@CL05071998 I’m with you in the sleep. The c curl position is killer isn’t it? Sometimes I put baby in her next to me knowing it will only be an hour, but at least I can stretch out for a bit or sleep on my other side.

I’m really trying to get her to go off on her own and trying to encourage her to link sleep cycles a bit, especially for her naps. She goes off on her own with no dummy so I’m hoping it’s just time. But we’ve like this for about 2 months now 😅

I keep questioning if she’s getting enough calories in the day as she feeds a LOT at night! I’m going to make a conscious effort this week to get more milk in her in the day and might even try a formula before bed although I know that has mixed reviews as to whether it works or not.

How many feeds are breastfed babies doing in the day?

CL05071998 · 25/03/2024 13:30

@BeaKind yep the hour stretch is lovely, the C curl is tough on the body and these little people take up a lot of space in the bed. Last night we had a bit of a better night, 9pm to 1.30am in his cot but holding my hand, which is cute but uncomfortable lol! Took about 45 mins to resettle and feed and then got another 2 hours so will keep at it. I feel like bow he is more alert he gets a little more distracted during feeds and feeds a lot at night. I think we are doing about 6 feeds a day maybe, but not certain. We have just started on solids this week so hoping that fills him up a bit as well.

Onethingiwantfor23 · 25/03/2024 16:25

I've told my 5 month old he is slowly killing me. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
I'm so sleep deprived and my body is in agony.
He'll do the first hour in his next to me and then he's in with me and waking every hour and won't take a cuddle or dummy and will scream until I give him the boob.

We're now on week 5!

EFFECTIVE WAYS TO TREAT THRUSH WHILE PREGNANT??

Hello,

I was wandering if anyone knew about an effective way to treat recurrent thrush In pregnancy??

I went to my GP today and she said there’s not a lot you can do as I’m 12 weeks pregnant and prescribed just an external cream?!

does anyone know or have tried this 7 days course of thrush treatment from boots or anything else that may work at all??

any help is much appreciated!!

@Onethingiwantfor23 we’ve had about 6 weeks too. It’s so hard! I’ve been trying to let her practice link sleep cycles and have stopped sleep associations (dummy and breastfeeding to sleep). So, I’m putting her in her cot for naps when she’s tired with white noise, lullaby, in her sleep bag and with a her comforter. Blinds shut too. I think they just have to crack linking those sleep cycles then they’ll go longer at night…I’m hoping anyway!

She’s napping at the moment and I heard her wake after an hour, then she went quiet. Gone to look at her and she’s back asleep. Now it’s been an hour and 20 mins 🥳 so maybe she’s learning! Last night she went 2.5 hours between wakes which was a breakthrough from hourly!

So, I’m counting my chickens before they’ve hatched and saying in a very wordy way to hang in there! I have hope that our babies will be sleeping through the night any day now 😅

Hi @MaryAnne2024 i found the caneston pessaries worked well and midwives said they were fine to take. I’d mention it to them in your next appt if the gp is just saying cream. Pharmacists don’t like to give the pessaries to pregnant women so you may have to tell them it’s for your mum or something 🙊

@CL05071998 I moved his next to me cot away from my bed - so it is standing on its own but is still next to the bed (I hope this makes sense). He has been sleeping in his cot since he was 2.5months old, sleeps there every night with an occasional velcro night which is totally random and I just go with the flow. He is very expressive, will indicate quite clearly he is not going to sleep in his cot and hugs my shoulder like his life depends on it. I then just need to accept that the night will be ruined. I also work around routine, we established a daily routine when he was 2 months old. I am now trying to mix things up a bit so he gets more flexible with the set routine and being older and more observant, it usually works without too much stress. He is 5 months old now.

I would say build consistency and reassure your baby you are around but also walk away. Then come back and walk away again. This way he knows you are close. I also use white noise - we both like heavy rain sound and I play it on Youtube throughout the night. Next, repetition - every night going to bed is the same. I use the same ritual, more or less the same words, the prep is the same - we get his bottle, then nappy change and change into a new pj, then it is story time and I start turning off all lights, TV etc. We play Neil Diamond songs (don't ask :)). and he will relax quite quickly, then I carry him around the flat, soothing him while the room is ready for bedtime. I will then play his mobile once or twice and put him down, stroke his cheeks, shhh -ing a bit and walk away. I leave the doors open, come back, shhhh a bit more and walk away. He is fast asleep in 10min when I cover him up. It did take several weeks for him to get used to this routine but it is working for us now. How long for - no idea, with teething happening all the time, it might need a readjusting but that's ok, we are all learning :)

Checking in to see how everyone is doing?

I think most, if not all our babies must be 6 months + now! Where has that gone!

Ive been weaning for about 6 weeks now I think and my boy definitely loves his food. He is such a good little eater.

NSx · 05/05/2024 07:20

Hi 🩷 my baby turned 6 months yesterday … I’m sure she’s the youngest of the group.
we’ve been weaning for a week or 2 but just some spoonfuls here and there trying different textures and flavours ….
slowly but surely she’s accepting of food 😂 what does your little one like to eat? Are you blending or giving in pieces?

how is everyone?

OP posts:
FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 05/05/2024 07:59

@NSx mine started at 5 months and we’re now starting different textures although he still loves a purée and we use purées when we’re out and about for ease! I blended some porridge oats for him and they’ve been a big hit, especially with puréed apple and cinnamon and he’s a huge scrambled egg fan!

PrimarilyParented · 05/05/2024 17:25

@NSx mine is more than 7 months now. We’ve been weaning since 5.5 months as he was literally lunging at our food to steal it. Haven’t found a thing he won’t eat yet, but he loves finger foods rather than purées as he likes to feed himself. Toast is by far his favourite with home made hummus.

missquiet · 07/05/2024 20:20

Similar to op baby boy loves food and always tries to get what we are eating.
I started early 4.5 months as he seemed ready, started with lured but not much more textured and real food too.

He has toast for breakie... tried butter, peanut butter, marmite so far. Sometimes has some hummus on toast, he loves it. Wheatibix is a good one too all soaked in his milk.

I give him what we have just smushed down so still textured but more manageable

NSx · 10/05/2024 09:50

Ahhhh sounds like everyone’s babies are thriving and enjoying eating 🩷
my little one is starting to get the hang of it, but it’s still early days 😂 I just give her bits of whatever I’m having really…
I can’t wait until she can eat proper food, we’re still on purés and the occasional finger food atm.

How is everyone ?

Nearly a year already ❤️

Onethingiwantfor23 · 27/08/2024 23:00

10 month old still waking hourly through the night to feed! Hmm
Absolutely love being a Mummy - my dream come true.

How are these babies coming upto a year already Shock makes me want to cry!

Sagittarius25 · 28/08/2024 06:54

10 month old sooooo active, wants to be on feet all the time, pulling to stand at every chance. Such a cheeky happy boy. Love him to pieces.

My last full week off work this week before I start phasing back to work!

Hopefulx · 28/08/2024 07:03

Good thank you! Our little girl is whizzing around crawling everywhere 😂 she’s my shadow, can’t have a pee without here there but wouldn’t change it for the world. How are you and your little one doing?

how is everyone?

ttcttc · 28/08/2024 07:17

My little one has been a bit of a lazy little man. Hasn't quite grasped crawling (but nearly there). Loves to stand on his own feet and clap his hands. He's so pleasant, bless him.. always a smile for everyone. He's really chill, likes to feed himself his bottle and eat yoghurt 😂.

He slept from 8 week ish (few odd nights) but he's up allll the time now 🧟. Hes 10 month today... hope it passes soon.

I'm looking at a new car seat, what a mind field!!

Hopefulx · 28/08/2024 07:28

Aw sounds like they are all coming along. I have no idea about car seats! DD is still in the one from birth.

does anyone have tips for brushing their teeth? DD started off ok and now refuses to open her mouth unless we let her do it which might help a bit but I don’t think she’s getting the teeth much

thecatsthecats · 28/08/2024 09:54

My son is a little rocket who crawled bang on seven months, but not walking yet, mainly because he can climb anywhere he wants to ade it to the kitchen counter the other day.

He also has a billion teeth already. Ok, it's seven. But still...

For teeth brushing, I tend to go easy on him because I don't want it to be a battle and he's so often in teething pain. I have those rubber finger brushes, so I smear toothpaste on those and let him chew it, whilst gradually pulling it around.

We're off to the dentist next week, so I'll see about tips, but she did say to me that a third attempt at brushing in the day wouldn't hurt.

Ss32 · 28/08/2024 11:01

Ahh this is a lovely blast from the past (ok, only 10 months but feels like a long time ago!). Ours is also very active, here there and everywhere, she has been the happiest and most pleasant baby! Still sleeps like crap 🤣 desperate to walk but not quite there yet and we’ve got quite a few single words, she’s a real chatterbox! Weaning’s fine but she’s not really a massive foodie (unless it’s ice cream!)

NSx · 30/08/2024 08:57

Hi everyone 🩷
So I think my girl is the youngest she will be 10 months next week.
She has taken her first steps but is still very wobbly needs to find her balance.
Loves to chat says mumumumum and dadaadada it’s so funny!
Has 2 bottom front teeth but top two are just coming in. She’s a bit miserable with it. Will take her to the dentist when we get back from holiday. Going back to work 1 October and she starts nursery and dreading it.
has anyone’s baby started yet 😩🥹🥹🥹 xxx

Hi all! Little man is 10 months now and on the verge of walking unaided-he walks confidently with his walker and holding onto furniture-stair gates have been a blessing! I’ve been back at work a month and a half now and he is loving nursery two days a week and a day with his grandparents one day a week, he’s so social and is learning so many skills! Currently trying to say ‘dog’ (but comes out as ‘ogg’) and has got Dada, Mama, Nana and Car. Loves food, has 3 meals a day and snacks and particularly like whatever’s on our plates! Mostly sleeps through the night now but the early wakes are a killer

OrionNebula · 30/08/2024 09:14

Aw lovely to hear from everyone Smile baby is nearly 11 months, flying around the place crawling, standing on her own for a few seconds but not walking yet. Babbling loads, loves music and getting up to mischief with her sister! She's a great eater so far, has taken everything I've given her.
Interesting to hear some are using toothpaste already, the advice here in Ireland is not to use fluoride toothpaste until 2 years, so I am just using a finger brush and water. Are there non/fluoride pastes available?

Smiffette · 01/09/2024 22:17

Lovely to read all the updates.
My little boy is 10 months, crawling super speedy since 7 months. Has his 2 bottom teeth that came through at 9 months, I think the top 2 won't be much longer.
Stands really well without holding on and wizzes around either Walker, not walked independently yet.
Last two days he's done really well with food so I think we've tend the colour there as he was still having 4-5 7 ounce bottles in a 24 hour period.
He was doing well with sleep but over the last month is back to waking 3 times and wanting milk each time.
He is such a smiley happy little boy though, waving is just the cutest and watching him with DD is so cute 🥰
