I’ve been lurking for a while now and too scared to comment, but decided to face my fears 🙈

Firstly, I’m 14 + 3 weeks pregnant with a due date of the 4th August. I’ve never done this before so everything is completely new territory and absolutely terrifying for me (as well as exciting). I am single and the father of the baby doesn’t want anything to do with it, which sucks but his loss.

I just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself and lil bean.

Also a tiny bit about me, I’m in my mid twenties and live alone with my very beautiful doggo!

Hello!! 💕

Nice to virtually meet you! Good luck to you and your little bean - you can do this!!

It's scary isn't it?? But we are all in the same place x x

squatternutbosh12 · 07/02/2022 00:08

@Lilbean0408 welcome and congrats! We’re calling ours ‘bean’ sometimes too :)
..according to my pregnancy app though apparently it’s a lemon now (13 weeks). Yours would be a peach!!

madeleine85 · 07/02/2022 03:58

@Lilbean0408 congratulations on your little bean and welcome to the group ❤️. Dogs are quite simply the best! I was looking back at photos today of mine with my DD at the start. He was so nervous (rescue dog who doesn’t do well with change) but he was so caring from the start. A little tip is to take a small blanket/onesie to the hospital and keep it beside your baby a few hours, then send it home with someone to your dog, so it adjusts to the scent a little bit, it can’t hurt the transition honestly. Hoping you have the support of some family and friends if you’re doing this alone, though we’re all here virtually to chat when needed. Your little one is already clearly so loved, so it must be a really exciting time x

Beth262 · 07/02/2022 07:43

Congratulations @Lilbean0408 and welcome to the group! I'm 14 weeks today so we're quite close, due the 8th.

How have you found pregnancy so far?
What breed is your beautiful doggo? The blanket tip from @madeleine85 is a good one. I did that with my DS. Also, get him/her used to baby noise by playing some crying sounds as you get closer to your due date, particularly if he/she is not too familiar with tiny humans!

PopGoesBang · 07/02/2022 07:45

Hi @Lilbean0408 congratulations! I was in a very similar position to you with my first. And was on my own with her for 6 years, I can tell you the bond you'll have with them will make every tough day worth it. You've got this.
And having a dog by your side as well - they'll be best friends in no time!

LiMc1 · 07/02/2022 08:50

Thanks for the new thread 😊.

I'm really stressing atm. Woke up with really scratchy throat and achy. Took two lateral flows at 2am and thought they were negative so had some cereal and went to bed again. In the morning there are faint lines. I didn't sit up for 30 mins to check them so I don't know if it's actually positive or not! Arg!
I have booked a PCR for this morning but I'm now worried, has anyone else tested positive in week 13? Is it okay? Should I be concerned?

Beth262 · 07/02/2022 09:15

@LiMc1 I had it 2 weeks or so ago. Tired, headache and generally feeling grotty for a few days. Just took paracetamol to keep any fever at bay, lots of fluid and rest. Had my dating scan a few days after I was out of isolation and all was fine with bubba. Wriggling and kicking about. Just take it easy and you both should be fine x

LMc1 · 07/02/2022 09:20

Hey all, I posted a few times on the original thread but have completely lost track of all convos.
I was due to have my booking appointment today and first scan on Wednesday. I tested positive for covid yesterday and have been told can’t have my booking appointment over the phone.
Going by a private scan I had at 8 weeks, I should be 13 weeks today. I was told quite abruptly by the call handler I will miss out on tests due before 14 weeks as by the time I get first scan I’ll be 15 (all going well). I’m so upset and full of anxiety, everyone wishes to get that first scan and reach that milestone for reassurance and I feel totally abandoned.
I completely understand there hands are tied in terms of covid but there really is no urgency.
Will maybe pay for a private scan before for the reassurance, has anyone had testing done this way instead of NHS?

Cakecakecheese · 07/02/2022 09:32

@LMc1 Oh no, what bad timing! Have you looked online, is it possible to get any of the tests done at home? Like with medichecks?

I'm 13 weeks and today is my scan day. I'm trying to stay calm but I am freaking out a bit.
