@Cheetocat Poppy - that's so cute! Ours is nicknamed Lentil for a similar reason 😆

Team girl over here too. We had a private scan at 17 weeks just for reassurance but they offered to tell us the gender too. Not telling anyone irl the gender until after 20 week scan (next week) though.

I'm 18+2 and think I might finally be getting a bump? I've got a tummy already and I don't think it's got any bigger but it feels sort of more solid? I'm told it will suddenly pop out, so maybe that's about to happen soon!

Cheetocat · 06/09/2023 11:36

A few days ago my belly popped out in the middle of the day, I was so surprised, my partner was amazed when he got home from work. I feel like I'm waddling now rather than walking. I love it!

TW MENTIONS PREVIOUS LOSS

Hi ladies I’m not doing well today I’ve woken up really tearful and irritable and with a massive headache. I’m 18+3 now, I lost my daughter last year at 23+5. I don’t know whether the closer and closer it’s getting to that time period the more mentally well I’m becoming :/ I saw a perinatal psychologist 2 weeks ago and still heard nothing back. I’m at a loss really because I just feel really unwell and I just feel as tho I’ve been left to just deal with it all on my own 😓 I keep having nightmares and bad dreams too that my babies died. My next scan is the 20th September but the 20 week scan I’ve never felt time move slower than it has with this pregnancy

Shrillwaffle · 06/09/2023 12:30

Furthermore from my last post I called to chase perinatal off my notes are apparently ‘vague’ and they asked if I’ve had my baby yet 🤦🏻‍♀️ someone’s calling me back but this is the type of fuckery I feel like I’ve had to deal with my whole life

AbsolutePlonker · 06/09/2023 15:02

@Shrillwaffle I'm so sorry to hear this. My friend had a loss at 25 weeks last year. She has just had a healthy baby boy but she's still reeling from her loss. She was very depressed while pregnant and didn't feel like it was really going to happen until her son was in her arms.
There is a charity called PANDAS who helped her with her mental health and then the hospital/trust has its own baby loss charity who were able to support her. She actually still pays for private therapy as she felt she needed it.
Please be kind to yourself, reach out for help. She didn't talk to her friends much during her pregnancy but we were desperate to support her - she is only talking a bit more about it now.

Shrillwaffle · 06/09/2023 15:09

@AbsolutePlonker that’s exactly how I feel! I’m definitely not enjoying this pregnancy like I did with my first and I do feel quite depressed I kind of just feel I’m waiting for something bad to happen 😢 I got a call back and they’ve appointed me a person who is going to work on anxiety management with me which is what I need a think. I have other mental health problems too so it’s just a whole thing. I love my baby and I’m excited but I’m full
of trepidation and fear

Golaz · 06/09/2023 18:28

Sending you so much love @Shrillwaffle . I’m so sorry to hear you are struggling and I can only imagine the psychological stress you are under. it’s absolutely unacceptable you are receiving such poor support 😢. Just remember that each moment that passes is another hurdle that you have crossed, and eventually you will come through the other side of this xxx ❤️

FrostedFlake · 06/09/2023 19:51

This is a really silly question but how many months is 16 weeks. Some websites say 3 others 4 then 18 weeks seems to be 5 🫣😅are weeks 0-4 counted as month one?

Mummapenguin20 · 06/09/2023 20:22

If we counted in 4 week intervals we would be pregnant 10 months. I just count weeks as it gets confusing lol @FrostedFlake

@Golaz thankyou ❤️ I’m hoping when I get passed that 23+5 mark I’ll feel a little less anxious but we’ll see. I just thought I’d get support this time from day one :/

Hankthehonk · 07/09/2023 12:57

Oops only just found this thread! Will try to catch up, exciting to see lots of you finding out the sex of your babies, we will hopefully find out at scan on Monday (private one at 16w3d)

@Tilly18101 thank you for the pillow recommendation, that one looks great!

AmyA64 · 07/09/2023 15:03

Thought the old thread was quiet! Glad I’ve found you all! Congratulations to everyone who has found out the sex of their little ones. We’ve agreed not to find out, so are in the surprise club!

Proudgypsy · 07/09/2023 20:28

Evening everyone, I'm really struggling with severe back pain every night. It starts around 7pm and I can just about fall asleep with a hot water bottle (not what you want in this heat). Is this normal or should I speak to my midwife about it?

Otherwise does anyone have any suggestions?

Mummapenguin20 · 07/09/2023 20:38

I’d ask to have your water checked @Proudgypsy you could have a uti

@Proudgypsy yeah if it's severe I'd get it checked, just for peace of mind

Is anyone else still holding out on telling work about their pregnancy?? I’m keen to try and hold out until the 20wk scan but even then I’m still nervous about telling my boss. He doesn’t have family and I think has no clue that this could be on the radar! I joined the business in January so feel a bit guilty about already going off on maternity but I will have been there a year at the point I take it (all being well). Any advice on how I go about breaking the news would be helpful and what sort of reaction others have been met with would be interesting to hear. Thx

Proudgypsy · 08/09/2023 10:00

Thanks @Mummapenguin20 and @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'll give them a call x

I only started my job end of feb this year 😄 I can't wait to start maternity leave. I work in retail so after a chaotic Christmas time it's gonna be most welcome 🙂

Just rip the plaster off and tell him. Gives him time to find someone to replace you whilst you're on leave. You'll be ok. X

Sunshineclouds11 · 08/09/2023 10:47

Anyone who's feeling movements, are yours consistent or is it too early for regular movements?

17 weeks, second baby.
I didn't feel my first until well into 20 weeks so he was obv bigger and stronger then so felt more often.

mumtotwox · 08/09/2023 11:07

@Sunshineclouds11 I'm almost 17 weeks with an anterior placenta and still nothing. I had a posterior placenta with both boys so this is very new for me! Trying not to compare 🙈

Sunshineclouds11 · 08/09/2023 11:16

@mumtotwox I had anterior with my first actually!
23 weeks when I first felt him

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/09/2023 11:42

@mumtotwox anterior placenta here also. I'm not sure if I'm feeling baby movements or not, feels almost like a fish swimming / swirling. Could also be digestive! V different to my posterior placenta last time

Clueless13 · 08/09/2023 12:52

Hi everyone! :) so lovely to read all the comments about your gender reveals and those who want to keep it a surprise! I’m 17 weeks today, booked a private scan to find out the gender on Sunday, going to ask them to write it down so my husband and I can open it privately just the two of us❤️ secretly praying for a girl, but happy for a healthy baby either gender!

I’ve had a lot of anxiety around my pregnancy as it’s an IVF pregnancy, so haven’t told family or friends yet, just about managed to tell seniors at work this week and that was a huge thing for me!

Has anyone felt their baby move yet? I was feeling bubbles earlier this week, but seemed to have stopped now - not sure if this is normal? xx

FTMCHD · 08/09/2023 13:23

So lovely that people are starting to feel movements. Twin 1 has an anterior placenta and twin 2 has a posterior placenta and I think I’m starting to feel movements, twin 2 is higher and I’m feeling bubbling sensations at the top of my stomach.
