I've got a horrible illness. Couldn't sleep all night because I've got a fever complete with cold sweats and shivers. I've just been sick as well. I feel pretty hideous!

Peauela · 14/04/2022 09:02

@Celyn22 we had NIPT done so we know it's a girl!

annlee3817 · 14/04/2022 11:56

@Redapple21 for us it was the opposite, with my first we found out at an early private scan, so didn't ask or mention it at our twenty week scan and either did they. Then with this one again, she wouldn't have shown us had we not jokingly said "maybe we should ask for the sex to be confirmed even though we know by our NIPT test" so she confirmed it. She did go down to that area before that, but I'd have had no idea what we were looking at, they are down that way to measure the femur length.

annlee3817 · 14/04/2022 11:58

@TotoAnnihiliation sorry you're so poorly, hope you're able to rest plenty

annlee3817 · 14/04/2022 11:59

Welcome @lunarshatters and @YanaBanana

Re the tiredness, everyone is different, in my first pregnancy I could have slept happily all the time, this time I've not really felt tired

annlee3817 · 14/04/2022 12:01

@Peauela hope the scan goes well

IzzyLeigh · 14/04/2022 12:42

Welcome @lunarshatters and @yanabanana!

@Peauela congrats on feeling movements! I thiiiiinkkkk maybe I felt some yesterday morning too but I could be wrong. Fingers crossed that’s what they were though! Good luck on your scan Flowers

@totoannihiliation I’m sorry you aren’t feeling well again Sad I hope it resolves quickly.

Is anyone getting proper cravings? I haven’t had any yet. Well, at least not in the way I thought cravings would be based off of how they are portrayed in movies and stuff. There are certainly foods I’m more into than usual, some that are a little different than what I’d normally be interested in, but I’m not having any feelings of needing something so badly that I’d make my husband run out to the store to get it at that very moment. It’s more of a thing where I would prefer to have something, but I don’t actually feel like I absolutely NEED it and have to have it—if that makes any sense. Are cravings just exaggerated in movies or have I just not gotten them yet?

@IzzyLeigh I know what you mean! It's a v random example but I always think of Lady and the Tramp when the woman makes her husband go out for chop suey. I was fully expecting to have a massive craving for Chinese based on that 😂

My cravings have been fleeting and changeable. I was really into pickled onions right at the start, then went through a potato phase but I think that was mainly due to nausea. I've also craved proper beef burgers, Tangfastics and cinnamon bagels with banana. But to be honest I'm not sure if it's all just in my head 😂

IzzyLeigh · 14/04/2022 12:56

@HaresHoping yes, exactly! I feel like I've been going though these phases of being more interested in certain foods (melons, apples, pickled beets, etc.), but not exactly CRAVING them. It's more just like I get on a kick for a little while and then get bored and move onto the next thing.
I just keep waiting for food tunnel vision, but it hasn't happened yet. It's stupid, but I do kind of want that storied craving experience of wanting something really weird like pickles and ice cream or something! The kind of craving where it's like you NEED it or you will burn the world down haha

HaresHoping · 14/04/2022 13:08

@IzzyLeigh haha totally! I know exactly what you mean. I've not really had many symptoms tbh and I think something like that would be so reassuring. And also a really good story to tell the baby when they arrive! I've heard in some rare cases people crave soap and charcoal. Yuck hahaha

annlee3817 · 14/04/2022 13:14

@IzzyLeigh I quite enjoy a bowl of Cheerios of an evening at the moment, but don't miss them if they're not there. Last pregnancy I really enjoyed strawberries, but again wasn't fussed if we didn't have any. I do think they are exaggerated in the movies, but that's not to say that some people don't have stronger urges.

PrettyTulip · 14/04/2022 13:14

@Redapple21 I'm with you, I don't wish to find out the sex either 😊

ShiningStarz · 14/04/2022 13:19

@Redapple21 and @PrettyTulip I'll not be finding out the sex either!! For me it's not really a baby until it's born. Also finding out the sex is the only surprise !!!

PrettyTulip · 14/04/2022 14:26

@ShiningStarz exactly! Excited to find out at birth 😬😬

TotoAnnihiliation · 14/04/2022 16:11

Oh no - I've got covid 😭 I'm waiting for my doctor to call me back to see if there is anything I can have to help me.

stimpyyouidiot · 14/04/2022 16:38

@IzzyLeigh I went from craving sweet potato to craving pizza. But like, old style Pizza Hut pizza. Not the new fancy stuff. All I can think about is pizza hahahha

stimpyyouidiot · 14/04/2022 16:38

Ahh no @TotoAnnihiliation - rest up!

HaresHoping · 14/04/2022 16:53

Sorry to hear that @TotoAnnihiliation 😫 hope you feel lots better soon x

TotoAnnihiliation · 14/04/2022 16:57

Thanks for the sympathy @HaresHoping and @stimpyyouidiot. The doctor has called and said all I can have is paracetamol.

I know a few of us have had covid this pregnancy- can you talk me through your symptoms? At the moment, I'm incredibly feverish and achey.

stimpyyouidiot · 14/04/2022 17:22

@TotoAnnihiliation I was mostly tired and had cold symptoms. Paracetamol every 4 hours and lots of drinks x

PrettyTulip · 14/04/2022 17:35

@TotoAnnihiliation I've just come out of the other end with covid. I basically had really bad cold symptoms.

Midwives advised me to take paracetamol, and make sure I was well rested and hydrated. They also advised me to have honey & lemon (hot) to soothe and that lozenges were safe to have for a sore throat too x (luckily I didn't end up needing to take any cos I was over the worst of it by the time the midwives called..)

Amazing what our bodies can do!

madeleine85 · 14/04/2022 18:13

@TotoAnnihiliation oh no!! I saw your post this morning and though “I hope it’s not covid”. Please rest up and drink a ton of water/take care of yourself.

@IzzyLeigh both times I’ve had a hankering for fruit and general aversions to random foods. Glad this time I’m ok with veggies/salad. The week I went into labour last time I had real cravings “I must have oranges right now or the world will end” type feelings 😂. Maybe my body was worried about scurvy lol.

SoOverThisCrap · 14/04/2022 18:17

@TotoAnnihiliation I hope you feel better soon 😊

amorningperson · 14/04/2022 18:48

So interesting to hear about everyone’s cravings 😂 I feel like if I’m hungry I get very focused on eating so I’ll get in and instantly start cooking. First trimester I looooved dark green salads with loads of salt and lemon and olive oil which was good, then pesto pasta (less good). I really like crisps in a M and S sandwhich too, and olives. Haven’t had any really food aversions but things taste better or worse.

annlee3817 · 14/04/2022 18:50

@TotoAnnihiliation sorry you've got covid, I'm just on the other side of it now, no fever, but my DH had chills, I just had cold symptoms and felt utterly exhausted. DD had a 48 hour fever and diarrhea.

Lots of fluids, I was assigned a covid midwife who rang every few days to check on me
