PopGoesBang · 20/06/2022 17:05

I've told dp I want a nice cool ora he juice as soon as I don't have to worry about testing blood sugars, followed by a nice slice of cake to celebrate and nice white bread toasted with oodles of butter on! I mean simple things really. And then all the roast potatoes. I love a roast and Altho still been having them having to limit potatoes has been a hard point.
It's all worth it... 33weeks+1 so at some point I'll realise in 3 and a bit weeks I might well have a date for induction and that will make it all that but more real... and I can start worrying about labour 🤣

Beth262 · 20/06/2022 17:29

Ooh @madeleine85 love a trashy beach read! 😄

Anyone else's babies become ten times pointier lately? I'm not sure if it's because he's breech so managing to really swing his little feet or knees into my sides, but ouch.

He also keeps wedging himself under my ribs. I was shifting all over my office chair this afternoon trying to get some relief. Trying some peculiar looking exercises to get him to turn, but no luck yet.

I haven't finished his room so would like him to stay put longer, but yes, am feeling the discomfort here.

CoalCraft · 20/06/2022 19:15

@ToCaden I've definitely had a few more painful wiggles from little one recently. She's head down so most of her kicks go up to the top of my bump and make it wobble, but occasionally I get one to the ribs. Her worst habit though is punching my pelvis. Ouch!

beckybloomwood11 · 20/06/2022 19:30

@CoalCraft you've described exactly how I'm feeling about the 30-34 week period. I don't feel ready for her to be here, but also feel so over being pregnant and it feels like there's still so long (hopefully) to go!

squatternutbosh12 · 20/06/2022 22:51

I am definitely feeling this 30-34 tough spot too!! I miss eating normal meals, been put on an incredibly boring low residue beige almost-liquid diet - I just want meat and chips and vegetables and fruit and all the chocolate cake! But to be fair the diet is helping with the vomiting so I guess it’s worth it.

am also with you on the painful wriggles front- I’m another one getting the rib kicking/punching treatment and he’s also wreaking all kinds of bladder havoc and I think I’m getting Braxton hicks which aren’t painful per se but I would say they are bloody uncomfortable?! I feel them really low down though anyone else?

In more positive news I had 32 week growth scan today and was so relieved baby is 50th centile for weight - 4lbs 8oz! So despite me eating like a fussy toddler/sparrow and vomiting most of it he is somehow getting what he needs I guess. :) aren’t placentas amazing!

I also got a form to fill in about my c section choices- if I want my own music or aromatherapy or for them to let the baby wiggle its own way out of the incision and whether I want to watch! (I definitely do lol)
so that’s exciting and something to ponder.

also who was it that said they have a milk craving/obsession because snap- I cannot get enough of the stuff 🤣

squatternutbosh12 · 20/06/2022 23:09

Gosh that was quite the brain dump of type-diarrhoea wasn’t it - my apologies 😂

my brain feels a bit all over the place at the moment, hormones?! Like sort of constantly a bit on edge and hyperactive thoughts but very, very tired… I also cried at watching Freaky Friday this evening so there’s that 😬

also, wanted to say I’m glad those of you who have had your own Mum-health stresses are seeing good recoveries! And that the babies making tightenings/threatening to come early are staying put and behaving :)

madeleine85 · 21/06/2022 00:15

@squatternutbosh12 brain dumps are welcomed here :). I'm pretty sure i've had braxton hicks the last few weeks. I've noticed I get a little uncomfortable, and my belly suddenly goes hard. I definitely feel it around my lower area, under my bump. I had contractions too a few weeks back, linked to dairy intake and lactose intolerance, and there was a definite difference, where I felt the contractions come and go, repeatedly, it felt like labour, I had lower back pain etc. The BH are just there and go. I tend to get them if I am either dehydrated or over hydrated and need to pee but haven't gone. And as I am useless at finding the middle ground, this happens way too often! Your beige diet comment made me laugh, but so soon you will have that generous slice of cake, and toast with all the fatty butter you want. Has anyone noticed that if chocolate made them sleepy/sick in the first trimester, it went away in the second, but is now back in the third? I am generally feeling though like any time after I eat a real meal, I crash 30 minutes after while digesting. 8 weeks. 8 long weeks :)

starkid · 21/06/2022 15:47

Are your braxton hicks right across your tummy or small parts? My tummy goes tense a few times a day but I assumed it was the baby? This was my first so I could be totally wrong.

I am 34 weeks today. I was umming and ahhing about whether to have an ELCS or a vaginal birth but have finally (sort of) made a decision to go for vaginal. I hope I have made the right decision!

I am meant to be having an outdoor festival themed baby shower this Sunday at a local park but the weather is not looking good. Nightmare.

madeleine85 · 21/06/2022 17:41

@starkid congratulations on the twins!

@SquigsC I was truly rubbish at feeling any BH or contractions in my first because I just didn't know what each one was until i'd gone through labour. My whole bump goes hard for a few seconds with the BH this time, and I feel a little discomfort under my belly region. It is different to when he is just sitting weird and I can feel him to the outside. Not sure if that is what everyone else experiences though. 34 weeks is so exciting and close! To each their own with birthing plans, but I did a regular delivery last time, no C section, and it was fast and fairly easy, i'd recommend it. I am relieved to see that that method was usef for your first, the chances are in the 90% upwards that your second will go the same, so that is a little reassuring to me. It is such a clusterf*ck where you have little control over what happens, so I cling to every part that might allow me any control over how this is going to go. If natural is your plan, i'd recommend that you get a peri bottle for rinsing after you pee, and some witch hazel pads for the healing process first few days. Must be beginning to feel real for you now!

makingabebe · 22/06/2022 04:10

It's really nice catching up on the thread and seeing how similar symptoms/cravings are. I actually had my first slice of cake in a few months at a wedding over the weekend, which did mean my blood sugar level went up the next morning but that's been the only high reading for a few weeks so I was hoping the diabetes team at the hospital would forgive me.

Sadly, the wedding has turned out to be a super-spreader of covid, husband tested positive yesterday and I've just tested positive today. Baby is moving fine as normal, thankfully, and I'm triple-vaxxed (last jab in December though) but it's still a shock to be ill and having a really, REALLY sore throat on top of already-shortness of breath is crap and worrying. Have ordered an oximeter and will call maternity unit tomorrow. I'm 33 weeks and had loads of stuff planned this week and next to start to wrap up at work, and we'd planned to finish the nursery this weekend. I HATE being ill and am worried about baby but from my Googling I'm hoping I'll feel better in a week or so. I know I don't know any of you but please send good vibes for baby!

starkid · 22/06/2022 07:31

@makingabebe aw no poor you! Dreadful timing when you want to be cracking on. Fingers crossed it is mild and over with quickly for you.

Celyn22 · 22/06/2022 10:31

@makingabebe aww try not to worry yourself too much. Just do all the things you know will help... hibiscus tea, vitamin C, zinc, vitamin D, chaga. These are all pregnancy-safe. My sympathies are with you as it's a struggle not being able to do the things you want anyway, let alone feeling really physically crap on top of that!

I had covid earlier in the pregnancy and all was/is fine, and I've heard of many other women having covid and their babies being healthy. Just throwing that in to balance your google searches! Wink

Sending love, hugs and support FlowersCake

Isonthecase · 22/06/2022 11:28

Agreed, most of us on here have had COVID at some point in pregnancy and it's not pleasant but generally absolutely fine. Hope you feel better soon 🙂

Cakecakecheese · 22/06/2022 16:30

I had a growth scan today. He's measuring around where he should for 32 weeks but in the 33rd percentile whereas he was in the 93rd at 20 weeks. The consultant did say that it's a long gap between the two scans so you can't really tell much from that and I'll have another scan in 2 weeks.

He's moved from transverse to head down so that's good.

Mufflette · 22/06/2022 17:11

Growth scan for me today too, essentially because I saw a different midwife who measured me differently so it looked like growth had slowed, happily the scan showed it hadn't but it shows how arbitrary the manual measurements can be! It was good to see baby again and have the extra checks though, so £4.20 in parking well spent.

I feel like I was really unprepared for the admin/time drain of pregnancy! As well as the scan and midwife appointment I've also had a health visitor visit so have had something taking me away from work every day so far this week. I suppose it's good preparation for juggling work with an actual baby... but it is making me really count down to going on mat leave!

@starkid so lovely to know the date you'll actually meet your babies! It must be very exciting to have it booked in.

@makingabebe hope you're feeling OK. Don't try to push yourself until you really are better. I sympathise with the sore throat, I sat in bed with a pot of honey and a spoon when I had Covid (and those Ricola sweets were good). On the plus side, hopefully our babies will have lots of nice antibodies by the time they arrive!

madeleine85 · 22/06/2022 17:30

@makingabebe hope you are recovered ASAP, damn covid!

@Cakecakecheese that is exciting that he is in position, not long to go now at all. @Mufflette your are so right that growth scans are so hit/miss. I think at 32 weeks with my DD I was somewhere in the low 20% area, so 33% sounds good to be honest. I feel like all I do right now is pay parking for doctors visits. I have a growth scan in 2 weeks followed by the doctors general checkup the next day, so that will be a double week. Thank god my employer couldn't care less!

Jealous that you know the exact date!

starkid · 22/06/2022 18:29

I had a growth scan (well, I'm always having scans haha) on Monday and my 2 at 28 weeks were in the 45th and 63rd percentiles, measuring 2 lb 11 and 2 lb 13. They were similar percentiles at 24 weeks too, so that's reassuring that they're ticking along normally. Twin1 has always been head down but naughty Twin2 is transverse, he did a u-turn between my last 2 scans but was transverse in both!

Isonthecase · 22/06/2022 18:59

@Mufflette it's like a full time job! Gets worse in the last few weeks, I'm sure I had an appointment virtually every day. Just wish the hospital did some kind of loyalty card 😂

Tacoboutit · 22/06/2022 20:34

I’m booked in for an elective c section on 28th July. Feel a bit of a fraud sticking around the August thread but I can’t bear to leave it! Original due date was 4th August. 5 weeks tomorrow (maximum) until I meet babyTaco! I’ve been going for growth scans too and baby was in 50th centile, then up to 80th for 2 scans, and back down to 50th last week. I think they’re quite hit and miss. And to the lady with Covid, hope you recover soon and on the plus side, your baby is getting the precious antibodies to build their little immune system.

makingabebe · 22/06/2022 21:10

Thank you everyone, I did go to the hospital today because they were worried about my heart rate being too high but after a couple of hours of monitoring they were satisfied that baby and I were basically ok (oxygen all ok), I just need to keep checking my heart and oxygen. I am coughing so hard that I've thrown up a couple of times, grim, but feel much better knowing baby is ok and that others have been through this!

ToCaden · 22/06/2022 21:23

@Tacoboutit ooo... I wonder if you'll have the second baby in this thread. Crazy to think we're nearly in July and it's likely a proportion of our babies will be arriving in that month.

Hope everyone is coping with the heat. I smile whenever I hear it's going to rain, looking forward to the temperatures dropping a bit. Really hope we don't have too much heat before the babies come, though luckily for me baby isn't as wedged into my ribs as last really hot day so doing a tiny bit better with the weather. The combo of not being able to breathe and being too hot was not nice.

I finally had a gap of a couple weeks between appointments after a flurry of them, but it seems like little annoying things pop up to fill the time. Plus the heat sapping my energy. I had envisioned making major progress getting the upstairs sorted.
