@Sweetbabydust1989 how are things now? Settling any? Hope little one is sleeping longer periods now and is more settled. Such a shame the system failed you and your daughter. Many other people would have sat back snd acknowledged the poor advice, well done for standing your ground ❤️

Butterflytulip · 16/10/2022 02:08

We are good. Breast feeding is getting easier. We are using formula too though, around 3 feeds a day (mainly evening when my toddler is home). Works for us and hope to continue until the end of the year. Will look at solely pumping from the new year 😊

Sweetbabydust1989 · 18/10/2022 00:01

@Butterflytulip not too bad she is still having a reaction even to the new milk back to drs tomorrow to see if she needs a different milk I am exhausted and my post pregnancy period is on its way noticed a bit of blood when I wiped.. been so stressed the last few weeks doesn't make it easier when she has a milk allergy and then today I came down to my car to notice a council worker put my back window through while cutting the grass it's completely shattered 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's like when it rains it pours.. all booked in for tomorrow but now I have to sort out how I get my money back off them as he admitted liability by leaving a note on my window to contact customer service,, I would love to start this all again I didn't think that my first few weeks with my baby would be so so stressful xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 18/10/2022 15:46

So my little lady is still reacting to the milk prescribed so she is now being put on a complete cows milk protein free one I hope this works!! Anyone started their post pregnancy period on by god it's so heavy glad the witch has come now it's been brewing for a couple of weeks now!! How you're all getting on great with your babies this group has definitely been my life line xx

annlee3817 · 01/11/2022 14:53

@Sweetbabydust1989 how are you getting on with the new formula? Iona has been prescribed Neocate now, am picking it up from the pharmacy later, the other one didn't agree with her. Am still dairy free for breast feeding, whilst her rush has cleared up, she still has eczema and a runny tummy, but is more settled otherwise.

Fortuny · 01/11/2022 19:16

Jumping on to vent, hope that's ok. I'm miserable. I've been breastfeeding and my 6 week old has dropped two percentiles. I've overcome a poor latch, bad nipple damage, baby having a bad cold and a milk bleb. But now in a morning I've gone from EBF to the Dr telling me to breastfeed with a supplementary formula feed (which I didn't want to do) and pumping in order to exclusively pump for a week to check what my supply is.

My husband thinks I've been too relaxed breastfeeding and I should have been pumping daily in the early days. I tried with my Elvie pump, but I only got 0.5oz and felt that BF was improving so I thought it best to follow the guidance to wait until6 weeks. But I've not been sat on my arse, I've been to BF clinics for advice, clusterfeedibg on demand and I spent this last weekend doing a babymoon. Literally didn't leave the house and just fed skin to skin.

I'm now sat attached to a pump in tears, although hard I love BF and this is just miserable.

annlee3817 · 01/11/2022 19:42

@Fortuny so sorry you're having such a tough time with feeding. Can you borrow a hospital grade pump from your local hospital to see if that helps? Pumping is hard work, and can be soul destroying when you struggle to get a good amount. I've heard fenugreek tea can help with supply. There is also a good website for all things feeding called Kellymom. Sending hugs, you're doing everything you can, be kind to yourself, the early days are tough.

CLC22 · 01/11/2022 20:44

Hi all hope your all ok, my baby girl is now 8 weeks old and it’s going to fast 😢

@Sweetbabydust1989 @annlee3817 my baby girl was also reacting with her milk coming up in a rash and unsettled all the time, the doctor prescribed SMA althera but because it was so thin she was constantly wanting more bottle and still really unsettled , I made the decision to try kendamil milk my baby is so content now and the rash has disappeared, just thought I’d let you know if the new milk doesn’t work, you can buy it in asda 🙂x

annlee3817 · 01/11/2022 20:46

@CLC22 kendalmilk was the first formula she tried and it gave her diarrhea, they think she's dairy intolerant unfortunately

CLC22 · 01/11/2022 20:56

@annlee3817 aw I’m sorry to hear that poor baby hope the new milk works 🤞x

Sweetbabydust1989 · 01/11/2022 20:59

@annlee3817 oh it's been a nightmare it's taken countless calls to gp and hv.. 2 a&e trips.. 7 doctors and 6 milk changes and I am still not there with her yet.. she I had been on neocate for 15 days and the milk works however her reflux is awful due to the consistency of the milk so she is on medication for that.. I am being black listed by my gp now as I have called them out on their lying saying they hadn't received letters to request an allergy specialist referral be done. I am point blank exhausted with fight thing the professionals that are suppose to be helping her.. I finally have my own health visitor now. I am also putting a complaint into the nhs commissioner for what we have been through xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 01/11/2022 21:03

@CLC22 no more milk changes need to be done now neocate works for her she has an instant reaction to anything with milk proteins in them the rash appears and then she starts wheezing it's bloody awful. Honestly couldn't make this shit up the amount of issues I have had with the professionals that are meant to support her xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 01/11/2022 21:14

This is only some of the stuff we have had to deal with for 6 weeks.. it took countless phone calls to gp/hv for them to tell me it was baby acne, colic and reflux I only saw the gp in person the hv done this over the phone not sure how they can tell anything over the phone.. 7 doctors… 6 milk changes and 2 a&e trips to get answers the first a&e trip the junior doctor basically asked me what I wanted her to do about it 🤦🏻‍♀️ on the second a&e trip we saw 4 doctors in total they kept saying acne, reflux and colic 😩and then a consultant came down to see her took one look at her and diagnosed her straight away she had literally had a bottle 5 mins before he walked in and her rash was so serve there was no doubt in his mind he switched her onto pepti 1 which didn’t work 100% so they went straight to neocate and that completely clear all her rash and stopped her wheezing that was the big give away to the consultant as she was so wheezy.. I am still fighting with her reflux now.. her gp is diabolical they refused to do her repeat prescription as I had to give them 48 notice for them to be done even though on her notes the doctor put that she needed to be notified as soon as I call so she could issue her prescription as it takes 2 days for my pharmacy to order her milk in I literally had one 400g tin that was meant ti last 5 days according to the receptionist 🤦🏻‍♀️ thankfully we got that sorted with the support of the pharmacy.. the receptionists at the gp are a disgrace to the nhs lying about not receiving her letters from the dietitian but the admin from the dietitian told me they get a automated response so when the Emails are opened and read so I went bat sit crazy as they had received and read it... they have now told me to find a new gp as I am not happy with their service wtf it's the receptionist I have the issue with not the doctor she is amazing.. honestly the list is endless.. I have all pictures from when the rash started etc xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 01/11/2022 21:20

I am now suffering with serve ptsd due to all this and wouldn't surprise me if I have PND too the ptsd kicks in when she cries I get all panicky because the cries when her allergy was at its worse was so bad she would scream morning noon and night that went on for weeks it was a piercing scream xx

annlee3817 · 02/11/2022 02:06

@Sweetbabydust1989 I'm so sorry you've gone through all that! Sounds absolutely appalling, hope you told the receptionist that you would not be moving! Glad you've got the right milk now though, obviously should have been a better journey for you :(

GlitteryGreen · 02/11/2022 07:30

Hey everyone, so sorry to read some of you are having such a hard time.

@Sweetbabydust1989 I'm glad you are going to complain, sounds like you were treated really badly and it's caused loads of unnecessary stress and suffering for you and your baby.

@Fortuny God sounds like you've been through a lot with the feeding. It really pisses me off that midwives want us to breastfeed, knowing it's harder and takes time to establish supply and technique, but as soon as it's not going perfectly straight away they try to push us to use formula. A midwife was telling me to add formula when my baby was just 4 days old???? And that I had to pump directly after a feed and give her that straight away, but it just wasn't possible, I had nothing left once I'd fed her.
I'd say definitely give the pumping a chance and don't be put off by getting little amounts, I used to literally get about 10-15ml in total from both breasts combined at first, but I persevered and I think it has helped my supply increase and even the little bit extra helped her weight increase. I combine all pumps into one bottle and dp gives it to her. I could only ever manage max 3 pumps a day in between feeds, and now I just do one when I can so DP has something to give her if needed.

GlitteryGreen · 02/11/2022 07:33

Does anyone else have a baby that won't be put down to sleep? 😭 or put down hardly at all?

I can't get her down in her crib or moses basket unless she's completely asleep already, and more often than not she wakes up within minutes if I manage it. She's now having to cosleep with us and I'd much rather she wasn't as I worry so much about her safety and also it means I can't even roll over during the night.

Help 😩 I've read all the tips and tricks but 9/10 times she cries when I put her down even in the day. She cries all through our dinners because no one's holding her??? What can I do?!

Fortuny · 02/11/2022 17:27

@GlitteryGreen same thing has started with DS. I've not cracked it. But I have started putting him in a sling in the day, at night I've got a microwavable water bottle type thing that I move around the mattress for a few minutes, I find that prewarming the cot has helped sometimes.

Fortuny · 02/11/2022 17:27

@aannlee3817 thanks just rented a Spectra, fingers crossed!

Fortuny · 02/11/2022 17:30

@GlitteryGreen I'm desperate to get back to BFing, juggling BF, multiple formula feeds and expressing in a day is miserable.

Agree about the MW pressure, if oxytocin is key then I think the whole process of weight management is so stressful it can only have a negative impact on supply.

Sweetbabydust1989 · 02/11/2022 17:40

@annlee3817 oh I no hopefully we will get it sorted iam not letting it go?? Has your little one had their jabs yet we are due on Friday but I am rather nervous now xx

annlee3817 · 02/11/2022 19:17

@Sweetbabydust1989 sadly not, she's been unwell so we had postpone and now in hospital with bronchiolitis :( currently on oxygen and next step a feeding tube

Fortuny · 02/11/2022 20:58

Gosh @annannlee3817 that sounds terrifying. Stay strong x

Yeah it's really frustrating when you're really doing your best and they make you feel so bad and then start booking you in for constant weigh-ins.
I knew if I started giving her formula I'd end up giving up breastfeeding completely cos it's so much easier and dp can muck in too, so I was really reluctant. Luckily we came out the other side and she started slowly gaining weight 🤞 She was fine and happy the whole time though, I really don't think they needed to act like they did.
Hope you can stop all the extra stuff soon, it's draining. In the end my dp had to literally tell me to step away from the pump because I was driving myself mad and pumping when I should have been sleeping 🙈
