Hi ladies, I couldn’t find another thread made, so made this as the other one was full. I will try tag a few people … if you can also tag.

@ttcttc 16th so on my 10 day countdown! Oh no! Do you maybe have an inner ear infection?

I bloody hope not 😂 just to add to all the other pregnancy drama... I can do without that lol

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 06/10/2023 19:17

@ttcttc look up videos for the Epley manoeuvre and give that a go, if it’s vertigo it’ll sort you right out! Quite useful to get someone to read you the instructions while you do it because it’s a bit fiddly

anna2101 · 06/10/2023 20:24

Hi! Due on the 30th of October like a few others it seems :) I'm hoping to avoid induction (which for me would be just about at or right before 41 weeks most likely), so already started doing all the raspberry tea drinking, bouncing, date eating etc.

Hopefulx · 07/10/2023 11:57

Place marking 💘

38+5 doing everything I can to bring on Labour naturally - clary sage oil, raspberry leaf tea, ball bouncing, dates and lots of walking!

Esl17 · 07/10/2023 12:43

Had my 40 week midwife appt on due date today - still no signs and she said his head still has a way to go to engage yet! Now booked in next weekend for an induction at 41+1 if he doesn’t put in an appearance by himself next week.

ForeverAndEvers · 07/10/2023 20:43

Placemarking too 💕. Congrats to all those who have had babies arrive in last few days.

I'm finally full term and on mat leave so wait is on. Sending solidarity to all those pregnant with toddlers. I have a very active one and it's exhausting!!

Hopefulx · 08/10/2023 09:17

Congratulations to everyone who have had their babies so far 💘💙

I am 39 weeks tomorrow and have hit a brick wall, feeling so fed up and time seems to be dragging so much! I know it’s only round the corner but not sleeping very well and just waiting is mentally hard. Just wondered if anyone else is feeling the same or if anyone has any tips with dealing with the last few weeks x

ForeverAndEvers · 08/10/2023 09:47

@Hopefulx I'm 37+4 and have a c section booked so not feeling it so much this time (although sleeping terribly) but I remember that feeling well from my first. Not sure I have any magical tips but I just tried to remain busy but rested. So lots of walks, podcasts, got very into mindful colouring. Basically just tried to keep my brain occupied so I wasn't counting down the minutes. Also tried to signal to friends and family that "are they hear yet" messages were far from helpful! Hope it's not too long for you.

Esl17 · 08/10/2023 10:08

@Hopefulx yes i 100% feel this especially now I’m actually ‘overdue’. If I knew this was going to happen I definitely would have tried to stay an extra week at work aswell - I only get 4 weeks full pay and already used 2 weeks of it before he’s even shown up! hindsight is a wonderful thing. Awful sleep last night I feel like he was wedged up under my ribs.

ES1986 · 08/10/2023 11:00

Congratulations to everyone who’s had their babies. I’m 37 weeks and just harvested colostrum for the first time. So proud of myself, even if I only managed 0.1ml! It was ok once I got the rhythm of it.
Baby was kicking as I did it too, don’t know if that’s just coincidence?

thecatsthecats · 08/10/2023 12:09

@ES1986 my baby goes nuts when I harvest colostrum. Bounces all over the place.

Hopefulx · 08/10/2023 12:29

@ForeverAndEvers thank you! When is your c section booked in for is it 39 weeks? Good luck with it. We’re going for a walk along the seafront today to try and keep my mind off of everything!

@Esl17 how long overdue are you? I said the exact same thing to my partner I wish I had worked another week but when you have to pre plan it all you just don’t know how it will all work out. Have you had a sweep yet? Hopefully your baby arrives very soon!

Esl17 · 08/10/2023 13:40

@Hopefulx only a day over to be fair! I actually declined a sweep yesterday - after doing some research and the risk of infection, contractions which don’t lead to anything and bleeding I decided it wasn’t for me. Went to the appointment with an open mind but the midwife’s very long acrylic nails sealed my decision for me hahha. She did agree that sweeps only work if your body is ready. She felt position of the baby and said his head still has quite a way to engage so based on that she guessed that my cervix was likely closed anyway. She did say I can always call and book a sweep for later in the week if I change my mind.

I am now booked in for an induction next weekend - I do actually feel better now I have a date and feel slightly more in control, if he does turn up during the week it’s a bonus I guess!

But am definitely feeling very uncomfortable and a bit bored - don’t want to make too many plans/ have the energy to do much anyway but also don’t want to be stuck indoors for another week.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 08/10/2023 15:22

@ES1986 well done! Mine always goes crazy when I harvest too. Best advice I have is do it after a bath (I’ve also started doing it twice a day now, once after a bath, once after a nap so that I’m proper zen and that really helps) also watching really cosy stuff helps-I normally love true crime and horror but when I watch while I’m harvesting the collostrum just stops!

Onethingiwantfor23 · 08/10/2023 20:30

I have my C-Section booked in for this coming week (38 weeks), am I allowed to wear nail varnish on my toe nails and how do I keep my harvested colostrum frozen?
Any tips for do's or dont's or recovery tips would be great as this is my first

ttcttc · 08/10/2023 20:56

I'm 38 weeks and seeing midwife Tuesday. Is she likely to do an internal examination? Seen on TikTok about people being dilated for weeks and I'm thinking how do they know.

NSx · 08/10/2023 21:41

Those of you who harvested colostrum…

I finally managed to get some out today ✨

my question is, the more you express, does more come out?
it seems a bit tedious for 1/2ml 😂😂😂😂🤣

OP posts:
Esl17 · 08/10/2023 22:33

@NSx yes I got no more than a few drops the first couple of times I tried - now I’m easily filling a whole syringe per sitting a week later! Stick with it!

thecatsthecats · 08/10/2023 22:33

@NSx - I find that if you leave it 10-20 mins, you can squeeze again and there's more, then switch back between boobs.

I can't promise that it doesn't get any less tedious though!

I've now switched to using freezer bags for breast milk, because over 24h it comes to about 25ml, so at least I don't have to fanny about labelling syringes.

LWestYorks · 08/10/2023 23:03

@Onethingiwantfor23 i had my first section on Wednesday at 39+2. Didn’t find the section itself too bad, recovery…..all I can say is keep up to medication every 4 hours don’t want and even if you think you feel okay take them. I’m still taking them religiously every 4 hours but managed with paracetamol and ibuprofen, they gave me codeine on the first day and hated how it made me feel. Take it easy, I’ve lived upstairs and the first day I went down were today (since coming home Thursday) don’t rush to do anything! They’ll give you laxatives to go to the toilet…..take them 😬 I had such bad wind after sorry TMI!!! Make sure you’ve got big big knickers to go above your scar for after and I’ve been having showers everyday and just letting the water run down to my scar and not putting any soap on it (don’t know what others do)

Good luck x

New2thisss · 08/10/2023 23:40

Some advice to those having vaginal birth or first baby, take the epidural if you can!! Had my waters broke this evening and it went from 0-100 sooo quick, the pressure of contractions down there was immense for me, not so much painful but just incredibly uncomfortable. I salute anyone who does it on gas & air or nothing! Obviously everyone is different but I would ask for it as soon as it becomes unbearable to save you later on.

Looks like I’m in for a long night waiting for little one to arrive 🥰🤞🏻

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 09/10/2023 04:44

@NSx yep, I only got 0.2ml the first time and now get a syringe a sitting (and sometimes two in a day!) it does take a while though, I think roughly 20 mins a sitting for me and the conditions have to be right (warm in bed watching something nice that you don’t have to fully focus on seems to work best)

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 09/10/2023 04:46

@New2thisss good luck! Hope you have your little one soon!

I’m 39 weeks today and so so ready for mine to arrive, going on a nice long walk tomorrow in the hopes that does something!

ForeverAndEvers · 09/10/2023 08:04

@Hopefulx yes 39 weeks, thank you. Hope you had a lovely walk and don't have too much longer to wait.

@Onethingiwantfor23 I've been told no nail varnish by my hospital but my friend was told it was fine so think it varies. On colostrum, last time I took it in a cool bag with a freezer block in. I'd really label it as sadly mine got lost. I gave it to the midwife and it just vanished so definitely clearly label and ask exactly where its going! Hope the c section goes well.
