I am anemic, didn't realise craving ice was a sign though! How weird!!

I'm so fed up of work already. I'm a HR Manager surrounded by 10 other male managers who literally have the mindset of dinosaurs. My role is standalone and I literally have no one to handover/fall back on.

My boss ignored all my calls last week, isn't including me in any conversation, then decides to go on holiday for 10 days without even asking if there's anything I need from him. What a dickhead. Infact I don't even remember the last time he asked how I was Hmm

Lostintranslatio · 04/04/2022 18:17

@Iris26 I'm also due on the 29th June.

Thanks for the Facebook group. I just sent request.

I'm also wiped out but I never got that energy boost after first trimester so kinda used to it now 😂

Flowerbug1994 · 04/04/2022 18:32

@pregnancydiaries it’s so strange to think he’s 4lb !! Could even see on the scan he’s got hair already think I might give birth to one of the Beatles if it grows any longer !

GrowBabyGrow · 04/04/2022 19:02

TMI update on the swollen lips for anyone else experiencing it! Spoke to the midwife today and she said it could be because I'm sitting down most of the day and all the extra fluid etc we carry as pregnant ladies sort of just 'pools' in there. Her tip was to move around more which is easier said than done when most of my work day is spent on Zoom...

Also found out baby is living up to my username and definitely growing. 75% percentile gulp and happily transverse although not due until end of June so have time for her to flip!

Definitely relate to being more emotional. I sobbed at the weekend because the parsnips in the dinner I made were still a bit crunchy and not nice and soft and roasty. Poor husband didn't know whether to comfort me or tell me to get over it because they are only parsnips

Octoblockisadick · 04/04/2022 19:21

@Vimto1991 no braxton hicks here, but very much leaking boobs! They've been leaking watery liquid since about 20 weeks, and by now it's thick yellow colostrum. My midwife has okayed me starting to collect whenever I feel ready, she basically said many women breastfeed throughout pregnancy without issues, and if I was going to go into preterm labour I would regardless. I managed to get 2.5ml the other day which I was very proud of haha.
Leaking or non leaking boobs are no indicating of milk supply once baby is here though, so I wouldn't worry if you aren't leaking but want to breastfeed.

@Prema112 oh I struggled so much doing Friday/ Saturday after a week off! Dreading tomorrow tbh.

@Iris26 you've been busy haha!! Definitely earned a chance to relax now I think

@Flowerbug1994 it's crazy thinking they are around 4lb already isn't it. You've still got time for him to turn 🤞. Maybe Google some positions to be in to help? I didn't realise you could see hair on a scan, that's amazing!

I've also just joined the fb group 😀

PleaseSendNoodles · 04/04/2022 19:51

@Octoblockisadick that’s good to know that it not necessarily a bad thing if they DON’T leak. I was getting paranoid it meant I wouldn’t get any milk in. So thank you!

And YAY for the Facebook group 🙌🏼

Vimto1991 · 04/04/2022 20:10

@Octoblockisadick thank you for the reassurance! I have small boobs as well so anxious nothing was going to happen haha, good to hear you’ve been able to collect collestrum!! That’s so good for the baby 🤩

Just finished the antenatal class and I’m glad it was on teams where the camera was off. Found myself crying so many times 🙈

Octoblockisadick · 04/04/2022 20:37

There's a really good group on fb called "breastfeeding support and information uk" which is ran by trained breastfeeding support people which is so good for information, I joined it a few weeks ago. If I've done it right this is the group link

Octoblockisadick · 04/04/2022 20:39

What made you cry @Vimto1991?
I've been doing the positive birth company that someone (sorry I forgot who!) said about earlier in the thread, I'm really enjoying it.
Not sure if I'll get my husband on board with reading me relaxation scripts and stroking my arms though haha!!

Vimto1991 · 04/04/2022 20:41

@Octoblockisadick just emotional in general, so imagining holding my baby, and then talking about the golden hour with skin to skin 😭 then they played a video where a woman with a newborn was talking about the trust and they gave a tour and I cried again, so never sad/scared tears, just very emotional today haha

EarlGreywithLemon · 04/04/2022 21:11

I must be complaining more than I realised: our two year old daughter thinks the sofa cushion is called “my back hurts”. As in “can I have my back hurts?” Grin

PleaseSendNoodles · 04/04/2022 21:33

@Vimto1991 ah bless you. Watching birth videos is making me cry lately too.

@EarlGreywithLemon hahaha that’s funny. Sorry your back hurts though.

It’s becoming clear I have too much time on my hands. See pic 🤣 but I’m enjoying getting organised so whatever.

Octoblockisadick · 04/04/2022 22:00

@EarlGreywithLemon hahaha that's brilliant 😆.

@PleaseSendNoodles oh you're so organised! I'm going to be doing the same, think little plastic bags instead of elastic bands though.
Definitely 1st outfit will be labelled, it's the same one my daughter wore for her 1st outfit❤

pregnancydiaries · 04/04/2022 22:43

@EarlGreywithLemon 😂😂😂😂

Slings and baby carriers - has anyone got one they like? Or used with a previous baby?

I really like the idea of being able to have my baby snuggled up really close to me or my husband, but I don't know how to choose one!

MrsTwentyNine · 05/04/2022 07:59

@InvisibleDragon was thinking the same! Looked at the Baby Bjorn one everyone talks about but it looks quite fiddly...

mrkb · 05/04/2022 08:08

@MrsTwentyNine @InvisibleDragon we got a baby bjorn one and returned it - took me nearly half an hour to figure out all the straps and a friend said we'd regret not having a back strap for support. We've got a Tula explore now - not a fan of how expensive it was but it was so much easier to understand and very comfy on!

yellowpinkbluegreen · 05/04/2022 08:08

I got given 2 of the soft material ones from friends, they look complicated but I think with practise will be ok haha! They only stay in them for first couple of months so could be worth looking on marketplace or Vinted!

We then ordered a Ergo baby 360 holder - quite pricey but can have them up to 3/4 yrs old so hopefully will get our monies worth !!!

SouthwestSis · 05/04/2022 08:12

We just used a stretchy wrap for the first couple of months around the house and on short walks.
Then got a second-hand ergo baby on fb marketplace, ideal!

Starbeach · 05/04/2022 08:30

I'm torn between the ergobaby and the baby bjorn I live in the countryside so prams will be out of the question most of the time but I need one that's not going to knacker our already knackered backs and one that has room for large boobs as well as baby 🙈

Brightsmoke · 05/04/2022 08:34

@PleaseSendNoodles I didn't leak at all with my first son. Breastfed until 9 months when I started to wean ready for work and he then stopped completely. So definitely nothing to worry about 😊

@Octoblockisadick I've been doing bits of the PBC as well. Husband definitely won't be involved in it 😂. It's a bit too hippy sounding for him

@InvisibleDragon I had a connecta with my son. Can be used from newborn and super comfy. Had a fabric wrap sling and baby bjorn, which I don't think is recommended from birth, but the connecta was always my go to. If you want baby in close and snuggled, I recommend the wrap sling. But do some practicing first 😂

Roxystar23 · 05/04/2022 09:18

Hello Everyone!

Just wondered if anyone had suggestions for where to get sheets for Moses Baskets, Cribs & prams please? I spent a few hours on Amazon yesterday looking at reviews and they managed to turn me off every single product.

Also, is anyone looking into video baby monitors? I seem to be having the same struggle with these too.

Hope all goes well with growth scans this week (there seems to be a few of us having them at the moment) - 81st percentile for mine. I’m not sure what happened - the midwife thought I was measuring close to the 50th percentile only 5 days prior.

InvisibleDragon · 05/04/2022 09:44

@Brightsmoke, @mrkb, @MrsTwentyNine, @Starbeach, @yellowpinkbluegreen, @SouthwestSis Glad I'm not the only one who's a bit confused by all the options!

Thanks for the recommendations. I think a stretchy wrap is probably the way to go to start with - and there are some second hand ones suitable for newborns on marketplace near me, so I'll get one of those and try it out with a cuddly toy.

We can get a sturdier one for the longer term if it works well for us.

destiEos · 05/04/2022 09:56

@Vimto1991 think I might just order all the things, there's always ebay :D

Whoo antenatal class! Face to face was good, but masks lasted about 10 minutes, so crossing fingers for not catching covid - and there was at least one person in the room who'd clearly come from the office :/ I am dying for fake baby opportunity - do we get those?!

Now starting to get worried about my 11th percentile baby :'( Can't wait for next week's scan...

GrowBabyGrow · 05/04/2022 10:04

On slings @InvisibleDragon if you live near a John Lewis that has a baby section highly recommend popping in to try some out. They have a doll that's the same weight as a baby so you can see how they feel with some weight in them. It was so weird, was the first moment when it twigged that this was all really happening because the weight of the doll felt so 'real'!
