New thread - because I'm badly procrastinating with actual work today 😆

@Cakecakecheese you have a great partner! Mine accused me of getting smaller this weekend when I took our toddler to a pool and had on a bikini, wasn't expecting that! I on the other hand feel like a beached whale who can barely tie her shoes. Though the baby is clearly still moving positions in there, so it changes throughout the day. I will say though the swim felt amazing for taking weight off my feet/legs and getting my body a bit of a muscle stretch.

My appetite seems to decrease in the third trimester (same as last pregnancy). Though if I don't eat much, or just snack and eat bread and sugars, the heartburn returns and I get tired all the time. Absolutely exhausted today, on a conference call right now and would give my right arm for a nap... damn you zoom meetings and being on camera! Looking forward to next week's 32 week growth scan as getting a bit worried how he is doing, as I haven't seen him in 12 weeks, even though he is likely totally fine. I don't trust the belly measurement method to give a reliable size estimate, so this is a welcomed ultrasound. It is a weird fine line between not wanting a giant baby, but wanting a healthy baby and having no idea how much to eat/not eat each day with still 7-8 weeks to go (hopefully).

@Beth262 heartburn / acid reflux is terrible. I think it's my least favourite thing followed shortly by back aches and ribs being used as drums or a hiding spot.

Steady stream of rennies, gaviscon, tums, and omeprazole here.

They do say lots of heartburn means baby will be born with hair which happens to be the case with mine as he already has a head full.

I've gotten so used to having a wriggler inside me I think it's going to be odd once he's out. I'm going to be wondering why he's not kicking when he's right there in front of me.

madeleine85 · 27/06/2022 19:16

@ToCaden did you see the hair on a 4D scan or something? I heard the same about heartburn, but didn't know if it was an old wives tale. I feel like I had worse heartburn with my DD. I have a pack of tums and i've only taken a quarter so far this pregnancy, and can diet control most of it away. I'll have a wee baldie of a baby boy :)

ToCaden · 27/06/2022 20:38

@madeleine85 I think it is an old wives tale tbh, but did work out as 'true' for me. Yes, seen on 4d scan. He has so much hair he even has little curls of it by his ears.

SquigsC · 27/06/2022 21:07

Hey everybody! Glad to hear we’re still all plodding on through the heartburn and the sweats!

I am finding I am less hungry in my third trimester - I think it’s my heartburn and exhaustion! I had my baby shower at the weekend and I desperately wanted all the treats but was struggling to eat them all 😂

madeleine85 · 27/06/2022 21:39

@ToCaden thats so cute!!! I had a third trimester 4d scan with my DD and it was horrendous. Weird hiding her face gloopy alien looking pics 😂. Glad yours was so good!

CoalCraft · 27/06/2022 21:50

The sonography saw hair at my growth scan at 28 weeks, do expecting baby has proper locks by now! DD1 had a lot of hair at birth too. No real issues with heartburn here!

Got a full on day tomorrow. Getting a filling replaced in the morning (dread), then have my second growth scan, a consultant appointment and a midwife appointment spread over the afternoon. Joy!

ToCaden · 27/06/2022 21:56

@CoalCraft wow that is a busy day.

Do you know if anything about dentist appointments change during pregnancy? I've heard a few stories of dentists refusing to treat certain teeth until the person is no longer pregnant, so wondered whether there are things in dentistry too dangerous to do on a pregnant person?

Unknown6 · 27/06/2022 22:29

@CoalCraft dentist will only do temporary fillings until baby is here, my filling literally fell out of my mouth!

CoalCraft · 28/06/2022 05:59

@ToCaden @Unknown6 As far as I know I'm getting a full filling replacement! It's only a local anaesthetic so I guess there's nothing that reaches baby. The only thing they seem reluctant to do is x-rays. The filling isn't urgent; the dentist just noticed it was slightly loose at my last appointment and suggested I get it done while pregnant as it'll be free (NHS dentist).

I hope it isn't going to be replaced just by a temporary one - that'd be a lot of fuss for no reason since the existing one is doing fine for now! I will double check though.

Delight12 · 28/06/2022 06:38

I'm so excited, got a phone call last night my baby girl made her last stop on her hospital tour and is now in the hospital closest to home. Won't be long until I can finally take her home I'm hoping in the next few weeks.

Isonthecase · 28/06/2022 07:35

Fabulous news @Delight12 , amazing that she's likely to be home before her due date 🥳

Mufflette · 28/06/2022 07:55

Lovely news @Delight12 and well done baby girl! How amazing to be able to finally plan for bringing her home 😍

ToCaden · 28/06/2022 08:32

@Delight12 yay. She'll be home with you soon!

ToCaden · 28/06/2022 08:35

@CoalCraft you can also get free dental under nhs foŕ 12 months after baby is born.

Cakecakecheese · 28/06/2022 08:43

@Delight12 great news!

CoalCraft · 28/06/2022 11:40

@Delight12 Great to hear!

@ToCaden Indeed! But I figured might as well get it out of the way before I have (another) little one tagging along.

Anyway, can confirm it was a full filling! Much less uncomfortable than I remember too, which is nice. Now I just have to deal with the numb mouth...

beckybloomwood11 · 28/06/2022 11:54

@Delight12 great news!

madeleine85 · 28/06/2022 15:43

@Delight12 that is just lovely news! Congratulations :)

Beth262 · 28/06/2022 19:25

That's fantastic news @Delight12 so happy for you!

Growth scan went well today. Little girl apparently weighs 4 lbs 6 oz, which is bang on average and bigger than her sister was at birth!

Poor mite had hiccups throughout though, could see her whole ribcage convulse with each one! Made things tricky for the sonographer too, but she got all the measurements she needed in the end.

madeleine85 · 28/06/2022 21:37

@CoalCraft that is so nice to hear! It is really weird hitting those milestones with a previous premie, but really great. I'm 31 weeks and right around now, my DD started trying to arrive (mucus plug came out and contractions started), I have another week till my scan to see how he is holding up in there. So happy for you to be getting good news! I think mine turned head down (maybe). I'm feeling even less than normal, and I didn't feel much before. Definitely had some flutters in my ribcage today, so maybe he is settling in. Still haven't packed a hospital bag... I think I'm in denial now!

Beth262 · 28/06/2022 21:59

@CoalCraft that's great news that she's already apparently bigger than her sister at birth. You've got to be coming up to the gestation that your DD was born aren't you? You must be so nervous right around now.

@madeleine85 here's hoping yours doesn't follow in his sister's footsteps. You must be nervous at the moment approaching your premie date too.

OP posts:
madeleine85 · 29/06/2022 01:01

@Beth262 how are you doing? Is yours still staying put? Hope so! It is weird now being so close to that date from last time, but somehow it feels like this one will be so far away/i'm utterly deluded. Hopefully next week's scan will at least put some indicators out there either way.

CoalCraft · 29/06/2022 06:45

@madeleine85 @Beth262it's a pretty strange feeling isn't it! Sunday will be the big milestone day as I'll be 33+1, the gestation that DD1 was born at. Most of the time I'm honestly not too nervous as by this time with DD1 I'd been having constant regular contractions for months (literally), and it's been so, so much better this time around, so I'm genuinely feeling optimistic that I'll go a lot longer this time, though I do still panic if it get one or two Braxton Hicks or a weird twinge on my back.

Madeleine, a week can feel so long, can't it? Hope your scan goes well next time and little man really is head down. And pack that hospital bag! The earlier you do it the more time you've got to think "Crap, I forgot xxxx!" and stuff it in 😁

Beth, you're doing amazing! You must be well past your DS's gestation by now? Must not be long until that mythical 37 week threshold?? Really hope you're keeping well.
