@Sweetbabydust1989 do you have a sling library near you? Maybe a better structured carrier would help your back, our sling library hires them out to try.

Definitely see the doctor and explain how it's affecting you, and state that you feel support is lacking. I'd be tempted to put in a complaint on that health visitor! How old is Sienna now?

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/10/2022 08:30

@annlee3817 I think I need to adjust it again for her height and weight so will sort that out today.. yeah the hv was disgusting lucky I am strong minded so it kinda was like water of a ducks back to me but could you imagine a first time parent or someone very vulnerable hearing they can't be helped because of their choice in feeding I had no milk only a little she had a brilliant latch she did it first time but I had nothing to give so had no option to bottle feed.. I have changed bottles she takes gaviscon and now gripe water as the infacol did bugger all they gaviscon is backing her up so I give daily baths which I hate but it's the only place she can be calm while I do a baby massage on her stomach to get things moving.. she is 5 weeks tomorrow but this is all been happening since 3 weeks it's so sad as my beautiful girl is obviously struggling but no one will help they just give the sympathetic speech on how it will get better which I no it will but come on you wouldn't go days in pain and she is so little.. with my son he has reflux so was on dr browns bottles, gaviscon and comfort milk he was a different boy after I put him on that milk but I worry as she has a had a few disastrous fails I don't want to cause her anymore harm xx

annlee3817 · 06/10/2022 08:46

@Sweetbabydust1989 bless you, it's so tough isn't it, makes you feel helpless. Really hope the doctor can help, I've read a lot of posts on here about colic and reflux and they do say it gets better as they get older, but it's hard when you're experiencing it. We're hoping that we'll start to see the effects of my dairy free diet next week and she'll be more settled, the rash on her face is just horrible and she seems very uncomfortable. I feel your pain, not sure what else to suggest though as I've not had a massive amount of luck with relieving the colic either.

@Sweetbabydust1989 my little girl was on comfort milk and gaviscon, and also ranitidine for a little while. They advised I didn’t change her milk again but I wish I had just done it, but as a ftm I was scared to do anything. They make reflux milk which is a bit thicker, which I think could have helped her. If you want to try something else just give it a go, but remember to give it some time to work, it’s not likely to be an overnight change. Her reflux didn’t settle until she was past 1 year old, so the advice of it’ll get better is really not helpful! Mine wouldn’t settle lay down, as it caused her pain. I had her crib propped up and used to sit her in her swing chair as that kept her more upright. Her feeds took forever as well as I had to burp her more and keep her upright for a half an hour after. It’s hard work having a reflux baby, I really feel for you. x

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/10/2022 10:39

@annlee3817 think it's a milk allergy going doctors just fed her a bottle and she has come up all in a rash 🥲 been battling with the doctors and health visitors and no one has taken me seriously xx

annlee3817 · 06/10/2022 10:41

@Sweetbabydust1989 if it helps this is a pic of Iona's rash and the doc has referred her. I think as well if it comes up around the mouth it points at an allergy.

@Em85kk my second born had silent reflux so was on gaviscon and comfort milk and it worked wonders for him but I am not sure with her as she has this horrible rash and she is very wheezy and sounds like she constantly has a blocked nose xx

annlee3817 · 06/10/2022 11:05

@Sweetbabydust1989 same with Iona, she's wheezy, constant snuffly nose (sounds like a velociraptor) 12+ runny nappies a day, reflux, colic, some green and mucus in her nappies

Em85kk · 06/10/2022 11:12

@Sweetbabydust1989 it sounds like milk allergy doesn’t it? Zach is wheezy and comes up in a little rash after feeding, nothing as bad as these photos but I’m a bit worried it’s an allergy. He’s got a stuffy nose, but my daughter has had a cold so I’m not sure if it’s just from her. Does the rash fade down after eating or stay like that?

Sweetbabydust1989 · 06/10/2022 11:33

@Em85kk @annlee3817 doctor checked her over said it's just baby acne and to continue with the plan until Monday hoping she might settle going to take her for a walk in her buggy as that seems to help xx

annlee3817 · 06/10/2022 15:43

@Sweetbabydust1989 hope she settles for you

annlee3817 · 08/10/2022 09:05

@Sweetbabydust1989 how are you doing?

Sweetbabydust1989 · 08/10/2022 10:16

@annlee3817 so had an interesting day yesterday I had to take my middle child to his peads consultant app and his doctor whom is so lovely and we have known for years sort of hijacked my son's appointment to help me out with my little lady it was really funny as he was discussing her more than my son but we did speak about my son in the end.. he straight away told me to change her milk and bottles I had already changed the bottles I was already changing her milk after his app anyway but having him someone I trust confirm that my choice was the right option after being battered by the health visitors to ride it out was amazing.. I was constantly told not to change her milk when I kept telling them that the milk is the issue and I needed support on how to change it without it upsetting her as we had changed it once before.. he said the way I am being treating by my hv's people who are suppose to be supporting me is disgusting and to report them.. I expressed how I wanted to refuse the 6-8 week check and he said I could but to make sure I tell them the reasons why.. so we have been on the milk since yesterday afternoon and oh my touching wood here but I think it's bloody working!! We had the best night last night and she is currently napping right now!!! I managed to get more sleep too!! She doesn't seem to be in distress while drinking her milk she seems more settled.. I had to literally break the teats as I had slow flow and was unable to buy her ones in the shop so ordered on Amazon coming today.. so sorry for the long reply 😂 xx

newmumtotwo24 · 08/10/2022 10:25

@Sweetbabydust1989 I'm so glad you have a supportive doctor. It does sound like your HV are being very unhelpful and obstructive. Fingers crossed the new milk continues to help and you can really start enjoying your little one without the feeding stresses

Sweetbabydust1989 · 08/10/2022 13:51

I@newmumtotwo24 honestly my hv are useless I have 3 children now so it's not my first rodeo I understand colic they will grow out of my issues was she was in so much pain with her stomach and all I got was the sympathetic she will grow out of crap no she cannot spend the next 2 months in agony I couldn't have stomach pains for 2 months.. I am hoping the milk works I no it will take sometime for it too just sad she only settles in her buggy, car seat or on me but my sons consultant said that it's fine until she gets better as I worried to much time in the car seat isn't good for them xx

Sweetbabydust1989 · 09/10/2022 01:51

Don't think I can do this no more I am exhausted she won't sleep at all 20 mins at a time I honestly dont no what else to do now I am at breaking point

annlee3817 · 09/10/2022 07:30

@Sweetbabydust1989 sorry you're having a bad night after the good one. Iona wouldn't settle yesterday, not even on me, she was exhausted and her tummy was upset, rash had come back. I've had a horrible night, was hoping to have turned a corner by now with being dairy free :( hope you managed to get some sleep after you posted. Can your OH watch her for a bit today so that you can get some sleep?

annlee3817 · 09/10/2022 07:31

Or any friends that would come round for a cuddle so that you can sleep?

Sweetbabydust1989 · 09/10/2022 08:46

@annlee3817 I wish lovely I think everyone is getting sick of it now so as I am constantly crying and stressed so they stop responding even my mum doesn't respond my partner does help as much as he can.. I just don't no what to do with her she is still not settled I don't no if it actually is an allergy but the hv's now longer respond and the doctors well aren't too great either so yeah have no support from anyone I take her a&e to be asked by a junior doctor what I want them to do I am concerned she is now only taking an oz of milk and she just grunts all the time xx

annlee3817 · 09/10/2022 09:47

@Sweetbabydust1989 my friend gave gripe water in the bottle and a dose of infacol before the feed, she said both together was the only thing that helped, so may be worth a try, you can get the hypoallergenic formula on Amazon to try, it's expensive though at £17 for a 400g tin

rcal1988 · 11/10/2022 18:29

Hi everyone. Hope you’re all doing ok. Just wanted to ask did anyone have an episiotomy and if so what has your recovery been like? I had to have one with forceps delivery 4 weeks ago and still struggling with pain/achey down below. I really thought it might be better by now. It’s fine sitting down and gives me some relief but standing and walking is still a struggle at times. Maybe I’m being impatient but it’s starting to get me down that I can’t go out with the pram for a decent walk yet 😢 x x

Butterflytulip · 11/10/2022 19:32

@Sweetbabydust1989 are you ok?
When she is awake is she crying/seem uncomfortable?

Sweetbabydust1989 · 11/10/2022 22:07

@Butterflytulip @annlee3817 finally we a diagnosis after 3 weeks of battling hv's and gps tonight was the last straw I took her to a&e and she saw a consultant who diagnosed her with a milk allergy!! I feel so bad for my little girl like I have neglected her even with the constant phone calls to the gp and hv's I cannot wait to see them Friday and let them have it xx

Butterflytulip · 11/10/2022 22:11

Good on you @Sweetbabydust1989 for standing your ground!! I was actually going to suggest that as I see a lot of it talked about on breast feeding group I'm following on Facebook. Hopefully this will be you turning the corner now. Let us know how things go over next while when you make the changes ❤️
