New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

@SquigsC is this your first? I couldn't tell BH from anything with my DD, this time I can, but it feels much more obvious. I wouldn't read anything into it tbh (hopefully so you don't go late)!

This is my first yes! That could be it :) I’m still never sure if baby boy is hiccuping or not. Im really hoping not to have a late baby but as it’s my first I am prepared for that!

Yep, definitely relate to the Braxton Hicks descriptions here. For me my whole bump goes rock solid and it is an uncomfortable, tight feeling, though not really painful. Then again, for me real labour contractions weren't painful either! The only difference for me was that I felt the latter more in my lower back, so I'm panicking at every little twinge there 🙄

I had BH constantly for months in my last pregnancy so am very sensitive to them, but thankfully have had so much fewer this time. Maybe just one every few hours rather than every five minutes. Hence Mr feeling optimistic.

Just two days to go till DD's gestation!

On the subject of breast pumps, the hospital grade ones are great but for home last time I had the Bellababy double electric pump from Amazon and honestly, despite being by far the cheapest on the market (I think it was like £35!?) it worked amazingly for me. The trick I found was to take out the rubber pad things and just use the plastic horn, as the pads hurt a bit and seemed to reduce milk flow. DD never took to direct breastfeeding so that pump fed her exclusively for four months before I switched to formula.

Really hoping not to need it this time but we'll see!

Will take a look at the Bellababy. Thanks @CoalCraft

It's July! Wow. I wonder how many of our babies will arrive this month.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the date!
I'm due August 9th and whilst I do prefer August, I guess I wouldn't complain if he arrived a week or two earlier😂

Isonthecase · 01/07/2022 11:19

Apparently average first time babies come about 8 days past due date so not technically late until then I suppose?

Amazing how much variation there will be on arrival dates from May to September! Hopefully a few this month although let's put most of our hoping into the weather staying ok, ha 😅

Isonthecase · 01/07/2022 11:19

Nearly at the end of the thread!

Hahaha I hope that's not true! But my midwife did say there's no scientific evidence supporting that first time babies arrive late
So fingers crossed! I'm impatient as it is 😆

Beth262 · 01/07/2022 12:27

@Isonthecase I think a few of us in this group put paid to that statistic with our firsts 😆

I'll start a new one again
