Hi! Just had a BFP after a MC at 8 weeks last year, and am looking for folks to breathe through the next few weeks with. I am in an age bracket where MC risk is high and I’m trying not to get ahead of myself!

Had our 12 week scan today. Measuring a little furniture ahead. Anyway I'd love for you lot to guess boy or girl. I dont know how nub theory works or if this is even a good picture for it 😆.

@Sd183 hey lovely if you're feeling anxious try calling your epu for a scan and explain you've had a loss of symptoms. I'm not sure what it's like nowadays but in previous pregnancies they've given me extra scans for that. Waiting is so stressful!!

Dani46 · 29/11/2023 22:47

@Sd183 my symptoms have barely been there, and I was so worried! Especially after having a mmc in July. I also had a slight bleed at just over 7 weeks and I thought that was it. I called epu and they was great and I have been scanned there 3 times this pregnancy. I had my dating scan today too and all is good, I’m even measuring ahead.
The placenta takes over but I know it’s still a worrying time. I would call Epu to help and ask for a scan, I’m sure they will book you in. X

Also had my dating scan yesterday and it went so well. I can't describe how relieved I was to see a real little baby kicking around in there.
I'm measuring a whole week ahead of my LMP so my due date has actually moved to end of May but I'll be staying in this group as I suspect they'll come a few days late at least!

VJFord · 30/11/2023 11:39

I had my booking appointment today. This is my fourth pregnancy (no living children), so the booking appt is quite familiar now. I asked for the same midwife who has cared for me previously. I really like her and it helps not to have to keep repeating my history over and over again. I feel like I also did a brave thing and agreed to have a student midwife in the appointment. I was wary at first as I don't like having to encounter new people following multiple losses, but I think it is probably important to learn about care in pregnancy after loss so I agreed, and the student was lovely and very professional, so I didn't need to worry at all.

MizzMarple · 30/11/2023 18:45

@VJFord sorry to hear about your losses and pleased to hear the student midwife was nice.
I had my booking appointment yesterday and it really upset me which I wasn’t expecting. I think it was having the same midwife and going through it all again. Like an awful deja vu.

Catson · 30/11/2023 19:50

@VJFord @MizzMarple I hope everything goes well this time 💞

I have a dilemma. I need to go to the office on Monday and I have no suitable work trousers/skirts that fit. I need to dress smartly but also need to try and hide my tummy which is VERY bloated. I'm only 10 weeks so haven't told them yet. Please can anyone send me any links or inspiration of outfits.. I think ideally maternity bottoms but can be matched with non maternity top.(While my tummy is bloated a maternity top would only highlight the fat it's big I think). And quick delivery. Any maternity clothes in shops are 1+ hours from me so online is really the only option.

Marshmallowtoastie · 30/11/2023 20:12

M&S is quick delivery to store normally. I picked up some of their maternity stuff recently.
also you could do asos? A few online stores do next day delivery but you may have to pay more at the weekend.
how much are things not fitting though? Is it just a bit?
I’ve started just wearing very baggy unflattering shirts and winter jumpers, some a size too big or just oversized ones.
then instead of tucking in I leave them to sit over the top of my jeans.
you can then do that hair tie trick with your jeans which gives you an extra inch or so.

DemelzaRobins · 30/11/2023 20:58

Would clothes in the next size up be an option? Might be quicker and easier to get hold of than maternity clothes. Maybe pick looser styles for comfort and to give yourself some room to grow.

Next often deliver to store the next day for free. A lot of shops will do next day delivery to your home but will charge a higher delivery fee.

NorthernDaisy · 30/11/2023 21:51

@Catson I've found that jackets or cardigans which skim over the tummy work really well ATM. In the office today I wore a normal jacket with normal trousers unbuttoned at the top (hope that doesn't sound too weird - they do have a zip as well!) I ordered some maternity trousers at the weekend though - I think this will be my last week (12 weeks) in my ordinary trousers!

VJFord · 30/11/2023 21:57

@MizzMarple I'm so sorry that it was upsetting. It's definitely difficult having to go through it all again. I find just being back in the building such a hard thing to do. If you're not feeling it, you can ask for a different midwife next time. Don't force yourself through something if it doesn't feel right ❤️

Catson · 01/12/2023 07:37

Thanks @Marshmallowtoastie I couldn't see anything other than jeans and bras on m&s so I'll have another look.

I was in jeans the next size up at 6 weeks and free out of them at 8 weeks so I'm fully on maternity jeans now 🫠 but I agree, that would be much easier otherwise. Unfortunately I never seem to be able to collect from my local Next (over 40 mins away), it never comes up as an option 🙈 I'll maybe see if anything can be delivered tomorrow though.

With my first this stage seemed much easier and I wasn't in maternity jeans until much later. I have diastis recti which I don't think is helping the situation

BellaMolly · 01/12/2023 10:08

Lurker here finally joining!

I'm due around 21 June 2024 (on apps and my own calcs) and have my NHS dating scan next week. (I've had 2 scans at the EPAU already and a private scan that all seem to match).

I've been told to expect to be at the hospital for a "minimum of 4 hours" for that appointment in the invite letter- is that normal?

Wheeeeee · 01/12/2023 10:11

@BellaMolly I don't remember my scan in my previous pregnancy taking anywhere near that long, even factoring in having bloods taken, flu vaccine etc. I guess you just have to roll with it though 😬

I celebrated getting to 11 weeks this morning by throwing up my breakfast. C'mon placenta!

BellaMolly · 01/12/2023 10:14

Snap on the breakfast!

Thanks! Yeah, it had a 2 and it had been crossed through with a pen and 4 written in. I'm hoping it just means it's a busy clinic rather than there's something to follow up on from booking bloods etc! Will have to wait and see 🙈

Jak803 · 01/12/2023 10:41

I’m still a weird mix of small bump and looking bloated! I’ve been digging out old low rise jeans (which definitely didn’t work anymore post pregnancy!) and wearing them with baggy jumpers, the jeans sit under the bump. That’s my main wardrobe for now!

Dani46 · 01/12/2023 10:52

@BellaMolly I had my dating scan last Wednesday and I was in there for about 3 hours. I had my flu jab last week so it was just my scan then to see the midwife and have bloods taken. I think I was waiting about 40 mins though to see the midwife so that might have been why

I look like I’ve had an extra bowl of pasta! Usually wear maxi dresses anyway so hope I can continue with them and a big scarf.

Catson · 01/12/2023 17:21

@BellaMolly I'm 99% positive that if something has shown up in your bloods, and especially if it's going to take 2 hours to chat through, they wouldn't be waiting until your 12 week scan to chat to you about it. It sounds like it's more to do with waiting times if you're having bloods etc after

Catson · 01/12/2023 17:24

Do you have to pay to park at the hospital @BellaMolly , if you do what are the timings for each price? I wonder if some people have paid for up to 2 hours and then got tickets so they're saying at least 4 hours so you'll maybe pay for up to 6 hours, for example? Or for people arranging public transport etc. There must be a more practical explanation to warn you of the time you might be there

Littlelionroar1982 · 01/12/2023 21:10

@DanisEndo This is/was my biggest symptom but I am also sick. I’m now on prochloroperazine for the sickness/nausea during the day, promethazine on a evening (helps you sleep too) and omeprazole with gaviscon for the lump in my throat which is stomach acid - the worst part. I can deal with the sick on its own it’s the constant feeling of about to be sick that kills it. This is a winning combination so far I’ve only been sick 3 times today and I’m 10 weeks on Sunday. Had an easily scan today too - a&e last week concerned about my high hcg levels and wanted to check for multiples - can confirm there is only 1 in there with a good heartbeat! ❤️

DevonMum2Be · 02/12/2023 09:09

Had a light-headed/sparkly vision episode this morning, and found some bleeding following that. I’m 11 weeks today. The bleeding was very much more brown discharge than blood, but a small amount of red blood and the brown was quite dark, if that makes sense. Like the end of a period, really. I’ve phoned 111 and I’m just waiting for OOO to call me back.

has anyone has similiar and it been fine?

DevonMum2Be · 02/12/2023 10:31

had a call back from the maternity person/dept and she was absolutely lovely. Sending me to get my blood pressure checked but otherwise she’s not worried and was really reassuring.

💐 to everyone, this is a rollercoaster isn’t it 🙂

Marshmallowtoastie · 02/12/2023 12:23

Can i ask, for those who had the 12 week scan already, what happened?
I had a scan early on and they showed me the screen for less than 5 seconds and said ‘everything’s fine’ and that’s it. Which is fine because there wasn’t much to see.
but will I get to see it more this time? Might they be able to see the sex? Do you have to wait for the blood results or can you get them that day? And did they offer you scan pics? Ours says we can buy some pics but is it just one pic, or can you get different ones like different angles?

Dani46 · 02/12/2023 12:41

@Marshmallowtoastie when I had mine last week the woman was lovely. She did show me the screen while scanning, but then when needed she turned it to her while doing measurements. I was in there for about 20 mins I think in total.
I didn’t ask about the sex, but I have gender scan booked in for the 11th December. She just told me everything looked good. I did tell her I wanted pictures as I think you have to let them know. It was £5 per picture for me. You could possibly ask for different pics, not the same one if you get more than 1. I just got the same pic 3 times (for family too) she picked the best one for me.
I got my blood results from my booking appointment too, but I did have more bloods done for the tests to check other things which I should hear back from before my next appointment.
hope this helps
