that was 10 years ago and I can hardly remember.
im doing a more flexible job now and often wfh so that would help a bit I think.
im also looking ahead on the calendar and (cautiously but optimistically) eyeing up weeks 6-10 as potentially the most difficult and wondering how I can cut my responsibilities right down.
trying to see everyone I want to before Xmas now and get stuff done in anticipation of feeling terrible within a couple of weeks… eek

SnookyPook · 08/12/2023 07:56

@CurlyWurly1991 we were in Lockdown for my first pregnancy and one of the upsides of that was working from home! I used to just fall asleep for catnaps at my desk! I was lucky to never be physically sick but I got bad nausea. I found nibbling on a rice cracker helped, and sipping a cup of ginger tea. Think that his around week 6-7 for me. I've not had anything yet aside from rise in hunger, slightly tender boobs and a bit more tired (though hard to distinguish what is pregnancy and what is having a toddler!)

fr4zzledmum · 08/12/2023 08:10

@CurlyWurly1991 I had my DD nearly 5 years ago, and I remember feeling so nauseous all day from week 7 until probably around week 16, although I was only sick a couple of times.

If I'm honest, eating was the only thing that kept the nausea at bay for a few minutes, so I had a steady supply of cereal bars in my desk drawer - but I definitely can't be doing that this time as I'm heavy enough as it is!

I tried rich tea biscuits, ginger ale etc. but nothing seemed to help. I remember crying over a pie around week 15 because I knew it was a good one but every time I took a bite, I wanted to be sick Grin DH was just like Hmm

Holrebbea · 08/12/2023 08:43

I haven't yet had any spots, however the gas, bloating and cramps are making things uncomfortable! Only 5 weeks so I'm hoping this is normal.

Anyone else wondering how to keep things a secret over the Christmas period??

fr4zzledmum · 08/12/2023 09:18

@Holrebbea I'm going to tell everyone I'm hungover after too much prosecco wrapping presents on Christmas eve. It's the only way people won't question it.

dueaug24 · 08/12/2023 09:45

Hi

I have seen there is a facebook group set up called "Babies Due August 2024 UK" already if anyones interested too 😊

blackcat33 · 08/12/2023 10:06

@EMJL Yes not too bad. Hope your are feeling okay xx

blackcat33 · 08/12/2023 10:09

@Pixiedust138 Ahh amazing. I think it’s a good size gap hopefully haha. How is your little boy? Hollie was 6th of May. She is into everything at the minute doesn’t sit still ever haha. x

FluffyKitty007 · 08/12/2023 11:06

@dueaug24 Joining a group like this sounds like an awkward way to announce it to the world. Everyone can see what groups you’re in ?

fr4zzledmum · 08/12/2023 11:15

I'm getting so fed up if trying to get through to the midwives office - no answer and they've not got back to me after my message.

I'm only 5 weeks so understand there's no mad rush but I also need to make sure the time is available in my works calendar without drawing attention!

MaryHua · 08/12/2023 11:18

Ah that's frustrating @fr4zzledmum
Is there a way you could ring your GP practice and tell them that you're not having any luck with the midwives number? Not sure if they have the power to do a call for you via a medical professionals direct line?...
I know every health board is different

MaryHua · 08/12/2023 11:21

@FluffyKitty007 I was worried about this too but it's a private group that you have to request to join and answer questions, and this is what Facebook says about private groups:

In a Private group, only members can see who's in the group and what they post. In a Public group, anyone can see who's in the group and what they post, including non-members. Discoverability of the group (e.g. finding your group in search both on and off Facebook, group suggestions) is a separate toggle.

graceinc22 · 08/12/2023 11:22

i was in a previous MN group and i think the name was something subtle, like "MN3" or something.

FluffyKitty007 · 08/12/2023 11:25

@MaryHua that’s helpful thanks!

anyone else struggling with a cold/flu/virus? Apparently something nasty is doing rounds and I’ve been battling it whole week

Edited

It's a private group, so no one can see other than other members of the group..

Olivia2019 · 08/12/2023 11:36

@FluffyKitty007
I was sick for 5 weeks and on antibiotics. Couldn't shift it at all. Only started feeling a bit better on Saturday and now the fatigue has kicked in 😂

Olivia2019 · 08/12/2023 11:40

@pontipinemum I want to tell DH so bad but he has complained previously about the way I "announced" it last time 😂
I was convinced it was a false positive and send him to Tesco to buy more test. When they turned positive I said it wasn't possible and called the GP to book an appointment to test my urine?

We weren't using any contraception so it was 100% possible haha.

I'm struggling at the moment too. I'm so tired but as soon as I e slept a few hours I wake up and can't go back to sleep 😩

deliwoman1 · 08/12/2023 11:48

Hi all, hope everyone is doing okay today, especially @CharTT33 - how are you?

Had a scan this morning. I’m supposed to be 6 weeks today based on LMP but pregnancy is measuring 5 weeks. It’s in the right place at least, which is what I was worried about. Theres a sac but no yolk. The nurse mentioned pregnancy of unknown location (which doesn’t make sense because there is a sac visible in my womb). She took my bloods. I’ll either be rescanned or bloods again before rescan.

I guess it’s just a waiting game to see if the pregnancy catches up. To be honest, I was expecting something like this. I didn’t ovulate until day 15 and I think i didn’t implant until possibly 10dpo, given the v faint positive at 12dpo, so there’s still a chance, but I’m not confident this pregnancy will stick. Not a very festive outlook for Christmas this year 😢

FluffyKitty007 · 08/12/2023 12:08

@deliwoman1 sorry to hear, I hope it works out!
