@AnnieApple123 sorry you haven't got any answers yet. Keeping you in my thoughts and hope you get some reassurance soon.

Rowanandremy · 30/03/2023 20:17

@AnnieApple123 I can only echo what has been said by everyone else and hope that you get answers and reassurance really soon.

@Shinea Some babies do a quick movement and then nothing for a while or even weeks after, that’s what my midwife said anyway. If you are worried though is it something you could mention to your midwife?

Quite an exciting day today in that we got the pram delivered, built it up and had a bit of a play with it. Had to fend off dd and the cat, not sure who was more offended! 😂 dd did play with it a bit with her dolls after and was very sweet. It feels nice to have bought something substantial for him, it makes it feel that bit more real.

Has anyone else, craft inclined, started to make something for their baby? I’ve started a crochet blanket a few days ago, again helping to make it all feel real.

BCxx · 30/03/2023 20:43

I was definitely feeling movements from 18 weeks, maybe even before but now im
almost 20 and really don’t feel much at all. I think there are tiny movements but I can go pretty much the whole day and not have felt anything 🤔 I think because I was used to the big kicks at the end of my last pregnancy, I’m really expecting them to suddenly be like that again.

It’s really not feeling real at all to me weirdly. I bought an actual girls outfit today for the first time but it just felt a bit odd 🙈 I’m not sure when I’m going to accept that being pregnant means a baby is coming!

P1pk · 30/03/2023 20:51

@AnnieApple123 not been here on a while and having just caught up, I hope you're doing as well as you can at the moment. Really sorry you're going through all this, and hopefully a solution is found soon for you!

For all those talking about movements, I'm 19+5 today. I've felt a lot of movement last 3 days and now realise I felt these more lightly for about 10days! I'm a first time mum which is probably why I didn't realise it was the baby moving before :)

Lovely to know everyone's having their scans. Mine is next week and it couldn't come any sooner!

BusyBushBaby · 30/03/2023 21:00

@AnnieApple123 thinking of you and hope you get some reassuring answers soon x

BMK · 30/03/2023 21:15

I'm 22 weeks tm and I have really noticed the difference in the last 5-6 days: no more ability to conceal the large abdomen as it's now generally protruding in a solid/round/front and side fashion and I feel it heavier and more dense. It reminds me of how the 3rd trimester is but not as impairing, yet! @BCxx it sounds like your job was really the source of great unhappiness and stress for.you. How long did it take for you to realise that it was your job that was doing it? I remember my other half saying to me one day that my job seemed to be the source of all my stress and how could I say I enjoyed it when it impacted me so much: it was like a Eureka moment for me whereby I realised that my job was doing all that to me and that I was so involved in it I thought I loved it but it was moreso that I felt the work was important, but it's effect of me made me realise that I didn't necessarily enjoy it as it was the source of so much stress and pressure, but I only enjoyed the positive results/outcomes. So I changed and did less and it's so so much better. Sometimes you just need.to make a decision and.it totally changes everything!

BCxx · 30/03/2023 21:34

@BMK totally! Life is too short to run yourself into the ground for the sake of a job. To be fair I think I always knew it was my job but it was like I was either there feeling so anxious/panicky or I was at home worrying about work and just going round in circles with it. It affected everything and I wasn’t able to then meet friends or even family and act like everything was great when I felt like I was so on edge 🤦🏼‍♀️ Now I’ve removed that element it’s like I can function normally again!

AnnieApple123 · 31/03/2023 08:04

I’m just on way into London for yet another scan with a professor of fetal medicine. Things have been all over the place this week and plans have kept changing and then changing again…. ‘Have an amnio’/‘Don’t have an amnio as it’s unlikely to show anything and the risks are not worth it’… ‘Have a MRI at 32 weeks’/‘Actually no, have one now’… ‘We’re referring you to St. George’s’/‘We’re referring you to King’s’/‘Actually no, it will be UCLH’… ‘See this professor on Monday’/‘No see a different one on Friday’ (still not sure whether I’m supposed to be seeing both?). My consultant was frantically trying to get a fetal MRI organised for me yesterday but apparently now it may be better to wait and from, what I can gather, the professor today will decide what the best timing is. It’s all been a bit like Chinese whispers with messages coming through from various different secretaries - some of them a lot more helpful than others.

@BMK I tested negative for CMV. Also rubella and toxoplasmosis. So it’s not that. There are a couple of other results still pending but nobody seems to think it’s those either.

@AnnieApple123 sorry to hear you're having such a rough time of it, I really hope the person you see today can provide some answers. Sending all my best wishes 🥰

sally16 · 31/03/2023 09:10

@AnnieApple123 good luck today! I hope you get some better answers!
My care was simelar last time, obviously not as serious!
But I was passed about constantly and told different things at every appointment which really stressed me more than I needed to be!

Be a bit firm if you can and ask all the questions to get the answers you want for the plan that should be there xxx

BCxx · 31/03/2023 10:48

@AnnieApple123 hopefully your scan today is more positive and you at least know what direction you’re going in. I’m sure all of these consultants and top doctors are amazing at what they do but it sounds like there’s just too many different departments involved just now. Hopefully today you get a plan in place 🤞🏼

Marmaladebear · 31/03/2023 11:08

@AnnieApple123 I'm sorry you're being passed around and not given clarity on everything! I hope you get some answers soon, it all sounds so stressful.

@Shinea this is my second baby and I'm not feeling movement (despite feeling something at very early stages). My placenta is anterior though so that's why. If you're worried you should definitely ring up and see if they'll have you for a scan - worth asking I always think!

Had my 20 week scan today at 19+6 and all is good. Was lovely to see baby again although the whole thing was very rushed. I'm not sure if that was my last scan as the sonographer said there might be more because my first baby was born at 37 weeks so we'll see!

COVID is gone but I still feel rubbish so I'm paranoid I have long covid. It's only been a week though so hopefully I'll be fine soon.

P1pk · 31/03/2023 12:16

@AnnieApple123 hope everything goes well today. Thinking of you and sending lots of hugs!!

@Marmaladebear great news on scan and a but rubbish that it felt rushed! I'm 19+6 and still feeling a bit drained for most of the week, so try not to put it down to covid. If you are getting anxious maybe speak to gp? Might helping getting more advice.

Narwhal88 · 31/03/2023 12:27

@AnnieApple123 that sounds so frustrating and anxiety inducing. I hope you get some answers today xx

BMK · 31/03/2023 14:40

@AnnieApple123 I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel. That's good news re those though. I still maintain my good feeling on this. A fetal MRI is to see how the baby internally is looking?? Do you have any idea what kind of thing they think might be wrong ?(*as opposed to what's causing it/might be). Anyway lots of questions when you likely have plenty of your own so don't mind any of this- just thinking out loud; best of luck and hope you get (good) answers today and no more trekking about . ❤

Marmaladebear · 31/03/2023 20:06

@P1pk yes true it might just be down to pregnancy! I'll keep an eye on it and definitely will speak to someone if it carries on much longer!

LS888 · 01/04/2023 08:30

@AnnieApple123 hope you get some clarity soon. How frustrating to be passed around and not really know what’s going on. Hoping you get some answers soon xx

overwork · 01/04/2023 08:44

I finally told my parents last night. On the way home from work I spotted some miniature Toblerone bars with 'Grandma' and 'Grandad' on the box, in the window of a card shop. So I bought them and handed them over as a snack with their cup of tea. When they noticed the wording mum called me a cheeky sod for insinuating that they are old, took them ages to realise what we were telling them. I wish we'd have thought to film it, it was very funny. Lots of happy tears as they thought they'd never be grandparents.

Marmaladebear · 01/04/2023 09:22

That's so sweet @overwork how lovely 💕

AnnieApple123 · 01/04/2023 11:55

Sorry haven’t had a chance to post an update as there have been so many people to keep in the loop. I arrived at my 8:30am appointment yesterday to see the professor from St. George’s, only to discover that the building didn’t open until 9am. It was only then that it dawned on me that he had come in early especially to scan me. As you can imagine, it was quite a scary moment of realisation of just how serious it was felt things could be.

Thankfully though he thinks there’s a very good chance of a good outcome and what he has seen so far is very unlikely to significantly affect the baby, provided it doesn’t get any worse. I’ll continue to have close monitoring and will have the MRI at 26 weeks after which we’ll know more. I’m also going to have something called anti-platelet antibody testing done on Monday morning, although it’s thought to be unlikely this will show up anything. The jury is still out on whether amnio would be useful in this situation as they think a genetic cause is unlikely. I also have a catch-up with the consultant Monday morning to discuss this.

I’m shattered from the events of the week and still processing it all. I’m just so glad this isn’t my first pregnancy and that I have at least had the experience of enjoying a pregnancy without this sort of stress. Thank you to all of you here for your support and I hope this hasn’t caused anyone else to worry unnecessarily. xx

Yaaayyyyyyyu!!!!!(";) Oh my goodness WHAT a relief for you; albeit not perfect and certain ,but as outcomes could be after all the frights, you must be somewhat relieved/heartened? And exhausted!!!! It's uncanny that you had so many instinctual fears about rare Complications and scan avoidance as feared sth would show!!!! Any previous psychic abilities?? This is really great news. I know you're not out of the woods but my good feeling continues!! Do they have any idea what exactly they think isn't right? Is there a lack of fluid or baby growing a lot or..?

BMK · 01/04/2023 12:22

oh and don't worry about replying, you rest and do nothing but mind yourself and recover!**questions are an unthought-out reaction, but they are not requiring answers!!

unluckyinlife · 01/04/2023 22:26

@AnnieApple123 you've been in my mind a lot the last few days. As a fellow anxiety suffer my heart goes out to you. I hope you find some reassurance in the latest findings albeit not being exactly the answers you hoped for. Xx

unluckyinlife · 01/04/2023 22:29

With my previous pregnancies I seemed to have a mad nesting phase around 32 weeks. I'm only 19 weeks and today have not stopped from 8am this morning doing weird odd jobs round the house. My husband just sent me to bed to rest as he drew the line at me scrubbing the kids school coats with a dish sponge at 10pm...

We are so close to exchanging on our new house and the idea of packing any further pregnant terrifies me, so I had planned to do small bits every week but I couldn't seem to sit down today 😅

I already know I'm going to ache tomorrow!

Is it possible to start nesting this early or am I just in a house move panic?! X

Rowanandremy · 01/04/2023 22:56

@AnnieApple123 No wonder you are shattered, it has been one hectic, and no doubt emotional, time for you. At least things seem a little bit more positive and hopefully that continues throughout your pregnancy.

@unluckyinlife I also had a nesting stage at around 32/34 weeks pregnant with dd and lately I’ve been getting really irritated with things around the house and have started chipping away at things. We aren’t moving (thank god! Last years move was enough) so I can say it must be some form of nesting 😂 dw keeps telling me to rest up and not do another single thing because I end up aching and sometimes baby uses my insides like he’s practicing parkour and makes me wince which makes dw fret a bit.
