So reassured to hear everyone else is starting to struggle! I’m 32 weeks at the weekend and have been totally shattered this week! This is my 4th baby, but I don’t recall feeling this knackered and achy this early before! I’m also planning to work right up to 38 weeks and now wondering if that was a good plan. Unfortunately I have meetings booked in my diary right to the last day 🙈

I also seem to have every man and his dog telling me how big I am!! Even though I know baby is only measuring on 30th centile as I’ve had several extra scans. I think people forget/ don’t realise how big you can get in the third trimester!

beansprout55 · 06/04/2022 22:11

😂 @RoseValleyRambles! Great. Thanks too @GrowBabyGrow, I'll order ours this week then. Xx

unknownscot · 06/04/2022 22:53

What are peoples experiences with braxton hicks? I think I've been having them today

Turniptracker · 07/04/2022 07:44

@unknownscot literally had my first experience of them last night. Just all the muscles around the belly tightening. I'd had very mild period pains in the morning and then just before bed I could feel the muscle contractions. Not painful though. I joked to hubs what if this was it and he had decided to come 10 weeks early. We'd be so screwed!

MrsTwentyNine · 07/04/2022 07:57

@Octoblockisadick they look really good! How did you find the shein sizing ? I'm a 14/16 (most definitely 16 now haha who am I kidding ) so don't know how to work their XL XXL sizing ...apparently they run small?

MrsTwentyNine · 07/04/2022 07:58

Also another yes to feeling bone tired!! Finishing 25th May , due date 15th June
Part of me wants to finish tomorrow 😫 Why am I struggling even with walking around at work ?! Bubba is big at 80th centile but pretty sure it's down to probably how unfit I am...Blush

Brightsmoke · 07/04/2022 08:01

I've just noticed Amazon are doing Alexas super cheap, not sure if it's all accounts. Really useful if you want a white noise machine in the babies room. Also can control lights to make them dimmable if you get the smart lightbulbs :)

Happy Thursday to all!!

Back from my 28 weeks appointment with GP and I'm pretty upset as Dr measured my belly and bump is very small. He said not to worry as I'm pretty tall and slim, baby is moving a lot and her HB is perfect, and midwife had me booked in for a growth scan in 4 weeks. But I can't help worrying about my baby not growing fine 😭

mrkb · 07/04/2022 10:13

Hi everyone, apologies in advance for a bit of a negative post but is anyone else just not enjoying their pregnancy? I know a few people chatted about this some weeks ago but it just hasn't got better for me! I'm constantly aching, spend a fair portion of the day in physical pain from PGP, wake up constantly in the night to go to the loo and sometimes just can't get back to sleep (case in point - the night before last I was wide awake from 2:30 to 6:30am) so I'm always tired. I'm uncomfortable when she kicks me but I worry loads when she doesn't, and I'm increasingly worried about actually giving birth!

I just want her to be here now so I can stop being pregnant more than anything and then I feel so crap that I'm not enjoying this time! I'm not going on mat leave until my due date (5th June) as I just can't afford to take it earlier as I want a full year off. I guess I'm looking for reassurance that I'm not the only one in this boat, and maybe some advice on how to look past how unpleasant I'm finding the pregnancy part and look forward to the baby part!

@Lostintranslatio

I had the same, at 25 I measured 22cm so was referred for a growth scan. The scan was fine, they said that it's an old school way of measuring and open to human error as to where the tape measure is placed. At 28 weeks I was 26cm and 31 weeks (yesterday) still under at 29. Try not to worry too much 😊 It's more important that you follow the same curve throughout we were told x
EarlGreywithLemon · 07/04/2022 10:31

@Lostintranslatio I had that in my last pregnancy several times. Every time the scan was fine. The first time I was very worried, but the next times I had got used to it and didn't worry. I'm also tall-ish and slim, and also I think she was just in an awkward position.

That said, it's not very thoughtful of the GP to worry you and then leave you waiting for 4 weeks for the scan. Is there any way you can ask the midwife to bring it forward, just for your peace of mind?

Lostintranslatio · 07/04/2022 10:46

@PlodandPod @EarlGreywithLemon thank you for your comments ☺️ When I saw the midwife 4 weeks ago she said that my bump was small but she did not say how much it measured. Today the GP said he was getting a bump of 20cm, which is a big difference, but he did not seem worried at all as he said every person carries different. The midwife booked me the growth scan for 32 weeks not for the bump size but because my BMI was low before pregnancy. I guess my shock has been hearing that bump should be 8cm bigger ( although I suspect that my posture might have affected as I wasn't lying down very comfortably).

Vimto1991 · 07/04/2022 10:49

@PlodandPod yeah I got told the same thing that they should follow the curve. My midwife measured 25 then two weeks later another midwife measured 25, then my original midwife another two weeks later measured 27, she said it’s fine as hers followed a curve, and she’d expect the other midwife to have followed a curve so looks like they can be out which is mildly terrifying lol

Also PGP super bad today. It hurts when I walk which is all I read about, but never see people talking about pain sat down! I tried my office chair the first ten minutes, switched to my yoga ball, now lying in the spare bed. Midwife told me pursuing physio is pointless due to the waiting list - felt like that was just rude but probably truthful. Guess I need to grin and bear it, but it’s making it difficult to work and exercise. 😫

Whatcanmyusernamebe · 07/04/2022 10:54

@mrkb sorry to hear that you aren’t enjoying your pregnancy but just want to reassure you that you are not the only one. I am literally counting down the days. I have hated every single day of this pregnancy - from the constant sickness and nausea to the constant pelvic girdle pain. Have been signed off work for 6 weeks already due to pgp and will not be going back before maternity leave so don’t even have anything to distract me. Literally spend all my time stuck in the house feeling sorry for myself (don’t go out much as pgp is too painful for me to walk/move far). This baby cannot come soon enough. Really wish I could offer advice on how to get over this feeling but hope it helps to know that you aren’t the only one. Pregnancy is supposed to be such a natural, beautiful thing, for so many of us it really isn’t. But just being in this group and reading about other people having difficulty with things has really saved my sanity at times. Just helps to know that I’m not alone. On the bright side we are now on the final stretch and in a matter of weeks we will be holding our beautiful babies in our arms and it really will have all been worth it.

aus12 · 07/04/2022 11:13

@Octoblockisadick did you buy your normal size in Shein? I bought some pyjamas yesterday & it’s the first time I’ve bought anything from there. They aren’t maternity so have sized up as what I’ve bought is hopefully going to be labour/hospital pj’s so will need them to fit in June when I’m bigger than I am now.

Lostintranslatio · 07/04/2022 11:29

@aus12 I bought some maternity tops in shein on my normal prepregnancy size, and they fit good.

mrkb · 07/04/2022 11:37

Thanks @Whatcanmyusernamebe it does help to know I'm not the only one! Sorry your PGP is so bad, I can only imagine the pain you must be in - I was lying on the sofa the other day with such bad pain in my back and I genuinely thought to myself that if this was every day of my life for the rest of my life I wouldn't know what to do. You're right - only around 8 weeks to go now so the end is definitely in sight!

PlodandPod · 07/04/2022 11:40

@Vimto1991 I have back pain which can be quite severe (had it before pregnancy but also now adding pregnancy pains alongside it!) and I have a microwave wheat bag which I put against my lower back when sitting down. It goes in the microwave multiple times a day and definitely helps to relieve the pain a little, may be worth a try?

annie1994 · 07/04/2022 11:41

@mrkb I also feel similar, this pregnancy has been so hard - hyperemesis, prenatal depression and now SPD… it has bloody tested me! And I know this will 100% be my last child, I can’t put myself through this again. I already have a little boy (19mo) and his pregnancy was never as hard as this. The only positive I can say is that there is an end to this and the end is in sight soon. Maybe try and find a hobby that you can do at home - just to distract your mind for a bit xx

Vimto1991 · 07/04/2022 11:49

@PlodandPod think I’ll have to invest, even if I can just plop it onto my hip or groin! I have one for my shoulders which is microwaveable and it works like a dream to be fair!

@mrkb we are almost there now!! You aren’t expected to enjoy every moment. You are pregnant so you can enjoy you are growing a new life and soon have a baby, but you don’t have to enjoy the nasty side affects it gives us!! Less than 10 weeks to go! 🥳

mrkb · 07/04/2022 12:42

@annie1994 @Vimto1991 thanks both :) this is my first - before being pregnant I'd always thought I'd want 2, maybe even 3 children (I'm one of three myself and my husband is one of four) but after this I don't think I could do it again!

EarlGreywithLemon · 07/04/2022 13:13

@Vimto1991 I second heat for back pain - also long term sufferer. BUT - word of warning - when I was suffering badly with back spasms a few years ago, I overdid the heat and gave myself hot water bottle rash en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erythema_ab_igne

It did go away once I stopped, but it took about 6 months - a year to disappear completely. Mind you, I was using heat pretty much constantly for a month or two, so moderation shouldn’t do any harm.

Go onto the pelvic partnership website and they have a list of private osteopaths. The nhs ones are pointless they don’t do manual therapy. I wasted WEEKS and WEEKS on them and in the end went private. It’s fantastic the difference it makes. Hope it gets a bit easier for you. I also find a “puppy pad” works great in bed for turning.
