Ah bless you @Phoenixwings1989, I hope you have a lovely team today that help you stay settled.

I feel nervous about my section too and being in hospital again after a traumatic stay during lockdown. Just need to try and focus on the end result- it won’t be long until you’re holding your baby ❤️

BambiBooBoo · 06/10/2023 09:13

After ringing maternity line yesterday morning after having contractions and being told "it's not contractions it sounds like a uti"😂
I had my little girl at 2:18 yesterday afternoon 💕 it definitely was contractions 😂😂

Sagittarius25 · 06/10/2023 09:15

So many babies, congrats all 😍

37 weeks today so officially full term, this baby is welcome to arrive whenever 😂

peonygirl · 06/10/2023 09:15

@Phoenixwings1989 another one here who's nervous about hospital stay. I am not used to the hospital environment and it stresses me out on a normal day. Now with operation in the mix and all the needles involved, plus already high blood pressure, I really struggle. But the journey has been so long and this is the last push, so I am trying my best to keep calm and collected. It is hard and small steps will get us there. Good luck today, hope all goes well!

haha this made me giggle. Congratulations for your little girl!💗

doeandfawn · 06/10/2023 09:20

@BambiBooBoo congratulations!! Can’t imagine how bad that midwife’s uti symptoms must usually be to confuse them for labour hahahahahaha

PeopleAreToads · 06/10/2023 09:27

@hipposinacircle feel your pain with people asking about dates!

I'm going to be induced rather than a section, but that makes me even less inclined to share the date because I know I could be in hospital for a few days before she even arrives and can't face the messages asking for updates.

To be fair we don't even have a set date yet and won't til less than a week before so I'm just saying no decision has been made

Sav96 · 06/10/2023 09:51

@VanillaOat

hope you don’t mind me asking but how are you feeling/any signs after loosing your mucus plug yesterday? I lost mine yesterday morning too and had a bloody show but nothing since 😫

VanillaOat · 06/10/2023 10:53

@Sav96 I’ve had absolutely no other signs either, other than quite a lot of discharge which I keep second guessing might be my waters…but definitely isn’t! Mine didn’t have blood in but I have read that if there is blood, it’s more likely a sign of impending labour, so fingers crossed for you!!! How far along are you?xxx

Maya34 · 06/10/2023 11:01

Hello everybody! Congratulations on all newborns💐😊
Just have one question - I need to have a c-section due to issues with my eyes in the past. My due date is 30 of October. I only discussed c-section option on my appointment with doctor at 13 weeks and she said I will have c-srction date booked for me at about 39 weeks. So I assume 22-23 of October. But nobody contacted me with exact date since then... So should I ask about it on my midwife appointment or I will be contacted soon - how it usually works? Thanks a lot in advance.

peonygirl · 06/10/2023 11:10

@Maya34 I would definitely inquire because you cannot rely that they will actually be vigilant on their own. I learned I needed to be proactive throughout the pregnancy. In my case, they struggled to find a slot for me the other day because they are so busy so you should get a date at your 36w appointment (which should be around now - if not, call your midwife and inquire). They generally suggest c-sections at 39w due to lung development so if no other health risks you can expect it to be booked w/c 23rd October. It was a plan for me too but they decided to do it a week earlier due to health conditions that cropped up in the last two weeks.

PeopleAreToads · 06/10/2023 11:27

@Maya34 I had similar with induction, discussed with consultant at 20 weeks and heard nothing and my community midwife couldn't help. Asked a hospital midwife at my 36 week scan who asked them to book me to see a consultant, but that's not happening til I'm 39 weeks. And I wouldn't have had the appointment til a week later if I'd not pushed and said the consultant had said earlier it needed to happen by 39 weeks. So expecting to go for the appointment and not come home

So I would say definitely contact the hospital

doeandfawn · 06/10/2023 11:34

@Maya34 also originally due 30th, I got my section date at the consultant appointment where we decided on ELCS. Definitely definitely push for a solid date now.

Side tangent but I know quite a few of us were due 30th; are we all going cs now haha?

Maya34 · 06/10/2023 11:40

Thanks a lot for the information🙏🏻I have my midwife appointment today so will raise this issue

BeaKind · 06/10/2023 11:56

@doeandfawn I’m due 30th but going for VBAC 😬

Mums that are still pregnant and have a toddler, HOW ARE YOU COPING? 😅 our TV has been on waaaaay more than I’d like but I don’t have any energy at all and everything is a battle with my little boy. Just getting dressed takes about 3 hours because I can’t stand the tantrum it comes with, I so just wait until he’s ready or I’ve cried. 🤪

doeandfawn · 06/10/2023 12:00

@BeaKind ooooh good luck!

BambiBooBoo · 06/10/2023 12:15

Thank you 💕

She literally made me laugh at her on the phone 😂 good job I ignored her and went in anyways

Sav96 · 06/10/2023 12:39

@VanillaOat oh no sorry to hear, I was hoping at least one of us would have had some signs!

I’m the same just extra discharge which is slightly brown from the bloody show. I think mine only had blood due to having a sweep the day before maybe? I think I’m around a week behind you I’m 38+5! Xxx

Smiffette · 06/10/2023 12:53

@BeaKind I have a 3 year old DD and luckily we have been managing ok. She's always been pretty good at self play so generally quite happy on the days I have zero energy! She is at nursery 3 days a week which helps!

I'm just hoping it continues this way when baby boy actually arrives!

Ss32 · 06/10/2023 13:03

@BeaKind our baby is here now but omg, getting my little girl dressed for nursery was torture from about 36 weeks onwards, one of us always ended up in tears 🤣 I hope you’ve not got long to go. Being pregnant whilst having a toddler really is the most challenging thing I’ve ever been through!

Phoenixwings1989 · 06/10/2023 13:26

@Koalawhala oh I'm sorry to read you had a traumatic stay during lockdown. My time in hospital wasn't a pleasant one, either. I had a midwife have a go at me because I'd fallen asleep and I hadn't heard baby cry and she was demanding to know why. I was on my own and recovering from the section as DH had to leave. I think it contributed to my postnatal health a bit as she made me feel lousy for not hearing her. The team I've met so far have been lovely though and that was only one bad egg out of many good ones.

@peonygirl Thank you! I know it is anxiety inducing to think about staying in hospital. Have you received a date yet for when you're having yours?

I'm just waiting for the anaesthetist to come and put my cannula in. Midwife/nurse did try but was unsuccessful due to my vein disappearing on her. Also tried to get blood elsewhere and no joy. I have horrible veins as they're thin and spidery and tend to disappear at the drop of a hat 🤦. Then we'll be down to theatre.

I wasn't this nervous first time round but for some reason I am jittery as heck about this time.

VanillaOat · 06/10/2023 13:59

@Sav96 how was your sweep and how come they gave you one so early? I’ve got the option to have one on Tuesday and not really sure what to do!

Sav96 · 06/10/2023 15:01

@VanillaOat My midwife practice offers sweeps from 38 weeks as does my local hospital!

sweep at midwives wasn’t very pleasant to be honest, I have a posterior cervix and she couldn’t reach so just felt painful and for no gain to be honest, I was quite deflated after. Hospital repeated it the next day and was able to reach even though posterior and was much more successful. I would say it is just slightly more uncomfortable than a smear but it was tolerable. I was already 1.5cm dilated, cervix in length was 1/2cm and soft, she said she could feel the waters and babies head so not surprised I lost my mucus plug/had a bloody show but did think I would have had him by now 🙈 im getting induced on Sunday so was wanting the sweep to see if I could bring Labour on before induction xxx

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 06/10/2023 18:23

Anyone who’s given birth naturally found anything particularly useful in naturally inducing? So far I’m on 6 dates a day, 3 raspberry leaf teabags, harvesting colostrum, clary sage oil on belly and in baths, sex and yoga as well as as much walking as I can manage and bouncing on my pregnancy ball for ages each evening - baby feels super low but so far no cigar!

ttcttc · 06/10/2023 18:48

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween when are you due? I'm not due until 21st so haven't really tried much as only 38 week but been on the birthing hall today and it makes me feel sick and dizzy. Great 🙄
