@katherine123x Baby is a dream except for the 1-1.5 hour wake up calls throughout the night for a feed - is good as gold though and goes straight back to sleep. He's 7 weeks tomorrow and has had a stuffy nose for 2.5 weeks.
He's really chilled, loves his cuddles and has been cooing and smiling since 4 weeks.
I love being his Mummy but the tiredness has kicked in 🥱
Hope everyone else is enjoying Mummy and baby life 🥰

katherine123x · 27/11/2023 20:37

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween house stuff is so hard isn't it. I really struggle some days with it!! But try and remind myself it doesn't matter ..
@Onethingiwantfor23 those little smiles make all the wake ups totally worth it!!

NSx · 28/11/2023 11:58

Does anyone else’s baby have a witching hour or 2 between 9-11pm 😂 my baby does NOT want to goto sleep between these hours and literally fights it, she is so fussy! Other than that she sleeps well, 3h sometimes even 4h between feeds in the night, she’s only 3 weeks old, but doing so well! 🩷

Has anyone dealt with clogged milk ducts? I’ve had one on my left side for a few days and can’t seem to shift it! What has everyone else done?

katherine123x · 28/11/2023 12:06

@NSx had this for a week or so ... nothing worked!! Bath helped but just had to go for it and keep calm!!

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween stand under a hot shower and let the water hit you. Then slowly hand express. That helped me!

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 28/11/2023 12:07

@katherine123x thank you! Been trying that and warm compresses but no luck so far

katherine123x · 28/11/2023 12:18

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween maybe discuss with HV you don't want to end up with mastitis!!

Koalawhala · 28/11/2023 15:27

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween ive had this a few times. Feeding from different angles might help -like literally lean over baby and let the boob hang down! Massage before/during a feed too ideally between the block and the nipple

NSx · 28/11/2023 20:13

@katherine123x thanks fir the advice it’s reassuring to know it’s not just happening to me 😅😅.

how often do you bath your little one?

OP posts:
katherine123x · 28/11/2023 20:43

@NSx every other day. He absolutely loves it so really helped during that time. So much so he would kick off when having to get out (not cold as would warm two towels on radiator for him) we ended up saving some of his bottle for after the bath

Try it .. just as the witching hour begins. Might give you half hour sanity!!

kingfisher168 · 28/11/2023 21:56

@NSx we've had this at about 4-5 weeks, just as DH was away for a few days, that's when my first tears came in due to her crying. Nothing would soothe her but the football hold! I honestly swear by it even now when she gets fussy. Though now any evening fussiness is just overtiredness so I do the football hold while walking around a bit, then I lay her on my chest and she is down straight away. Of course that's all only if the boob won't help 😂

Very envious of those getting 1.5hr stretches, if she is in her cot I get 40 mins max, only get up to 2 hrs if bed sharing, which has saved my sanity and stopped us both from sleep deprivation! Any tips on cot sleeping for EBF babies?

kingfisher168 · 28/11/2023 21:57

Oh and also while in the football hold, gently tapping their bum repeatedly really helps, I think the rhythm of it soothes them.

PrimarilyParented · 28/11/2023 23:09

@NSx yes! Incredibly my little boy is 2 months old today and he has pretty much never slept in the evenings. He’s stopped cluster feeding but is still awake then but usually then sleeps for 4 (even 5 once) hours afterwards.

PrimarilyParented · 28/11/2023 23:11

P.s. infacol helped loads with my first born though thankfully this baby isn’t screaming so much as just awake all evening.

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 29/11/2023 00:45

@kingfisher168 what are you putting him to bed in? Ours didn’t sleep long at all in swaddles but as soon as we changed him to a sleep sack he suddenly did loads better! Then when he started waking up more again we tried him on a heavier tog and he went back to sleeping 2-3 hours at a time. I do have to force him to have longer feeds at night (lots of feet tickling and nappy changes mid feed) because otherwise he falls asleep on the boob but then wakes up in shorter periods. Hope that helps!

kingfisher168 · 29/11/2023 04:56

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween those are good points and it's likely to be a combination of those - we only do sleep sacks as she hates a swaddle but perhaps I need to ay a bit more with what she wears under so that she is nice and warm. Will so try to feed more - I only stuck to one breast as she has a bad reflux so am trying to avoid to pukemageddon every night, but it's worth trying. Thank you 😊

katherine123x · 29/11/2023 08:17

@kingfisher168 I tried a blanket swaddle and sleeping bags. The best thing I've found is the love to dream arms up swaddle. It was an instant game changer !!!! Expensive but worth it ...

kingfisher168 · 29/11/2023 08:53

@katherine123x yes we have one too (though was thoroughly covered in milk during the night) and agree it improved things a bit but not perfect. I think I just need to master what to wear under. Do you just put a onesie under or onesie and pyjamas? I have everything 2.5tog but bedroom temperature ranges between 22 and 17 throughout the night 😥

katherine123x · 29/11/2023 09:05

@kingfisher168 we have a short sleeve bodysuit and a baby grow underneath!!
Room ranges the same as yours pretty much! I think he does wake up cold around 5am but we have a quick cuddle and he resettles back down!!

We had jabs yesterday... temperature peaked at 1am!! Have calpol at the ready ladies!!

kingfisher168 · 29/11/2023 09:24

Ahhh that's good to know @katherine123x , and here I thought everyone has a magic bedroom where temperature stays the same to make it easy to be guided by the official 'what to wear' guidelines 😀 I shall try that tonight!

Awww bless, lots of cuddles for you and your little one today x

katherine123x · 29/11/2023 10:08

@kingfisher168 nope!! Just roll with what works for you ... the range is massive.
The coldest part of our morning is about 5 so might start getting the heating to boost!

cruciverbalista · 06/12/2023 12:03

How is everyone getting on with the 8 week jabs? Ours are scheduled for Monday and I'm nervous.

OrionNebula · 06/12/2023 15:19

@cruciverbalista mine had hers on Monday. I breastfed her while they were giving them and that seemed to really help with the pain. She did cry quite a bit in the evening, I gave her calpol and she settled fine for the night then.

katherine123x · 06/12/2023 15:30

@cruciverbalista calpol half hour before the jabs!!
Temperature peaked 10 hours after for us so will ensure next lot are in the morning to avoid 1am temp of 38.6!!!

missquiet · 07/12/2023 14:41

My DS are booked for a week Wednesday! really hope he does ok and doesn't feel poorly over Christmas.
