New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

@squatternutbosh12 so many odd dreams. They've become a bit more controllable, so less nightmares and more entertaining.

Let's see. In past week I've had a zombie apocalypse, and my family not taking it seriously until last minute and saying oh the news says the infected are only eating livestock, and me getting them to grab all pets and stockpile food and hole up in cellar.

In another I'd lived hundreds of years and had lots of adventures with cool powers and in a jaunt through space met up with doctor who and helped solve a mysterious conflict between new colonists and the planet they'd settled on.

In another I was a ER doctor who got kidnapped on way to work, and the dream started when a guy dropped me off severely injured at same ER, and turns out I'd been brain damaged by attack and dream went through long recovery and therapy and learning to walk and trying to get my memory of the event back so I could name the attackers. More fun than it sounds. It was facinating slowly getting use of body back and starting to help out with fellow patients and feeling such satisfaction when I helped alert staff to a patient's medical emergency as the character I was in loved getting a piece of their career back.

I've always had detailed dreams, but they seem more colourful and more constantly plot based with surprises, etc.

Wow @ToCaden they sound epic!! Like feature length movies! 🍿

Shelly1812 · 04/04/2022 12:48

Yip dreamt we got a puppy at the same time as the baby, i decided to breastfeed both of them... and that was apparently normal as long as i washed my nipples in between haha!

My 20 week scan this week too.
I feel the same very anxious and constantly worrying about lack of movement/feelings and size of bump. If anything think it may have gone down slightly.

Isonthecase · 04/04/2022 16:57

This all sound fascinating. I remember a particularly bizarre recurring dream when pregnant previously where is was being chased through some kind of interdimensional Moroccan style space bazaar by my secondary school maths teacher. That would have been fun for a psychoanalyst.

@Beth262 I couldn't cope with the notifications 🙈

@squatternutbosh12 thank you, I'm trying to tell myself it's my incredibly toned stomach muscles and I'm basically the Midlands answer to Candice schwanpoel but think it would be more convincing if it wasn't such a blatant lie 😂 bring on the scan already!!

Delight12 · 04/04/2022 17:02

Thank you for the tag, I'm starting to feel baby move a bit more now which is reassuring. Morning sickness is still there but not so much now,

netflixandnochill · 04/04/2022 17:19

Feeling normal now just VERY bloated. No movement yet but she was very wriggly at the scan this afternoon. Ten fingers and ten toes so can’t ask for much more (apart from for her to start wriggling harder for my own reassurance!).

PopGoesBang · 04/04/2022 17:28

@squatternutbosh12 forgive me I'm all behind but are on any meds for the sickness/nausea? If you are it may need mixing up again or if you aren't it sounds well worth speaking to your gp.
I'm still taking Ondansetron, and even with that I have some days where the sickness is crippling and the nausea is still present but thankfully it is a few days compared to constant which was so debilitating. You have my sympathy and I hope it settles for you soon.

surprised12 · 04/04/2022 20:04

Ladies I'm having a huge panic.

I've tried to contact my midwife but not really sure what else to do.

I've got a really awful feeling and it's worrying me so much. In the last week - my bump has just shot out - I'm 20 weeks on Thursday.
Progressively I've been getting a feeling at the bottom of my tummy (the top of my knicker line) and it feels like a massive amount of pressure.
It feels like everything has just sunk to the bottom of my tummy.

It started just when I was standing up, but tonight I can feel it sitting down aswell.
My baby is an active mover since I've been able to feel him, but not exactly sure I've felt him today (or maybe I have and just forgotten)

Anyone else feel or felt like this??

madeleine85 · 04/04/2022 20:18

@surprised12 I am 19 weeks tomorrow and I had a ton of cramping saturday/sunday nights this weekend, and the bump has just shot out. I am definitely feeling added pressure too. I felt kicks at 16 weeks, but nothing since, though have had checks and his heartbeat is good/they tell me he is moving. When is your 20 week check? Hoping you can get seen just to reassure you, but I am optimistically hoping that you are totally normal here.

Ahhh you've given me so much relief that you feel similar things too!
I think they should give you a guidebook of what is normal and what's not!!

My 20 week scan is on Friday - so don't have too long to wait.
I'm sure he's fine - I'll just pay attention for him to be moving around for the rest of tonight x

makingabebe · 04/04/2022 21:54

Hey @positivevibes22 yes we are due date twins! 9th August for me too. Will look into hypnobirthing, thanks for the tip! Hey @netflixandnochill and hey @squatternutbosh12 thanks for the reassurance and sorry to hear about your sickness, that's really rubbish and hope you get some relief soon. A few weeks ago I went through a phase where my stomach decided it couldn't stand the taste of toothpaste so I threw up a couple of times while brushing my teeth ... grim!

Also, on the topic of low placentas, mine is also low and so have extra scans booked in (due to that but also my ethnicity) and my placenta is also anterior, am absolutely craving to feel baby from outside. @surprised12 I'm sure your baby is fine, at my 20-week scan baby was spinning, kicking etc. and it's so weird that I can't feel them! But was so reassuring to see. My bump has also properly popped only now really, 22 weeks.

Am going on holiday to Lanzarote next week and kind of scared about flying during a pandemic while pregnant ... but haven't been abroad since March 2019 and really need to feel some sun, very tired and fed up of the cold/rain, and figure it's our last chance to properly relax for a while.

squatternutbosh12 · 04/04/2022 23:22

@PopGoesBang yeah am on ondansetron, cyclizine and omeprazole. Sorry you’re still having nausea too 😞 Fingers crossed it settles down for both of us eventually! x

PopGoesBang · 05/04/2022 09:19

@squatternutbosh12 Fingers crossed for you too - I've found I have weird days where for no apparent reason everything is horrendous. And then it settles again. Bit like the weather currently, lulls you into a false sense of security and then mixes it all up again.
I know on the hypermesis thread lots say the more rest the better - so I hope you are managing some rest in between everything. And genuinely hope you get some relief soon.

LiMc1 · 05/04/2022 13:08

Bit of a hopeful question really.. where is everyone buying maternity clothes?!? 😩
They are expensive as it is, but also no where seems to stock them in the shop... which is ridiculous because I want to try them on!! 😭
Someone give me cheap places to get them!!
I'm also struggling to find anything to fit over my now gigantic boobs (TMI sorry they just keep growing!!!)
🤞hoping someone has the answer!🤞

ToCaden · 05/04/2022 13:35

@LiMc1 my solution is wearing leggings type things that seem to fit under the bump well, plus large men's t-shirts from hand me downs or charity shops. Right now in the cold I'm wearing fleece jackets and hoodies as they tend to be oversized. Won't suit everyone but it's a style I like and cheap so suits me. No advice to offer in boob department. Mine have never been big so still getting away with well worn sports bras.

SantiagoSister · 05/04/2022 13:38

@LiMc1 so far I have bought some maternity bits from New Look, H&M and Dorothy Perkins and I’ve been happy with them all. Dorothy Perkins also offer free returns so I ordered multiple sizes to make sure I had a good fit, then just returned the others. There’s always a discount code floating about online too to make it a little cheaper 😊

ToCaden · 05/04/2022 13:40

My sis is more into regular maternity stuff and she's recced a website called Shein.

Beth262 · 05/04/2022 13:47

@LiMc1 George at Asda have a few nice bits that are reasonable price, especially if you can catch any sale stuff. They only have the maternity stuff to try on in larger stores but you can do click and collect for free and free returns too for everything from the website.

I've bought a few things off Vinted but it's hit and miss as the whether they will fit perfectly whent hey turn up and you obv can't return so I've stuck to cheaper things - I had a pair of over bump ASOS jeans for £2 this week 🙂

OP posts:
Cakecakecheese · 05/04/2022 13:49

I'm still wearing my regular clothes. I knew there was a reason I wear stretchy type dresses! I have a lot of dresses from Popsy and they are really good for a starting to emerge bump. I have ordered a maternity coat, a Dorothy Perkins one on ebay as I refuse to pay the exorbitant prices that some places have.

21 weeks and still not feeling anything. Damn anterior placenta.

RP90 · 05/04/2022 13:53

@LiMc1 I could have written this myself Smile. I've got some dresses from Asos in the sale and Im currently living in them. I found New Look maternity jeans really comfy in my last pregnancy too.
Shops around me don't have maternity sections which is annoying! I also don't want to spend alot as I know I'll likely get quite a bit bigger ha!

Mufflette · 05/04/2022 14:04

@LiMc1 I hate that you can't find things in shops! So far I've had luck in H&M and New Look (weirdly our small New Look stocks maternity and the big one doesn't), but have got a few bits from eBay too.

20 week scan for me today, baby (boy) is all fine but I have a super short cervix so starting on progesterone pessaries and keeping fingers crossed that when I go again next week it hasn't got worse!

beckybloomwood11 · 05/04/2022 14:15

@LiMc1 I've bought a few bits from Sainsbury's cause I could see them in store and check what they looked like. New Look has been good, got some bits from Boohoo which were hit and miss! Also noticed the shops don't really have stuff in which is annoying!

I WFH so everyday stuff is quite easy - leggings and an oversized shirt, maternity t shirt etc, but I have a few in person client meetings coming up which is harder to know what to wear! I've bought a couple of floaty midi skirts in a size up from the non-maternity ranges with an elastic waist so hopefully they last for a bit!

Celyn22 · 05/04/2022 14:26

@LiMc1 I am currently wearing most of my looser fitting/stretchy normal clothes, and I was super grateful to receive a bundle of maternity clothes from my mum as a gift. She told me she bought two bundles women were selling on eBay. I have had a look myself and it seems a much more affordable way of doing it. I am on an almost non-existent budget right now so I don’t have a lot of options!
