@Beth262 I was ment to get it in November but had my little girls birthday and didn't want to be ill with it partner off this weekend so least if I don't feel to great he's here for the kids! X

madeleine85 · 04/02/2022 17:44

10 week 3 day scan went well. I didn’t get a picture, but he was in there moving around and there’s still a good heartbeat so I can breathe a little easier. They used the wrong setting at first on the scan so of course I thought it was gone 😂. Panic slightly eased now!

ToCaden · 04/02/2022 19:27

Hello people. Had my 12 week scan Wednesday and due date moved from 17th August to 13th August. Odd when that happens for an ivf pregnancy as I obviously know exactly when fertilised, etc. Maybe just a longer baby than average?

Scan was great. Baby non stop moving around. On back, on knees, even turned to face the scanner and wave at us.

I'm hoping the nausea is finally dying down, though absolutely exhausted today. Had a long to do list that I barely made a dent in. Hoping to have more luck tomorrow now I'm not feeling like throwing up every second of the day and night.

Flu jab booked for Sunday, and depending on how side affects go will be trying to get my second covid jab next week.

mamaof2girls · 04/02/2022 20:17

@ToCaden I get the flu jab every year and tbh i never ever notice any side effects from it! Apart from a dead arm for a few days just the same as any jag! X

T1mumtobe · 04/02/2022 20:46

Hello all,
I am 12+2 weeks pregnant with my first and finding it so hard! Have wanted a baby for around 10 years but spent most of that trying to get healthy enough to conceive (type one diabetes has been a nightmare to manage and resulted in macular oedema too). So I am very excited (but terrified) about baby but I did not expect pregnancy to be as hard as it is. I'm nauseous 24/7, weak from the lack of adequate nutrition/hydration, and understandably exhausted. I'm starving constantly, but most food and even water will trigger vomiting, and it makes hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar) very difficult to treat. I have read up on HG, it may well be that, and I've been prescribed cyclizine but can't have second-line treatment yet as they feel I need to wait out the peak morning sickness time before trying more expensive drugs. Also feel gross because my skin and hair are greasier than ever (daily showers aren't enough to tackle it but worried if I wash hair more I'll make it worse), I'm bloated... Just generally feeling dreadful and disgusting.

Sorry for the rant, I just did not expect it to be this bad, I am so amazed at how many women seem to cope really well (or even enjoy it in some cases)!

Got my 12 week scan next week, just hope baby is healthy and that the placenta will take over soon so I can hold proper food down!

Beth262 · 04/02/2022 21:34

@mamaof2girls I'd play on it if your partner is off this weekend. Give it the whole 'woe me' and spend the weekend on the sofa!

Glad your scan went well @madeleine85

Welcome @T1mumtobe and congratulations. Feel free to rant away - we're all very sympathetic here! And it will get better!

For all of those on second/third babies, have any of you felt fluttering yet? I've had it happen once or twice the last few days but convinced it can't be movement yet as surely it's too soon at almost 14 weeks? Dr Google tells me it could be possible given this is my second but I don't trust him... it's probably gas! Isn't it?

squatternutbosh12 · 04/02/2022 21:57

@T1mumtobe wow that sounds really tough :( if you’re vomiting a lot despite cyclizine at full dose could you perhaps ask for a second opinion about second line treatment? I don’t think you should be left to suffer particularly if it’s affecting your glucose control. Has this come from an obstetrics team or endocrinology? If the former it might be worth asking your endocrine team for help. I have an endocrine condition too (not diabetes but similarly dangerous if combined with vomiting) and it’s stressful feeling you don’t have the same control of your illness as usual so I feel for you. I’ve felt terrible nausea 24/7 and lots of retching but have only ‘properly’ vomited a few times so have been lucky on that front so far. If I’m unable to keep my usual medication down more than twice it’s into hospital which is a constant worry. Ugh endocrine problems- what a palava! You have my utmost sympathies! Hope you feel better soon. X

madeleine85 · 04/02/2022 22:18

@T1mumtobe please keep pushing your doctor. I know it is hard at the time to make the energy to do it, but ketosis from dehydration is actually pretty dangerous for you and the baby. They have access to much stronger medication and will give it to you if you have a good doctor and you explain how you are feeling. I had HG with my first, and I had to take Zofran from 6 weeks, which really did help. For me, the nausea didn't get better until weeks 14-16, and even then, I had to wean myself off the medication, and any sudden stop attempts and I was throwing up again. It can be slow going, and I am only saying that so you don't expect it to suddenly disappear at 12 weeks, though I hope for you it really does.

@Beth262 I swear I felt a flutter one night this week. Thought I was losing it, but I guess it is possible with it being the second. It actually felt really nice, and I know from the scans and an at home doppler it was where the baby actually "is" so it's possible.

SantiagoSister · 04/02/2022 23:27

@Beth262 I think you could be feeling the first movements! I’m around 14 weeks too, I swore I felt those familiar flutterings at around 11.5 weeks, but then didn’t feel anything more so I dismissed it. But the last few evenings I’ve definitely felt something squiggling around in there, it’s ever so slight but it catches my attention immediately and it’s unlike any normal digestion feelings. I am also sure I felt two tiny little kicks one after the other last night! Felt like two little taps from inside out of nowhere, I really do hope it is baby moving 🥰

KitsuneDream · 05/02/2022 03:28

My morning sickness has eased off since I hit the 11th week mark. What's stressing me out is I started having some red vaginal bleeding upon wiping and some left lower abdominal pains/cramps like as if I will have my period. Without the morning sickness symptoms, it kinda makes you question, "Am I still pregnant?"

Anyway, has anyone had some spotting and some cramping before the 12-week scan and everything was okay?

Thanks Beth for the new thread, by the way! 🤗

madeleine85 · 05/02/2022 05:45

@KitsuneDream are you having your 12 week scan this week? If not, I’d recommend you call the EPU just to put your mind at ease. I think with spotting everyone is different, but if it makes you feel any better, my sister had 2 full periods when pregnant with her second, and the doctors never found out why, but her little one Is a year old now and great. It might be worth checking out to make sure you’re ok x

KitsuneDream · 05/02/2022 06:40

@madeleine85 I actually went to EPAU right away. Waited 3 hours to be seen by the doctor. She did a speculum exam and found old blood but no signs of active bleeding. She can't explain the cause really. She said have some duvet days and wait for my scan on February 9th. Wow, thanks for sharing about your sister, that's really interesting and glad to hear the baby's fine! Thank you!

secretnutter · 05/02/2022 07:57

Hi!! Due 18th August here, had an early private scan at 11 weeks, as had a bleed and hospital weren't interested in seeing me! All looked good thankfully.
I feel enormous already! Third baby so I guess my tummy muscles are stretched already Blush sweat I felt some movement the other night too!
We've not told anyone yet so glad to be able to talk about it somewhere Grin

KitsuneDream · 05/02/2022 08:29

Hi @secretnutter! Glad to hear your scan was good! How long did you have a bleed for? I've been having some bleeding and I am 11+3 weeks. They won't scan me in hospital and told to wait for my 12-week scan which is this Wednesday. I also feel really big now (this is my first pregnancy). I seriously look like I am 20 weeks already.

secretnutter · 05/02/2022 08:38

Hi @KitsuneDream 👋🏻 sorry you're also having a worrisome time, I had a bleed at 10 +1 and it was quite a bit of red then tailing off to brown over 24hrs, I'm still getting the odd few brown bits 2 weeks later, but baby looks fine and at expected size, I had my phone booking appt yesterday and the midwife said it's probably implantation bleeding, taking a while to come out or sensitive cervix, it's still a worry nonetheless but I haven't got my NHS scan until 14 weeks so will have to bury my head in the sand for a little while! Private scan was a huge reassurance and tbh well worth the money, they couldn't see a reason for the bleed and got to see baby was there and heart beating so it's definitely eased my anxiety! Apparently it's really common Confused

KitsuneDream · 05/02/2022 09:14

@secretnutter Thank you for sharing this. It helps me see some light at the end of the tunnel! 🤗 I tried looking for private scans but earliest appointment is not until Friday. So I will try my best to wait patiently for Wednesday.

suze12 · 05/02/2022 09:43

Hi everyone,

Have been lurking for a while but thought I’d bite the bullet and join this morning as I’ve enjoyed reading all of your updates. I’m due on 13th August, first time baby.

Everything has been ok so far and 12 week scan showed a very active baby. I need to have another scan at 16 weeks due a minor condition that I have, so that they can see if the baby may also have it (I’m keeping everything crossed all will be ok).

Maybe a bit TMI but has anyone else experienced cramps/ strange sensation after having sex since being pregnant? We’ve had sex 3-4 times since finding out and I get these odd twinges afterwards. The other day they lasted nearly all day and it really worried me. Google tells me it can happen and it’s nothing to worry about but it was a bit disconcerting and wondered if anyone else had experienced the same? It’s really putting me off having sex as I’m scared it’ll cause a miscarriage. To add- I haven’t had any bleeding or anything during these episodes.

Oh and one last thing, how do people feel about NCT classes? I’ve read mixed opinions but I don’t have much experience of being around babies so feel we might benefit and hope to make some friends for mat leave too. I’ve heard the classes get booked up really far in advance. Has anyone booked yet? I kind of feel that it’s too soon but equally don’t want to miss the opportunity!

Smile
squatternutbosh12 · 06/02/2022 00:44

@suze12 hello welcome and congrats on your scan! Im due 12 Aug so very close :)
I’m afraid I cannot comment on personal experience as I haven’t had sex since ~6 weeks pregnant… once the awful nausea hit it has been a hard nope from me Confused Grin

Agree have heard mixed bag of reviews about nct classes. I haven’t yet… but more through lack of organisation than a decision not to. Though I’m quite an introvert so wondered if I’d actually just find it all a bit much especially when feeling so tired and sick all the time. Maybe later…. Whoops theres my mantra for life Grin

@madeleine85 @Beth262 @SantiagoSister I thought I felt some flutters tonight! Definitely a weird gentle sort of tiny movment somewhere near my bladder that felt ‘different’, but this is my first so it probably is too early for me- maybe I’m just over analysing every bodily sensation!

@KitsuneDream I find it really harsh when they refuse to scan when there’s bleeding/pain. Access to nhs scans seems to vary so much with location too- some refused a scan despite fresh red bleeding/pain and others referred instantly for the smallest amount of brown spotting. It’s unfair! Lots of luck for your scan on Wednesday x

@KitsuneDream I'm so so sorry for your loss, sending you lots of love and hugs xxx

theotherfossilsister · 06/02/2022 09:12

@KitsuneDream what an appalling thing to happen I'm sorry. Please look after yourself. I don't know what else to say except we're here xx

@meepthesheep we both had Covid when I was eight weeks and there was lots of to and froing I've whether to prescribe blood thinners but I didn't get them in the end

I'm meant to be due August 25th with an Ivf baby but they're consistently measuring small. I'm on an injection to control my autoimmune disorders and took it three days late when I had covid as I was advised to get a negative lft before I took it. Planning to take this fortnightly dose three days late too so it's exactly the fortnight but now getting arthritis symptoms and concerned this is going to harm the baby.

Appalling anxiety. A friend who reads tarot said she feared I would suffer a loss. It's making me quite mad. Another friend told me to please not pay attention to her, but it's so hard.

Baby was fine at ten week scan and have a private one booked Thursday at twelve weeks as NHS isn't until 12w6d. I couldn't sleep last night and was thinking of booking one today but I know I'm mad.

firsttimemumca · 06/02/2022 09:17
