@AnnieApple123 I’ve been thinking of you so much these past few days, and so glad things are looking on the positive end of the scale, it must be so hard to wrap your head around without any real information about what you’re facing. It’s much easier to process once you have facts, I hope you get more answers soon. Take care of yourself in the meantime though ❤️

@unluckyinlife yep nesting here too, although in spurts because my energy levels fluctuate so much! Pregnancy with a 3 year old seems to have taken any “glow” of second trimester away 😅 that along with being in a more stressful/full time job this time too. But so far have managed to paint our bedroom and the bathroom ceiling, and began glossing skirting boards/doors.

newmummie · 02/04/2023 10:55

Hi everyone, haven't been on here as I've been on holiday, I'll get a catch up soon & I hope everyone is well! 🤍 I'm looking to know has anyones frequent urination started? I thought this didn't start until later but omg the past 2 weeks I haven't stopped! I'm 21w today.

unluckyinlife · 02/04/2023 14:11

@Rowanandremy and @Amme18 I'm so glad It's not just me. I'm trying to have a more restful day today as I'm still coughing all night due to 'post nasal drip' caused by the pregnancy. I picked up my prescription that's supposed to help so I'm missing sleep!

I've found this pregnancy my energy levels come and go. I think the knowledge that I'm nearly halfway is making me realise at some point I need to stop being in denial! I'm so excited to see baby on Monday, my husband is coming so it will be his first time seeing him or her. I'm terrified also, but I know my worrying won't change the outcome in the meantime, so trying not to panic!

I'm currently waiting for my roast to finish and I'm far too excited! I love a roast but haven't had the energy to cook one recently! X

unluckyinlife · 02/04/2023 14:12

@newmummie mine started about 16 weeks! I couldn't believe it, this will be my 3rd baby so I'm not sure if that's why I've got it so early! I didn't have it at all with my first and my second I think only started at 37 weeks! X

DesertSnow · 02/04/2023 15:52

@AnnieApple123 I've been thinking of you, and so glad to hear that things are looking more positive. Understand that you're not out of the woods and I know you must be feeling so anxious, but have everything crossed for you and your family, and I know everyone here feels the same.

@unluckyinlife Definitely not just you! I've been doing lots of things around the house and probably overdoing it.

I think I'm going to stop running now, I'm getting very uncomfortable and I get pains low down which worry me a bit, particularly as I know baby is sitting quite low, as shown in all scans so far and that's where I'm feeling movement. Managed to keep it up to 23 weeks, but had been hoping to continue longer.

Also, for anyone not on the FB group, we had a private gender scan this week as they weren't sure at the NHS scan. To my absolute surprise, they confirmed that we are expecting a little girl 💖I have been convinced the whole time it's a boy - even before I was pregnant I always thought I would be a boy mum if it happened for us. I would have been thrilled either way but I think because it is such a surprise I feel especially delighted.

Createcomet · 02/04/2023 16:13

@AnnieApple123 We're all thinking of you! I really hope you're doing okay and pleased to hear that you're getting the treatment that you need 💛 please look after yourself!

@DesertSnow you did well to keep going with running up until now. I last ran at 18 weeks (with the running buggy) but it wasn't a regular thing at all. I'm nearly 21 weeks now and just pushing the pram for a walk is enough to be honest. I miss it so, so much and I'm aware that if I have a section (likely) I'm not going to be running again for a lonnnnnng time. But trying not to feel too mournful about it. Last pregnancy was in lockdown so I did lots of 4 mile woodland walks. Not as easy with a 2 year old accompanying me!

We've got our 20 week scan tomorrow. Trying to stay team yellow and not find out but its hard!!!

unluckyinlife · 02/04/2023 16:25

@Createcomet what time is your scan? I asked for the latest appointment possible so mine isn't until 4pm.

Do we need to drink water before the scan? Can't remember!

I'm really set on staying team yellow. I just hope my husband doesn't try and change his mind tomorrow.

Createcomet · 02/04/2023 16:30

@unluckyinlife mine is 11ish I think. I don't think you need a full badder for the 20 week one actually. Mine was a bit too full for the 12 week one so will probably just have a drink half am hour before.
Hope yours goes well for you!!!

ChloeN · 02/04/2023 17:01

@unluckyinlife I didn’t drink and had a wee before I left and they still said my bladder was so full so doesn’t seem necessary 🤣

@Createcomet i think my partner would of found out at ours if I’d let him🤣 I’m still really glad we didn’t!

Rowanandremy · 02/04/2023 17:02

@newmummie I seem to need the toilet constantly at the minute which is far, far earlier than it happened with my first. Also he likes to press low when I go, it makes a quick trip into a 5+ minute thing.

@unluckyinlife definitely not just you! I seem to have tired myself out as I’ve no energy at all today. You have my sympathies for the post nasal drip, I had that early on but thankfully it’s mostly gone away now. I hope the prescription works and you can get some decent sleep. My energy levels are up and down with this one too, with my first once I got to the second trimester I had far more energy than normal. That will be such a special moment for you both on Monday!

@DesertSnow Congratulations on your baby girl! I couldn’t call it for this baby but dw thought girl - she was pretty convinced and was very shocked when found out we’re having a boy.

@Createcomet @unluckyinlife I didn’t need a full bladder for my 20 week scan, I’d forgotten if I did or not but even if they’d needed it I couldn’t have held it that long anyway 😂

DesertSnow · 02/04/2023 17:59

@Createcomet Yes I'm going to really miss running but will try to stay active. My body is just now telling me it's time, so I'm going to listen to it.

@Rowanandremy Thank you! It's funny how we can be so convinced re. gender when it really is down to chance most of the time!

@unluckyinlife don't think you need a full bladder - I peed just before the appointment, then halfway through she asked me to pee again. I think with earlier scans it's useful to have a full bladder as it pushes baby up and out, but by now they're big enough that you don't need that bit of extra help.

P1pk · 02/04/2023 18:31

Useful stuff from all re: if we need a full bladder. My scan is Thursday and I'm sure I would babe asked the question on Wednesday night!

@AnnieApple123 I feel your relief hope you've managed to relax a bit this weekend without all of the running around and stress!

I'm 20+1 and I am wellnand truly nesting, weeing lots and eating very often. I also have felt really thirsty all day so going to try drinking more water and coconut water too. Is anyone feeling the same?

I think I well and truly have pelvis girdle pain. I have been using my pregnancy pillow but laying on top of a throw as well for more cushioning. I've tried to have a nap just now and managed 30min only and got woken by pain in my lower back/bum. Should I call the doctor about this?

CityKity · 02/04/2023 22:00

@DesertSnow congratulations on baby girl! How exciting!

I’m 23weeks this week and by chance haven’t run in the last week and a half due to a combo of weather, sick running buddy, and work. I’m a bit nervous to start again this week as I suspect I might also have to stop at this point. Have been going spinning more often recently to keep up cardio, but the last time I ran I could feel the weight of the baby a lot, and I feel like I’ve well and truly gained a baby bump since so it’s only going to feel harder.

@unluckyinlife I also was told to empty my bladder mid way through my 20w scan.

Travelling a lot for work recently and am exhausted. Feeling well and truly overwhelmed and run down. I feel guilty for baby as I’m not sleeping well or eating well, and generally feel rough in myself. Still waiting on this ‘glow’ and rush of energy that some people talk about 😅.

I think I’m struggling a bit trying to keep up socially and pretend everything is business as usual with colleagues and friends who don’t have children. I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to pretend that nothing has changed so I’m burning the candle at both ends trying to keep work, friends, family happy, but really I just want to hibernate for the next 4 months! I really wish I had even a single friend IRL who was pregnant at the same time and understood that’s it’s not as easy as I’m pretending it is.

sommeliermama · 03/04/2023 07:48

It's nice to see a few others having their 20 week scans today - good luck!! Mine is at 1.20 today, very excited.

However last night at work I had a fall :( was right at the end of my shift and I was going up the stairs to get my things. Made it to the first landing and fell, wasn't able to catch myself so hit my head off the wall and fell backwards onto my bum. Thankfully didn't hit my tummy, but I was really shocked! Went straight home and had a big cry in front of my partner.

I think everything's fine as I didn't hit the bump, but it was scary at the time. Definitely going to be holding tight onto the hand rail from now on

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 03/04/2023 11:35

Had some bleeding this morning so had to come to maternity triage for a check up and to have my anti-d injection. Has anybody had this and know if there are any side effects? I have driven myself as my husband is working away unfortunately

ChloeN · 03/04/2023 11:39

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I haven’t had it this pregnancy but has it after my mc, I felt absolutely fine, didn’t seem to have any effects at all! Xx

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 03/04/2023 11:40

That is good to know. Thank you @ChloeN

Marmaladebear · 03/04/2023 13:48

@sommeliermama enjoy your scan! Very exciting. So sorry to hear about your fall, I hope you're okay, that can give you such a fright

@MinnieFirstTimeMum always scary to have bleeding, hope you're okay! Can't remember what injections I had first time round to be honest, sorry not to be of help there.

Counted today and I only have 13 and a half weeks of work left 🥳🥳🥳

after everything going on with not being promoted for having a childcare issue, being told I'm "not quite the whole package" and solo parenting while wfh with covid last week I'm so drained and done with work! I mentioned my employer has tried to placate me by giving me unlimited budget to do training so I've been having "chemistry" conversations with coaches this week and last which have been super interesting. Some of them "get" me instantly, others don't at all and don't really understand why being told you're "not quite the whole package" completely reeks (someone on this thread even called it out for what it is without me giving any additional context!) Think I know who I'm going for.

Hope everyone's good. We had an estate agent over this morning valuing our house which was exciting and feels like we're finally getting the ball rolling on moving!

Amme18 · 03/04/2023 14:13

@Marmaladebear thanks for this little prompt!! 14 weeks until I’m on mat leave 🎉

unluckyinlife · 03/04/2023 14:57

Maternity leave is 20 weeks away exactly unless baby comes early!

I'm taking mat leave from the Monday after my due date. Making me 40 plus 3 😄

I am officially off of site and client meeting duties (unless virtual) from 31st of July so I have that to look forward to! Only 15 weeks to go 😂

overwork · 03/04/2023 15:15

Ooh. 15 weeks for me too. I didn't have a clue what to ask for really, I don't think they'll let me go over 40 weeks from what the midwife has said (which is fine, I'll be begging for it out by then), so I thought going off at 39 weeks sounded manageable.
I've cut down my hours though (loads of last years leave to use up so I've taken off all Mondays and with the bank hols too it means I don't have to do another one after today). I'll give up my bank shifts whenever I'm ready to too. Be quite nice working a 3 days week for a bit!

Marmaladebear · 03/04/2023 15:29

I went off at 37 weeks last time thinking I was giving myself a couple of weeks before baby was born and literally went into labour my first day of mat leave 😂 so I'm going off early this time at about 34.5 weeks - used loads of annual leave I had saved up then triggering maternity leave at 37 weeks. Maybe baby will be late this time but I just mentally need to go off early because it was not good for me last time not really even getting one day to myself!

DesertSnow · 03/04/2023 17:16

Interesting to hear when people are intending to take mat leave. 16 weeks till mine, when I'll be 39+2. Have heard that warm weather can get things going more quickly though 😳

@CityKity I took my first walk instead of a run today and definitely missed it! Sorry you're feeling overwhelmed, I'm in a similar boat so really sympathise - trying to do too much and be everything to everyone when I would quite like to hibernate really!

Hope everyone having scans today went well. Sorry to hear about your fall @sommeliermama and your bleeding @MinnieFirstTimeMum, hope you're both ok.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 03/04/2023 17:58

Thanks everybody. They were not overly concerned about the bleeding itself, but because I am rhesus negative they just wanted to make sure I got the anti-D injection, blood test, urine sample and a sample of the blood itself. They listened to heartbeat which was all fine but didn't scan because my 20 week scan is tomorrow at 8am 😊

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 03/04/2023 17:59

Doesn't even sound that long until everybody's mat leave starts. I will be having a c-section and intend to stop working 1 week before that but obviously need to wait until I have my date booked x
