Hi all! I'm 4 weeks exactly today, due date is 4th August ☺️ This will (hopefully) be DC2!

How is everyone feeling? I've got sore boobs, mild cramps and waves of nausea that I didn't get until week 6 with my DD so I guess it's starting early, lucky me 🥳

Hi all, please can I nervously join? Recently found out I'm 4+6 weeks pregnant, after 2 previous consecutive miscarriages around 2 years ago. Trying to let myself get excited but also feeling very anxious, and have been having cramps the last couple of days (really hoping this is normal!)

MaryHua · 06/12/2023 16:40

@Holrebbea
Congratulations and welcome!
Everyone is feeling something similar to how you're feeling so you're in the right place. Very sorry to read about your losses.
Regarding the cramps, I'm having them too. Like twinges and pulling. I'm only hoping it's good signs. 🤞

@Isitisit I feel the same, despite never being pregnant before. So it's important to guard your heart ♥️

MaryHua · 06/12/2023 17:49

Does anyone know if increasing HCG levels correlates to a progressing viable pregnancy?
I'm planning to track the weeks with the clearblue digital tests and hoping to see the 2-3 weeks and then 3+ weeks flash up on the display as some comfort.

I know that it doesn't change after 3+ weeks and I've heard about the hook effect for line tests so I'm trying not to do daily testing.

What's other people's thoughts or experiences on the above?
Thanks 🙏

CurlyWurly1991 · 06/12/2023 17:54

@MaryHua i know this is done by some and provides reassurance but my impression is that it’s not an exact science. I imagine I could get anxious if I didn’t get the result I wanted. hcg concentrations in urine are affected by a lot of things. The tests just aren’t designed to be used in the way people do for ‘progression’. I think hcg blood betas (common in the US) will be more useful. Don’t think they are routinely done here except where there is concern due to recurrent bleeding etc?

I’ve only done the one test so far because I’m worried if I test again it will be negative!

missed the callback from the midwife (based at my GP) today and won’t probably be able to pick up tomorrow due to being at work in meetings etc so not sure when that’ll get sorted but I’m glad I’m in the system anyway. Only just missed my period so still very early days. Didn’t feel too bad after the flu jab so that’s a win 👍🏾

RiverBear · 06/12/2023 18:15

@MaryHua sorry I totally missed your reply earlier! I'm not letting myself get happy or excited either ... I'm going to find it so stressful I just know it!

RiverBear · 06/12/2023 18:20

Does one boob hurt wayyy more than the other? My left one is just a bit painful if i press on it in one or two spots but the other side hurts all over and feels harder and heavier?!

etaketak1991 · 06/12/2023 18:24

Congratulations to all the new joiners with BFPs ❤️🎉 Welcome!

I'm leading an international school trip with 60 students tomorrow and spending 7 hours on a coach 🤪 Praying for my sanity / abundance of sick bags...

@CurlyWurly1991 thanks for your reply and explaining. Makes a lot of sense.
So hard when there is nothing tangible to work with over the first few weeks.
And I suppose repeated testing doesn't change anything.
Hope you manage to get speaking to your midwife soon 🤞

@etaketak1991 good luck!! That sounds like a very exhausting day ahead 😅😅

SnookyPook · 06/12/2023 18:46

@etaketak1991 oh blimey! Rather you than me! Haha good luck! (Hope it's fun too)

@MaryHua what @CurlyWurly1991 said. I've also read lots online about the weeks predictor ones being a bit off - especially around the 2-3 and the 3+. It's very common for people not to get 3+ until 6wks (when it ought to be 5) and for some to never even see that. Some online reviews are quite scathing! When you look at the HCG ranges they cover I think 'normal' pregnancy can be much broader than they seem to allow for. That said, when I was oblivious in my first pregnancy, I did them and got reassurance from them moving on! I'm a bit delicate as I've had poor results my last two pregnancies with a 'not pregnant' and a 1-2 when I should have been closer to 3+... As you would imagine, neither of those ended well. This time round, I was planning to get a week's predictor and then completely forgot when I was in the shop and took it as a sign not to freak myself out with it all. In answer to your question too, although perfect HCG is definitely a good sign, it's not a guarantee of a viable pregnancy.

For those in their first pregnancy though, I would say, try to keep calm and hope for the best. I think I'd have been a lot more stressed in my first pregnancy if I'd been on MN from the start. I only found it in my third trimester! You have to remember that it is a bit skewed in terms of what you see of loss on here because people come to these forums for support. Most women have perfectly healthy pregnancies 💕 It's wise to be a little guarded but even after my 3 consecutive losses this year, I'm really trying to be as optimistic and hopeful as possible because this is a brand new pregnancy and there is always hope until there isn't. Xx

MaryHua · 06/12/2023 18:53

Thank you so much @SnookyPook for your lovely detailed message. It really has helped me look at things from a new perspective.

I will definitely try my best to focus on the good things going on, and not to obsess over every little thing my body does, or wonder when I can test again and if I should.

Best of luck for this pregnancy, as you say, each pregnancy is another chance and here's hoping you will have a beautiful rainbow baby to cherish and hold in 8 months. 🌈✨

SnookyPook · 06/12/2023 19:07

@MaryHua thank you so much 🙏🏼🌈💕

Tentatively joining here! Had a positive at 10DPO and it's getting darker, so hoping for a sticky bean 🤞

EDD is looking like 16th August, only 12DPO (hope I'm not the only early tester here 🤣). This will hopefully be our second as we have a 16month old. It took us 18 months to have a successful pregnancy with DD so I am quite shocked, although delighted, this one has only taken 3 cycles.

I am enjoying still feeling normal (although exhuasted) at the moment. Last time I had hyperemesis from 6 weeks and didn't stop vomiting until she was born. No idea how I'll manage if this happens again this time.

Congratulations to everyone on the BFPs!

Olivia2019 · 06/12/2023 21:18

@Jazzberryjam23 I've been a silent reader since testing positive yesterday. I'm 12 DPO and also due on the 16th August.

Didn't want to join the chat until I found someone else with a similar due date.

I so hope it sticks.

I have a soon to be 5 year old and this would be Nr.2

Congratulations to everyone's BFPs 💕💕💕

Glad to have a due date buddy and fellow early tester. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for us both. I am a serial tester, but I am now planning to wait until Saturday to test again. Hopefully, that means the HCG has doubled, and I see a good line progression 🤞

RiverBear · 06/12/2023 12:36

Hello! I'm going to join in too if that's ok 😊
I found out yesterday - 3 BFPs so phoned the community midwife team straight away. I'm 5 weeks + 1 today so the midwife won't be in touch until week 7 to arrange the first appointment. Due date is 7th August and it's my 1st pregnancy so am so lost and worried!

I have no symptoms really other than my boobs being tender when i press on them (only on the outside though). Every other possible symptom feels like it's just in my head!

Finding it so difficult not to keep testing. The 3 tests I did yesterday were strong. One was a dye stealer! So a test with lighter lines would stress me out. The uncertainty is killing me 😔 it's going to be a long few weeks I think!

It will be really nice to chat to you all cos it feels so lonely doesn't it?

7 August here too!

RiverBear · 06/12/2023 22:55

@Sunny1986 love it! Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly for us x

CharTT33 · 07/12/2023 07:02

Hey guys,

so I was having cramps all day yesterday I then fell asleep and it was all ok, slept like a baby woke up twice to wee. I have now got up to go to work morning wee and all that and I’ve got pink discharge in the toilet. I’m so scared, I’m petrified.

i am physically frozen to the spot this would be my 4 Mc.

deliwoman1 · 07/12/2023 07:16

Got 2-3 weeks on a Clearblue this morning which has depressed me. Supposedly 5+6 weeks today 😕 Is anyone else using these tests?

warmbutteredtoast · 07/12/2023 07:20

@CharTT33 Oh I'm so sorry how horrible and stressful. Can you get yourself in for a scan today? It's the only way of knowing. Really hoping it's all fine for you

CharTT33 · 07/12/2023 07:50

I have left a message on the EPU voicemail. I really don’t know. Honestly, I’ve called in sick to work. I’m a primary school teacher I have a guilty feeling for not being there for class too.

I am scared guys words can’t describe.

MaryHua · 07/12/2023 07:56

So so sorry @CharTT33 that you're going through that this morning!
I'm not well read or knowledgeable on this topic so I don't want to say anything incorrect. But I'm sending you lots of love and hope.
As for taking time off work, don't worry, in a couple of weeks it is Christmas and the school kids won't mind. You need to look after yourself right now as the priority.

@deliwoman1 I wouldn't stress too much about the clearblue tests, have read many things about the digital results being off or not accurate with their week display.

oh they're so inaccurate. I was testing waiting to see when they ticked over to 2-3 weeks (meant to be at 150) and only ticked over on the day i had my blood test which showed my levels were 600 so must have been well over 150 the day before when i tested too. they're really inaccurate!

CharTT33 · 07/12/2023 10:36

Thank you @MaryHua honrstly riddled with anxiety the EPU just called back some one more senior is gonna call back today. Sigh! I’m praying soooo much right now.

My left one, on tbe side is absolutely killing me, especially after sleeping!

fr4zzledmum · 07/12/2023 10:41

Well said @SnookyPook - Mumsnet is a great resource, but can often create more anxiety in those who are already anxious, purely because of the amount of anxious people present looking for support.
