Hi! Just had a BFP after a MC at 8 weeks last year, and am looking for folks to breathe through the next few weeks with. I am in an age bracket where MC risk is high and I’m trying not to get ahead of myself!

I’ve got my date for my 12 week scan which will be when I’m 12+1. That was arranged at the hospital when I had my 8 week scan.
I haven’t got the date for my booking in appt yet though but I got an email saying they’d be in touch. I’m under a caseload team which is great - I’ll have all my midwife appointments at home and then the same midwife hopefully will come to the hospital when I give birth.

Marshmallowtoastie · 19/11/2023 19:44

I had the booking apt last week, they said I’d just get a letter at some point before 14 weeks. Definitely hoping it’s not that late though!

Suchardchoccy · 20/11/2023 10:20

I had my second scan at EPU this morning. Measuring 9+1 weeks. I'm having my blood test tomorrow so hopefully can find out the sex this week

Hi ladies. My reflux (usually well managed by diet) became really uncomfortable over the weekend so I got otc low dose omeprazole for it yesterday and oh my gosh. No more bloating, almost no burping, no feeling of a stick down my throat, etc. Even nausea is so much more bearable. I feel like my old self is back. I think I can eat bigger portions and more varied meals. I did some research and it looks like it’s a safe thing to take even in the 1st trimester. I hope this helps someone else 😘

cosymama2020 · 20/11/2023 14:51

12 week scan done - due date 1st June but they think I’ll need to deliver early! Hope everyone is feeling okay!

Has anyone had lower back pain? I’m 10w5d now and I’ve had it since Saturday.

MsNeis · 21/11/2023 09:57

@Dani46 Hi, I've had lower back pain, yes. Like all my symptoms, it comes and goes... I believe it must be because our bodies are readjusting?

And as far as symptoms goes, I've been experiencing some really strong fatigue the last couple of days, after weeks being fine. It always strikes me at around 6 or 7 pm: it's like my whole body shuts down, and even my mood is awful. It's very extreme, I feel, so I'm a bit worried. With my first pregnancy, I had severe fatigue all along the 1st trimester, but it was something quite constant and predictable. This time around, it's different: I'll be doing things and playing with my toddler, going on with my normal day, and then, suddenly, my body stops and becomes so tired and at the same time my mind is completely fogged.

Is anyone experiencing this? Should I be worried? Maybe I sound melodramatic, but it really has been like this for the past three or four days 😓

I'm 11 weeks and 3 days today. My 1rst trimester scan will be next Thursday, and I can't wait!

DevonMum2Be · 21/11/2023 10:15

Hi @MsNeis that sounds challenging for you. I’m 9+3 and I’ve found that my fatigue has reduced since I started taking iron supplements (with combined B12 and Vit C, alongside the folic acid and Vit D I was already taking). Maybe that would help?

A couple of weeks ago, I was struggling to get through the day without a nap at lunchime 😳 luckily I WFH so can use my lunch break that way!

My boobs feel less enormous and sore and I feel less nauseous than I did a few days ago too. Although I’m still finding it hard not to retch sometimes when doing gross jobs like taking the food waste out or picking up after DDog 🤢 but there was a point when I couldn’t go for my usual dog run without feeling sick because even the mud was setting me off 😄 so I’m glad it’s improved from there. Weirdly I’ve often felt sicker later in the day than the morning, especially if I let myself get too hungry. I’m wondering if reduced nausea could mean the placenta could be taking over already, or is 9+3 too early?

Also, has anyone else had the dreaded ‘fanny daggers’? Delightful nickname, but I was glad to have read about it on Mumsnet previously because I knew exactly what to google when it happened at the weekend 😄 Apparently it’s harmless (touch wood), just uncomfortable!

Sending good wishes to you all x

DanisEndo · 21/11/2023 10:19

New symptom unlocked - I can’t stop burping! Anyone else?! Any tips to stop it?! It’s really adding to the nausea 😩

GeeinItLaldyX · 21/11/2023 11:24

@DevonMum2Be I am 9+5 and have found my nausea has improved a lot over the last few days as well! Also still certain things that arent sitting well but I was feeling sick at everything and anything I ate before. Also wondering if it is the placenta kicking in!

@DevonMum2Be and @GeeinItLaldyX I'm very jealous 😂 9+3 and my sickness and nausea has worsened so I'm sending DH off down the doctors later to collect antisickness medication 😂

MsNeis · 21/11/2023 14:46

@DevonMum2Be Thank you for your suggestion 🙏And I think you might be right!

Anotheranxiousone · 21/11/2023 16:32

@Marshmallowtoastie i had my booking appointment Saturday just gone at 11 weeks on dot and got scan appointment through post this morning for next Tuesday when I’ll be 12+3 although I’m trying to change the day/time as I don’t think I’ll be here!

Catson · 21/11/2023 19:20

I haven't heard from my midwife yet for my booking appt and the scan appointments are made then, so not had that either.. I'm nearly 9 weeks so had hoped I'd have at least got an appt date. Anyone else the same?

Sd183 · 21/11/2023 21:39

Oh my god @Dani46 my lower back is in agony! I actually came to ask about it but I saw your post. I’m only 9+3 I can’t believe it could be pregnancy related but I’m started to think everything weird at the moment is probably related in some way!

@DevonMum2Be what are fanny daggers?!

Marshmallowtoastie · 21/11/2023 21:54

@Catson not sure how you referred but I was told to chase if I hadn’t heard by week 8 for the booking apt. I’ve been told to chase the scan if I’ve not heard about that by week 12. I’m also nervous it’s going to be when I can’t really get out of work! (I know they have to let me, but I’ve not actually told them yet and there’s a few times in the week when it’ll be an absolute nightmare for them and me)

I’ve had some back ache but mostly I’m just congested and sick and burping constantly. Disgusting.
@Hotmalibu94 also 9 weeks and glad I’m not the only one who’s gotten more sick this week!!

Hotmalibu94 · 21/11/2023 22:03

@Marshmallowtoastie solidarity! 💪 It's pretty awful. I've had my antisickness tablet this evening and I'm already feeling like a new woman! Really hoping it does the job until it wears off now 😅
Also my back doesn't ache constantly @Dani46 but it's much more prone to pain if I'm too active at work !

DevonMum2Be · 21/11/2023 22:06

They’re (in my experience) a really delightful sharp, pointy pain that feels like something stabbing upwards inside you 😟 I had them very briefly on Saturday and was trying not to freak out! When I googled, I used the MN phrase above in my search, thinking that must’ve been what I’d read about on here ages ago, and it sounds like it is, in which case they’re harmless but a bit uncomfortable. It sounds like they’re not completely unusual around 9 weeks or so.

I’ve also come across the phrase ‘javelin arse’ on here, but I’m yet to experience that first hand 😄🫣

Dani46 · 21/11/2023 22:51

Thankfully it’s not as bad anymore! Glad I’m not the only one too. Scan this morning went well and I have my dating scan next week 🥰
super bloated all the time though now too

Catson · 21/11/2023 23:09

@Marshmallowtoastie we do an online form. I chased as the email confirmation said to when I was 8 weeks and got told a midwife would be in touch, but nothing yet. Tonight I've seen a comment on a FB post that they're so behind they're doing the booking appointments at 11 weeks so not sure if that's right, but if it is who knows when I might get a scan. Was really wanting one before Christmas 🙈

VJFord · 22/11/2023 07:47

@Catson I would keep chasing! I've got my booking appointment next week (I'll be 9+4) and scan is booked already for 12+1 but my pregnancy is high risk so they're pretty on the ball with everything for me, which might be why I've got it all booked in already.

Catson · 22/11/2023 08:43

I have a few things which I think will make me high risk this time too @VJFord

Suchardchoccy · 22/11/2023 08:51

@Catson I had my booking appointment at about 6 weeks and I have my scan booked for when I'll be 12 weeks.

I told my manager the day I came back from maternity leave haha! I wanted them to know so I could be honest about appointments.

Suchardchoccy · 22/11/2023 08:53

@Catson ps I'm low risk so I would definitely keep chasing that. I suppose different trusts work differently. I hope you get it all booked in soon, I'm an impatient person so I would be ringing everyday
