New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

@Shelly1812 Still have 10 days to wait to find out if this is the case for me, but i've felt little/no movement so I assume so, as on the previous scans this one was moving all over the place. I can feel little flutters now when lying down at night, but they are unpredictable and I am always like "was that actually a flutter". 19+1 today. So strange!

Ems2208 · 06/04/2022 19:02

Does the Chinese gender calendar predictor works? let me know if you’ve had your gender scan if it’s accurate!!

Shelly1812 · 06/04/2022 19:38
@Shelly1812

How strange that it's so different! The sonographer actually praised me on having such a full bladder so it definitely wasn't just something they put on the letter for the sake of it!

I have a posterior placenta and can feel baby all over when lying down, but when sitting up like at my desk I only feel her very low, basically just above the public bone, and it does feel just like pops. An guessing you are around 19/20 weeks? If so, that's still quite early to be feeling movements, especially with an anterior placenta, do you are doing well!
So annoying when it's different for different trusts lol! I'll go with some in my bladder lol! Yeah 20 weeks tomorrow had some movement from 17 weeks (Same with my 1st). Just wish I could be excited rather than nervous x

I'll be honest, I had never heard of it until your post. Just checked - accurate for me. Predicted boy which is what my 20 week scan (very clearly!) showed.

Hello mamas again on this new thread! I'm now 20 weeks with my twin girls! 😊 I have my ultrasound next Wednesday and I'm meeting with consultant so it's it's exciting yet nervous at the same time

Katjolo · 07/04/2022 08:21

Exciting! I'm also expecting twins. 🙂

BunnieMilk · 07/04/2022 08:43

@Katjolo amazing! What are you having and when are you due

Shelly1812 · 07/04/2022 09:05

Welcome @BunnieMilk ☺️.

20 weeks today!! I feel like it's flying in and dragging in in equal measures 😂😂 x

Hellohello5678 · 07/04/2022 09:05

Hi all! Delighted to be joining you!

I'm 20 weeks today exactly. Feels fantastic to be halfway through. I've started feeling movements. They started out as tiny little swirls that I wasn't sure were movements, but are gradually increasing in strength. They are few and far between though. Just a couple of minutes at a time and then nothing for the whole day!

I've also noticed a change to appetite again. I'm back to only really wanting to eat fruit and bland cards, after a while of eating well and having plenty of veg etc. I've recently had covid so I'm not sure if that's the reason. Anyone else noticed an appetite change around the 19-20 week point?

CoalCraft · 07/04/2022 09:57

I must be really showing now! Was just stopped by two colleagues who were marvelling at how I'd "grown a bump over night" and "you didn't look like that last week" Grin

BunnieMilk · 07/04/2022 10:12

@CoalCraft oh god, I know how you feel!
I bumped into a old work friend who works somewhere else now, I last saw her when I was about 10 weeks and told her I was pregnant.. now I'm 20 and she went 'wow you're really getting big now arent you' I wanted to cry inside haha 😂

PopGoesBang · 07/04/2022 11:41

@CoalCraft this week has been the week on the school run I've been told several times my bump has popped! Uh thanks!

Just back from my rescan and after baby was awkward for heart measurements and had to get a second opinion - which was slightly worrying. All is good.
And no obvious boy bits so we're going with girl!
Dd wanted a boy but I'm pretty sure once she's home from school she'll be thrilled.

Mirabella3 · 07/04/2022 12:26

@Hellohello5678 welcome! I’m 20+1 today and the way you are describing movements is exactly how I’ve been feeling the movements. It’s like I feel the baby a few times in the early morning and then nothing the whole day, maybe a few little swirls/tiny thumps right before bedtime. I had my 20wk scan last week when I was 19wks and baby was moving around so much, I just couldn’t feel it. I look forward to feeling stronger and more regular movements in the coming weeks!

Hellohello5678 · 07/04/2022 12:51

@Mirabella3 yes, mine sound extremely similar! I want to sit still as much as possible to try to feel more! It's amazing to think that in a while we'll just get used to them. Right now I find them amazing and so interesting Smile

That's great you've had your scan. I'm feeling quite anxious about mine next week!

squatternutbosh12 · 07/04/2022 13:35

Yay @PopGoesBang glad re scan was good! Congrats on your girl 😀

I’ve not had any bump comments as I’m being a hermit 😂 I imagine when I do finally see people in the real world I’ll look massive to them!

Have spent this morning knitting a little baby hat 🥰 first attempt at a lace-type pattern which has gone quite well I think… although the yarn is chunky so I’m afraid it might boil his head being born in august!! I made some booties from the same yarn a while back so wanted a hat to match ☺️

Isonthecase · 07/04/2022 14:23

@squatternutbosh12 sounds lovely! I knitted a bit for ours and accidentally made the hats too small and the pom poms enormous (I do love a pom pom!) so worth double checking sizes. Mine were extremely amateur though so you're probably all over it already 🙈

Also started to get bump popping comments, it's no longer totally flat in the morning!!

Beth262 · 07/04/2022 15:08

@PopGoesBang Congratulations on your girl and glad to hear all went well at the rescan - eventually!

Welcome @Hellohello5678

@squatternutbosh12 and @Isonthecase you're both so practical with your knitting!

I was going to ask how people felt about beginning to get things together now we're all at (or very close to) the halfway mark. Obviously I have a lot of clothes and things from DS1 but was starting to look at furniture and was wondering if I was jumping the gun a bit? What's everyone's view? DS had a cot that turned into a toddler bed and then a day bed that's suitable up to 6yo (so another 4 years) so need to get something else for his brother's room...

madeleine85 · 07/04/2022 15:38

@Beth262 I gave away 99% of our last baby things as we live in a small space. There is a handy Facebook Mums group near me where people tend to recycle things, so i've been slowly reclaiming what I gave up/need again. We have the same dilema with a sleeping arrangement, but won't move to somewhere bigger until the baby is 6 months old, so i'm considering a pack and play with sleep insert for the first few months so I can move him around the house until we have a real bedroom for him, and then we will switch our toddler to a real bed. Apart from that I just really need the buggy board thing for our stroller which no one seems to give away ever, so i'll buy that. Trying to not spend a fortune this time around, as so much last time was a waste, or wasn't needed till months in!

Beth262 · 07/04/2022 15:56

@madeleine85 Despite previously being in a 2 bed new build (tiny!) I clung on to everything! Has made a very cluttered last 2 years 😆

PopGoesBang · 07/04/2022 15:57

@Beth262 it's been 9 years since dd - the only thing I still have is a trip trap high chair. I said to dp today we really need to start making decisions.
I'm torn about getting a next to me style cot, but if that only lasts for 6 months is it worth it? So any of you have experience with one of those style cots?
We aren't doing a nursery right now, we have a lot of work going on in the house and need that to settle before we can focus on that, but definitely need to get some basics.
One babygro purchased today that said little sister on to give to dd - as predicted she's thrilled and has long forgotten she wanted a brother!

@squatternutbosh12 @Isonthecase well done on the knitting! I couldn't knit anything!

Beth262 · 07/04/2022 16:12

@PopGoesBang Thank you, I'm relieved to hear that others are thinking about buying things too. Makes me feel OK to think about nursery furniture.

I bought a next to me off gumtree for £30 for DS to sleep in at night. Totally worked for us. I wouldn't buy new given they are in them such a short time and you can probably make your money back on it afterwards too.

@Beth262 that is impressive! My combination of OCD cleanliness and I think I immediatly wanted a second child just so that the infant rearing years were done, so it mentally felt good to give away the things, and not have reminders of that around while we waited till we were really ready (thank god my husband insistend on waiting a few years or i'd be in a loony bin).

@PopGoesBang that is a lovely idea having your existing child pick out something for the baby, I'm going to do this too now. I've heard when the baby comes it should have a gift for the older one, so i'll have to think of something for that as well.
