Is anyone else experiencing semi-painful braxton hicks? It's happened to me twice now and I'm only 20 plus 1.

Both time happened after DTD and only lasted about 5/10 minutes. Not sure if I need to be worried as its so early.

Not Braxton. But 21 weeks and I keep getting this weird sharp feeling in the middle of my abdomen. Not sure if it is bub moving, or round ligament pain.

Good luck for those with interviews! Would have a look at getting clothing in a bigger size or loose-fitting - think 'maternity' wear can have a price tag attached. So far I've got a pair of maternity jeans and a dress for all the spring/summer weddings.

Good luck with the scan @P1pk!

Bit jealous of those of you planning holidays! DH is about to go to Brazil for a month (seeing family) so he won't have much leave to take unfortunately once baby is here. Hopefully we'll get away next spring as a family of three, and maybe take our postponed honeymoon, but that feels like a very long time away!

Yup. I'm sizing up or going for stretchy/ baggy items.

I already have an obvious bump. But I'm short, especially in the torso. And this will be kid 2.

CityKity · 07/04/2023 20:53

@DesertSnow if you like the name I wouldn’t worry too much about popularity, I’ve found names SO difficult as no name is really that unique.
I have an unusual name so am going for the more wacky end of the spectrum but DH is a bit more trad, so finding a compromise is proving tricky. Our first choice boys name is really marmite, so god knows if we’ll actually have the guts to go for it.

After a 2 week break of work trips etc finally tried a run, and it was surprisingly okay! Went super slow and steady, but was nice to squeeze in a sunny run finally. It won’t be long till I stop so making the most while I can.

Slightly struggling mentally with getting a bump if I’m being honest. I’ve finally bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans which are a godsend as I’m pretty sure squeezing into my old jeans wasn’t doing my mind any good. I think because I’m usually a very private person, and I’m starting to show I feel like everyone knows I’m pregnant now which I don’t love. In addition I’ve got several close friends in the process of going through infertility/ivf/breakups etc so I’ve been trying to hide bump as much as possible and ignore talking about baby. They are very open with me about their feeling and I’m doing my best to support them, but it feels strange hiding/ignoring my own pregnancy.

Marmaladebear · 07/04/2023 20:59

@Createcomet yes same here I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and still a bit nauseous in the evenings and threw up last night (a lot) after brushing my teeth 😭 hope you feel better soon!! Xx

We decided to potty train our two year old this bank holiday... Really wanted to do it before baby is born in the summer and I think our toddler is ready. Absolutely exhausted from day 1 though 🫠

Marmaladebear · 07/04/2023 21:16

@CityKity sorry you're having such a hard time. I hope you get to be able to talk about your pregnancy/get any support you need.

overwork · 07/04/2023 21:27

Many thanks @Spiralout!

Rowanandremy · 07/04/2023 21:29

@DesertSnow popularity wouldn’t put me off but has put dw off names we’ve liked. We also have a surname that could be a first name so we’ve been a bit picky on how a name sounds rolling off the tongue.

@CityKity I said to my wife not even half an hour ago how I’m struggling with having a bump this time round. With dd we didn’t really see people and that was before covid, we just didn’t see many people but this time we are seeing multiple family members several times or more a week and I’m really self conscious. I don’t think it’s helped me at all that I am 2 stone heavier than I’d like and my bump seems a lot bigger this time around, Mentally it’s a bit of a grapple at times.

jollydollyirl · 07/04/2023 21:41

@CityKity I could've written this myself! I'm finding it hard that NOTHING fits anymore and I'm sick of leggings and jumpers at this stage. Like you, I'm a private person and I don't like the idea of people discussing me or my pregnancy.

On another note, has anyone tried any half decent non-alcoholic wines? Would love a glass over the bank holiday weekend but any that I've tried are rubbish. Would love one that tastes relatively like the real thing?

Spiralout · 07/04/2023 21:47

@jollydollyirl I've been enjoying the wines from Noughty - tried their sparking Chardonnay and Syrah. Both are quite palatable. Not the real thing but better than most I’ve tried. The Pale Fox dealcoholised sparkling wine is also quite good.

BCxx · 07/04/2023 22:18

@Createcomet wow that sounds hard going! No I’m the same, gagged this morning when I got up because I’d been awake and hadn’t instantly gone for breakfast 🙄 by this stage last time it was long gone

BCxx · 07/04/2023 22:23

@CityKity I was the same with a friend last time and basically pretended I’d forgot I was pregnant. I didn’t post pictures on social media or draw any attention to it as I really just didn’t know how she’d feel about the whole thing. I’m the same with being so private too.. I’m not overly fussed if randoms in the street can see that I’m pregnant but I feel a bit weirded out when my in-laws stare and comment on my belly, refer to me as a ‘mummy to be’ etc 🙈 I find myself putting on an oversized jumper every time before they come just because I can’t bare them staring at me or making all the comments

BCxx · 07/04/2023 22:25

@DesertSnow I would just go for your favourite name and ignore how popular it is. I was nearly put off by the popularity of the name we went for last time as it had been the name we’d had in mind for years but didn’t realise it had shot up in popularity right at the time we went to have a baby 🙄 I’ve been to one baby class where there were two of them and it did slightly bug me but I’m just hoping there isn’t another in the same class at school at least!

DesertSnow · 08/04/2023 08:28

Thanks all for naming advice! Going to have a ponder. We have an unusual surname (Brazilian) so a more common surname feels like less of an issue in that respect. And as DH is Brazilian, it's a name that works in both languages which we also have to factor in.

Thread is nearly full! I'll make the new one this morning, just need to get up my list and I'll get tagging.
