I think I have felt flutters! Only 14 weeks! Is that possible?!

nicc1000 · 22/03/2022 17:10

Well we've had the results I dreaded -NIPT came back high risk for Downs Syndrome. From reading, this pretty much equates to a diagnosis as the chances of a false positive seem very small. I am just devastated and feel like my world has ended. Almost 16 weeks and have tried for over 4 years for this baby and been fighting diabetes since 5 weeks. I know I'm so lucky to have 2 boys already but just so wanted and envisaged 3. It's what our future looks like to me and it's so hard to get over that. At my age it's our last chance. I go for amnio on Thursday for confirmation.

stimpyyouidiot · 22/03/2022 17:25

@nicc1000 I'm sorry to hear that. It's such a worry isn't it, the uncertainty. Try to sit with it for a while and see if things feel a bit less shitty when you've had some time.

Have you seen a lady called 'downsideup' on Instagram? She wrote a piece in a birth book I've got and she sounds like she would be a good person to look at. She runs a blog and often has guests on it as well.

PrettyTulip · 22/03/2022 17:28

😊

madeleine85 · 22/03/2022 17:32

Oh wow @nicc1000 I am so so sorry that you are having to go through the emotional heartache with this decision. I hope that the amnio works for you and you will know for certain soon. I remember bringing up this possibility on the FB group and someone very nicely commented that they have a family friend who tested low risk and had a downs baby, and honestly it has been a great experience, and the whole family is more bonded, and the two older kids more protective and sweet about it. Obviously it is your decision to make, and I know that I would really struggle as by 16 weeks I feel bonded to the baby by now... so i'm sending you a big virtual hug and hopes that everything works out for you x

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 22/03/2022 17:50

@nicc1000 thinking of you

Jourdain11 · 22/03/2022 18:10

Hiya, do you mind if I join? I'm actually due 1 October, but my others were all early. So I'm willing to bet that this one is going to be a September baby!

This is my surprise #4. I have a 9 year old DD, 8 year old DD and 6 year old DS. This will be a very unplanned sibling for them!

I'm debating when to tell work as I've suddenly got a bump and I caught a colleague peering at me suspiciously today Wink Also, have any of you found that the constant urge to pee goes away in the 2nd tri? I can't remember it being this bad before so I'm hoping for improvements...!

stimpyyouidiot · 22/03/2022 18:13

Hey @Jourdain11 ! My urge to pee has got a lot better now I'm 16 weeks :)

IzzyLeigh · 22/03/2022 18:17

@Belle2210, living near the border would be nice if it weren’t for covid. My husband and I moved back here from Nashville in September 2020 and so the borders have been closed for most of the time we’ve been back. It’s been a real bummer, especially since the Canadian side of Niagara Falls is waaaaay better than the American side and we live so close to it. I’d love to just go to the Canadian side to hang out on a whim. I think the borders are back open now but it’s a whole expensive thing to head over there, what with all the testing at designated places and such.
Very jealous of you in Scotland though! I visited Edinburgh in the spring of 2019 and absolutely adored that city. Took a train there from Manchester (took the trip there from here to see Spice Girls haha) and the ride and all the scenery was just so lovely. Would love to go back that way once the world calms down a bit
Lastly, so glad your results came in! congrats!

@nicc1000 I’m so sorry to hear about the NIPT. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling. Is there a chance that the amnio results could come back fine even though the others were high risk? Regardless of what they are, please know that we’re here for you and will be thinking of you, especially on Thursday.

Welcome @Jourdain11! I can’t speak to the second tri as I’m not there yet (13w 3d), but I’m really hoping you get some positive answers to that question as I’m very much in the same boat. Having to pee literally every hour, if not more. It’s especially bad at night too! Awful!

@IzzyLeigh @stimpyyouidiot Thanks for the welcomes! I am also crossing all my fingers and toes (er, and my legs) that this particular pregnancy symptom will let up. I got diagnosed with bladder inflammation and scarring previously, which basically means I have bladder pain and urgency all the time. So this hasn't been great!

I've suffered with bladder troubles too. It was made worse in my first pregnancy. It was awful because there was no support available due to the pregnancy. I ended up having some stents put into my urethra that made things better once my daughter was a bit older.

Sorry, I can see a faint line 🥺
Whatelsecouldibecalled · 22/03/2022 19:24

Brilliant. Confused

annlee3817 · 22/03/2022 21:11

@nicc1000 sorry, glad you haven't got to wait too long for the amino, did they say how long the results would take?

@jourdain11 welcome to the group, urge to pee has only just started getting less for me at 17 weeks

@Whatelsecouldibecalled I can see a faint line, but hopefully it's not a positive

Goodgoodthings · 23/03/2022 06:27

@Whatelsecouldibecalled positive over here as well 😩 feeling like total shite this morning, how are you doing?

annlee3817 · 23/03/2022 06:53

@Goodgoodthings sorry you've tested positive, hope you feel better soon

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 23/03/2022 07:31

Blaring positive this morning. Feel a bit flu like. Headache but other than that ok.

Hoping it passes quickly!

Carebear99 · 23/03/2022 08:12

No flutters or bump yet, I'm 15+5. I'm going for a private scan today to check everything

Tinadecember · 23/03/2022 08:37

@nicc1000 sending you virtual hugs, I hope that the amnio brings the answers that you and your family are looking for, I can only imagine the worry you are going through.

I had my 15 week midwife appt yesterday, didn't check for heartbeat but said my blood pressure is low.

15 weeks today!!! Due date of 14th Sept, any due date buddies on here?
5 more weeks to go and we are half baked. Like most of you, I haven't felt any flutters yet either but I think I was about 18 weeks along with my daughter.

IzzyLeigh · 23/03/2022 11:29

feel better @Whatelsecouldibecalled!

Hi All,
Have been very quietly lurking on here that past 9 weeks, however we finally had our 12 week scan last week and everything looking good so far with a due date of 25th September (3 days ahead of what I thought based on ovulation sticks). It’s been so reassuring reading everyone’s post over the last 2 months and knowing I wasn’t alone in the symptoms I was experiencing and also lovely to see everyone’s scans and positive updates! Now just looking forward to the next trimester and feeling more normal / starting to look pregnant! Does anyone feel like they are desperately counting down until there is a bump and movement? I feel like the last 9 weeks was all focussed on getting to 12 weeks and now this has become my next milestone….so impatient! 😂

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 23/03/2022 12:34

Midwife's have sent out a pulse oximeter. My legs are aching like mad!!
