obviously that was just my experience but the whole contractions that stop which they consider 'fake as they aren't increasing and leading to labour ,are the most frustrating!! @DesertSnow how are you??

BCxx · 09/08/2023 14:20

Patiently waiting to hear from @DesertSnow too, hope everything went okay and baby has arrived safely 🤍

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 09/08/2023 15:13

Any c-section mums who are already or are planning on using any belly bands to aid recovery?

If so any brand recommendations?

BoodifulGoose · 09/08/2023 16:39

Hi all, I can't catch up as there's over 300 messages 😂
Congrats to everyone who's had their babies!! 💙

My beautiful little lady was born on 30/07 after a bit of a traumatic labour/birth 😅 72 hours awake and 54 hours of labour but she's here and she's precious 🥰 been a hell of an adjustment but enjoying being her mum 💙 my partner is incredible also! Hope everything is well with everyone 💙

Pic of her furry brother the closest he's been to her on day 7, went well until she farted 😂

Congratulations @BoodifulGoose 💕

sommeliermama · 09/08/2023 16:55

@BoodifulGoose congrats! Love her cute little legs and feet. Glad to hear you're enjoying being a mum and hope you're recovering ok

sommeliermama · 09/08/2023 16:57

@BCxx thanks 😊I keep reminding myself that every half syringe is worth so much. It's taken me 8 days to get 6ml total but I'm proud of my little collection in the freezer

Rowanandremy · 09/08/2023 17:01

@BoodifulGoose congratulations! That is a lovely picture, there’s something so cute about baby feet. I had to laugh at her farting scaring him off, our cat wouldn’t go near ds for ages and every time she did he’d suddenly wake up or twitch and it’d send her running again but she’s come round and will deign to be in the same room as him now 😂

Rowanandremy · 09/08/2023 17:28

@Paintandpots congratulations! Glad things are going well, I haven’t breast fed either of mine so can’t offer any practical advice but hopefully the hospital will/has put you in contact with a breast feeding consultant. Hope you are doing ok and are enjoying the newborn snuggles

@BCxx @HRSC I had on and off cramping for 2 weeks with dd before my waters went and things happened quickly after that. With ds I had cramping for around 3 days before some of my waters went. Both times they were like little bursts of cramping that wouldn’t last long at all and then they’d disappear sometimes for hours or until the next day. You’ll know that you are in active labour when the cramps become something that takes up all of your thought process, the intensity amps up and even with a high pain tolerance you’ll know it’s no longer at period pain levels. I got very restless with ds, I was pacing and couldn’t get comfortable at all and I was in a lot of discomfort with my back, with dd the only thing I had was I couldn’t get comfortable.

BCxx · 09/08/2023 20:46

@BoodifulGoose congratulations! Nice to see you back 😊 hope you’re recovering well

BCxx · 09/08/2023 20:51

@sommeliermama 6ml really is amazing though and think how good you’ll feel walking in with it 😅 I would have been so delighted with 6 the last time when I was only able to get 0.1 or 0.2!

DomesticElf · 09/08/2023 22:52

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I tried to use one with my first, and didnt like it as I found it irritated the scar/incision. Maybe it was just the one I used..
This time around I didn't use any and recovering just fine. I find the most helpful is to keep on top of your pain meds, having huge pants that have a waistline way above your incision, and not overdoing it. Also highly recommend pressing a pillow into your lower tummy when laughing, coughing or sneezing in the few days post section. Really helps.
I went for a walk with DS2 in a sling yesterday (day 5 post section...) and it wasn't the smartest thing I did. Dont be me 🙈

HRSC · 09/08/2023 22:52

Thanks @Rowanandremy @BMK they subsided but then the afternoon had braxton hicks and back pain which was a fun way to spend the rest of the day😂

What support from family/friends does anyone have? My parents are off on a Safari holiday tomorrow for 3 weeks - literally right over the time when their granddaughter could be born! And my mother in law is due to have knee surgery at the end of august, she lives in a different country so won’t be coming over for a good few weeks post baby’s birth. So we’re a little thin on the ground for parental support …

BCxx · 09/08/2023 22:57

@MinnieFirstTimeMum it seems everyone in America uses one after a section but here they aren’t mentioned so much. I was fine without one last time but you do just feel like you need a bit of extra padding across the scar at times as it’s so sensitive. I was fine the first week when I had my dressing still on, then I had to peel it off and felt like I’d went 5 steps back and suddenly it felt so raw again but it only lasted a few days until the air got to it.

Put a pillow in the car if you haven’t already and have that under your belt on the way home. I’d seen it mentioned on a YouTube video and it did just help me feel a bit less pathetic on the way home!

Trigger warning...

I'm afraid I have some very sad news. We lost our baby girl Kira on Monday at 38 weeks and 5 days. 😭💔 we are heartbroken, confused and overwhelmed and I will be going into hospital tomorrow morning to be induced and give birth. We have no idea why this has happened it doesn't seem real right now.. I'm sorry to share something like this with you but I just wanted to let you all know as an August mum and member of the August facebook group and on this thread. ❤️

BCxx · 09/08/2023 23:03

Colostrum diaries day 5 or something.. 😅 One of the most heartbreaking moments ever tonight.. was collecting it in the bath and I’d started using the little sterile cups the midwife gave me (which was way easier) then just syringing the colostrum up after so long. It was going so well and I was on my third syringe when I pulled the end of it back too far and all the colostrum escaped out the bottom of it and fell in the bath 😳😩 could have cried! I then furiously expressed an extra one to make up for it. I was there for well over an hour but have ended up with 3!

The cups were way easier to get it out quicker. It felt as if before I’d get the technique right to get one drop out then have to take my hand away to use two hands to get the syringe before it ran down me. This time I could find a bit that was working and manage to let all the drops just run into the tub. I think that will be way easier in hospital too and make me feel a bit less silly when I’m just doing it into a cup and not stop start every 2 seconds to syringe up a single drop!

BCxx · 09/08/2023 23:04

@cococat88 oh my goodness that is utterly devastating. Cannot imagine how you must be feeling right now 😞💔 sending you a huge hug and hope you can get through this awful time

BMK · 10/08/2023 00:34

@cococat88 no no no.. How is that possible?????? Oh I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart to hear that. How can this happen?? Oh my goodness you have go be joking re giving birth...please not on top of everything .. cococat I cannot say anything which relays how I feel for you and how I wish this wasn't true. Your baby is an Angel who had other work to do and was here with you for some purpose that only you will be able to understand. Not that any of this will actually console you much presently You must be a very strong person as only the strong get visited with these events usually

DomesticElf · 10/08/2023 01:39

@cococat88 please accept my sincere deep heartfelt condolences. Devastating news. Sending you strength in this trialling time 💐

Marmaladebear · 10/08/2023 07:19

@cococat88 I'm absolutely devastated for you. I'm so so sorry for your loss. Nothing I can say will make things better but I hope you are getting all the help and support you need to get through this difficult time xx

Recoba · 10/08/2023 07:25

@cococat88 I'm so sorry for the loss of your little girl. You must be devastated, I hope the hospital can give you some answers.

HRSC · 10/08/2023 07:35

@cococat88 I am so sorry, I can’t imagine the heartbreak you are feeling. I hope you can get the answers you might need. Sending love and strength 🧡

AnnieApple123 · 10/08/2023 07:42

Oh @cococat88 I am just devastated for you. You being at term makes it seem so much worse. I imagine you are in deep shock right now.

I too was induced after my baby’s heart stopped. I am here if you need anything and will PM my number in a minute. My Hypnobirthing teacher told me about an app called Ellie’s Gift which has specific tracks on it suitable for a labour like this. Please know going forward that - although it’s the club nobody would ever want to join - the baby loss community is amazing and there is lots of support available. Bereavement midwives tend to be fantastic too. There’s also SANDS who have a free helpline. They are there if you need to talk to anyone today about decisions on whether you want to see and hold your baby. I have called them a few times now. I love the name Kira by the way. Sending lots of love. xxx
