@HelenHomebird I just met my manager privately and said I have some news, I'm pregnant! There's nothing they can say and they need to be careful what they do say! Especially in the UK anyways! There are so many rules and laws protecting pregnant women

surprised12 · 25/03/2022 07:45
@surprised12 I can really relate to all those feelings. How far along are you? I do remember things really easing in the second trimester for me last time. I was able to stay up beyond 8/9pm again and felt like I had much more energy and was so appreciative of it. I think the hormones calm down a bit. And then you get a nice bump and start to feel movement, which is all really exciting!
I'm 18 weeks!! I thought it would be much easier by now, my body feel like it's running on empty :(

Peauela · 25/03/2022 08:01

@PrettyTulip I already got a date for my 20 week scan some two weeks ago, it's for the 13th May :)

@HelenHomebird I just went in to my boss and told her straight on that I'm pregnant. I chose to tell my female boss tho, they are married anyway so he found out from her 😂 she has 4 kids herself, she was really happy for me and now they both check on me and make sure I'm ok. I have an office job so planning to work as long as I can though and they know it.

Remember it's your precious baby you're talking about! Don't be nervous, it's a normal state of events, most women eventually ant to start families and your employers can't do anything about it!

@Carebear99 I think laugh is still better than him being angry 😂 but also a bit inappropriate😂

Carebear99 · 25/03/2022 08:13

@Peauela totally agree. He kept justification laughing too. He said when I wanted to talk to him that he thought I was leaving

He kept laughing I mean (I think I meant to say really laughing)

Morning 😁😁

Anyone else getting days of absolute thudding through veins excitement? 😂 It's honestly like when I seen the old video advert for Disney World in Florida as a kid and the family were all speaking about going one day or the morning of my wedding 😂. Closest things to how I'm feeling 😁😁😁😁. Obviously anything could happen but I'm just going to enjoy every second.

I do dare to say that at just over 16 weeks my morning sickness has finally done one 🤞 3rd day of no sickness and not much nausea.

@HelenHomebird I told work really early as I had a bloodclot scare so was off for a scan etc. Just told my direct manager. She was fine about it although I was a bit worried as I'd only started in Sept.

@Whatelsecouldibecalled Wow can't believe your boss asked that straight off 🙈. Hope you're feeling better 💕.

@surprised12 Maybe be worth asking your midwife to do a blood sample just to check for deficiencies if you haven't had one since 12 weeks?

HelenHomebird · 25/03/2022 09:36

@whatelsecouldibecalled

So sorry, I've only just read your message from last night. That's awful!! I hope they've been a bit more empathetic since.

Thank you for everyone's responses. Really appreciate them. I think I'm going to rip off the plaster and let my manager know ASAP so I'm not stressing about something that might be a happy meeting.

SoOverThisCrap · 25/03/2022 09:48

@HelenHomebird I told my boss when I was about 6 weeks due to really bad morning sickness which prevented me from going into the office. I've had three pregnancies since I've been with the company which have all resulted in losses, including twins last year, so they know my pregnancy history anyway and have therefore been extra supportive.
Like you say, just let your boss know and then it's done 😊

annlee3817 · 25/03/2022 09:51

@PrettyTulip we had to go to the desk and boom our twenty week after we had the 12 week scan.

@HelenHomebird I told my boss at 6/7 weeks as I was feeling so sick, I've still not really shared it much wider at work, almost 18 weeks, have told a few people, but no announcement, they'll notice though, can't be bothered with the big scarves now

PrettyTulip · 25/03/2022 09:55

@annlee3817 they told me at my 12w scan that they'd book the 20w scan and I'll get my letter in the post. Not sure how long I should be waiting as I got my 12w scan date through a couple of days after I spoke to the midwife x

GlitteryGreen · 25/03/2022 10:54

@Whatelsecouldibecalled Hope you're feeling better this morning!

@HelenHomebird I am absolutely dreading telling my boss as she has just been through a late loss herself :( I am holding off as long as possible but will need to do it before mid-May at the very latest. No clue what to say at all. Luckily we wfh 100% so will be done by email, but still completely dreading it.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 25/03/2022 11:38

@GlitteryGreen unfortunately not. I feel worse even. Bloody awful

Carebear99 · 25/03/2022 13:24

@PrettyTulip I was told the same but almost 2 weeks later the 20w scan never came. I called them and they said that 12w scans on the 25th Feb had not been booked for the 20w scan as they "forgot" to book those from the 25th in for 20w scans. Might be worth a call.

We got the confirmation of Downs syndrome today. We've spent a lot of time agonising over it and we won't continue and I'm going in for a termination next week. This baby has been desperately wanted for 4 years now and would be loved so much, but we are older so more worried about long term care and don't want to put that burden on our other boys. We are both devastated as this baby felt like a miracle chance for us. I wish you all the best for your babies and please give each one of them an extra baby cuddle from me when they are here. Lots of love

Weddingaug2019 · 25/03/2022 17:17

Hi ladies... had my gender scan today 😊
Can you guess? 😁

madeleine85 · 25/03/2022 17:35

@nicc1000 I am so sorry for what you are having to go through. Sending all the love in the world your way. You are one seriousy strong lady x

madeleine85 · 25/03/2022 17:39

@Whatelsecouldibecalled sorry covid is hitting you so hard. Is your midwife checking in on you/are you getting extra care? Or have you been told to just ride it out? It really feels like cases are rising again. Worried as my husband has an international work trip coming up next trip, and now airlines aren't mandating masks on planes etc. Urgh. Covid.

@HelenHomebird hope it went well! I dreaded telling mine last time, did it at 10 weeks and they were totally fine, but asked me to not tell clients until they had a backup plan in place, which happened the week before I had the baby lol.

@Weddingaug2019 ahh the 4D scans. I had 2 last time and they were both terrifying in my opinion. Not sure if they will do them at the 20 week again as standard in the USA or if I just had good insurance this time. Though my preference would be that they don't because I just saw a weird squished alien in mine! Did they give you the sex? I'm rubbish at guessing

TotoAnnihiliation · 25/03/2022 17:51

@nicc1000 - I am so very sorry. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

GlitteryGreen · 25/03/2022 18:01
