@DesertSnow I got the angel care baby monitor with the breathing sensor pad , my anxiety relief is down to this - knowing I can switch off when she's asleep on it . I highly recommend it . Congratulations on your new baby x

I have the snuza hero clip on sensor and it really did help me a lot last time. When they’re so tiny it is just terrifying when you don’t know if they’re still breathing.. a lot of people argue you don’t need these things but I think if its going to be one small thing to make you feel even a fraction better in that scary period then its worth using

chickpea1982 · 17/08/2023 07:47

@DesertSnow You poor thing, that sounds awful. Try not to get too upset about not being able to breastfeed exclusively though - you've got enough anxiety as it is to deal with. I had similar feelings with my first, who just wouldn't latch, so the only way he was going to get fed initially was formula. My mum was a breastfeeding counsellor, and so I was brought up to believe (somewhat militantly!) that breastfeeding was the only option. It was incredibly distressing to find that I couldn't feed him myself - I was just a ball of panic and nerves for the first few weeks. I was advised to pump regularly to keep up my supply, and keep trying. It took some time, but eventually we did get to a point where DC1 was exclusively breastfed. Having achieved that I then got over my tunnel vision about breastfeeding and started introducing one formula feed a day to give myself a break. There's nothing wrong with formula after all, it's not going to hurt her in any way. Try to go easy on yourself. Hope you manage to get some sleep and start feeling better soon. x

Riley James Boland born at 4:31pm (elective c-section), weighing 7ibs 9oz which is exactly what our growth scans had predicted down the oz.

All went well, we had a really positive c-section experience, our surgeon and midwife both amazing and made the whole procedure really enjoyable x

Omg @MinnieFirstTimeMum congratulations so cute 🥰 xx

BCxx · 18/08/2023 04:27

@MinnieFirstTimeMum congratulations, he’s gorgeous 💙 glad it all went so straightforward!

Baby girl arrived this morning at 11:37am, all went really well! 😊 Just struggling to get any sleep now and every other mum/baby on my ward seem to have been asleep since about 10pm, while I’m still lying wide awake! Baby is finally settled I think but of course I’m lying on my phone instead of trying to sleep

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 18/08/2023 04:38

Congratulations @BCxx 💕 I have been waiting for your update.

Also struggling with the sleep and other babies on the ward. Keep telling myself I will make up for it tomorrow 😬

airmaxJ · 18/08/2023 04:52

@BCxx congratulations too x

HRSC · 18/08/2023 04:56

Congratulations @MinnieFirstTimeMum and @BCxx !! Hope you are both doing well and can go hone soon! And hopefully get some sleep!🩷

I’m sorry to hear you are finding things tough, @DesertSnow - is there someone you can talk to about this? Hope you can get some support. My cousin used the owlet sock for her baby last year and said it gave her such peace of mind. Would something like that be helpful? Wishing you the best

Had another ctg on Wednesday (at 38+4) and the nurses got v excited as it showed me having lots of contractions, however when I saw my doctor afterwards my cervix was definitely very much closed 😩but woken up with some cramping period pain that definitely feel different and more painful than the near constant braxton hicks I’ve been having. Pain feels very low down in my groin area and although mild, feels more wave like .. I’ve been timing them but quite irregular. Could this be the start of them?

I also had a complete panic yesterday evening as couldn’t get baby to move for about an hour, and then my husband came home and managed to get her moving in about 5/10 mins !

BCxx · 18/08/2023 05:24

Thank you @HRSC @airmaxJ

@MinnieFirstTimeMum me too, hoping I can get home and husband can take over for a few hours in the afternoon so I can try to reset myself before tomorrow night! Almost ruled out the possibility of sleeping now and the girl beside me has a huge light on that’s making the full ward so bright 😔

sommeliermama · 18/08/2023 15:42

Many congrats @BCxx and @MinnieFirstTimeMum such exciting news! Hope you both enjoy those first few days ❤❤

I had my 40 week appointment today and midwife said baby's head isn't feeling fully engaged, so also said she won't be doing a sweep until the 41 week appointment if I get there. I was kinda hoping to get things moving today/this weekend but I guess it's better to wait until baby is ready!

LS888 · 18/08/2023 15:57

Congratulations @BCxx and @MinnieFirstTimeMum lovely to hear your news 💙🩷 xx

DomesticElf · 18/08/2023 16:41

@BCxx and @MinnieFirstTimeMum congratulations on your beautiful babies! Wishing you a speedy recovery and some sleep in the near future ❤️❤️

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 18/08/2023 18:40

Thank you everybody, we are back home now and looking forward to a much quieter night tonight 💙

Daisy155 · 18/08/2023 21:56

@MinnieFirstTimeMum aww congratulation baby Riley is so adorable!! Glad to hear of your positive C- section experience as well, I hope you get plenty of rest :) xxx

Paintandpots · 19/08/2023 04:37

Congratulations @BCxx and @MinnieFirstTimeMum . Enjoy this newborn cuddles and get some rest when you can.

HRSC · 19/08/2023 08:33

Is there anyone else who is still waiting for their baby to arrive? Feel like I’ve been pregnant foreverr 😩

jollydollyirl · 19/08/2023 08:34

HRSC · 19/08/2023 08:33

Is there anyone else who is still waiting for their baby to arrive? Feel like I’ve been pregnant foreverr 😩

Yes! 40 +2 here!

Daisy155 · 19/08/2023 09:57

@HRSC I am right here! Waiting only a few days left for me, then a C section!

I am currently in the hospital makes the wait feel even longer because every night so many women are coming in and giving birth that same day!

Rowanandremy · 19/08/2023 11:57

@MinnieFirstTimeMum congratulations on your beautiful boy, so pleased you had a good experience. Hope you had a good first night home and that your recovery is a smooth one.

@BCxx congratulations! Hope you’ve been allowed home and managed to get some decent sleep. Hope your recovery is a smooth one

Recoba · 19/08/2023 12:39

@BCxx and @MinnieFirstTimeMum many congratulations on the births of your babies - hope you're able to rest and recuperate.

@HRSC still here, still waiting! 40+3 here, and wondering whether to have a sweep at my next midwife appointment on Wednesday (when I'll be 41 weeks). Provisionally thinking I might go for an induction when I'm 41+5, which would be w/c 28th August, but very unsure about that. Have you or @jollydollyirl had thoughts about sweeps and induction?

Spiralout · 19/08/2023 12:41

Congratulations to all the new babies! So exciting to see 😚

sommeliermama · 19/08/2023 12:59

@HRSC yes 40+1, no signs of anything happening yet!

jollydollyirl · 19/08/2023 13:21

@Recoba had a sweep at 39+6 which doesn't seem to have done anything! Booked in for induction on Friday if nothing has changed by then

HRSC · 19/08/2023 13:56

So nice to hear from you @sommeliermama @jollydollyirl @Recoba @Daisy155 ! although you are all further along than me. I’m so impatient and in life am a planner so not knowing is driving me crazy!! I have been put down for an induction next Saturday, but I don’t think sweeps are offered where I live (Portugal). Have been having irregular contractions, although nothing since yesterday evening 🤷‍♀️ trying to relax but feeling v anxious today

HRSC · 19/08/2023 14:00

Went for a wax this morning and I can’t say I’d recommend it! Extremely uncomfortable and the poor lady had such a hard time getting around my enormous belly! Not sure I’d do it again next time 😅
