My first scan is next Monday too @xana99, think there are a few of us Smile

Which reminds me I need to ring to confirm I'm going!!

Plates2022 · 07/02/2022 20:28

Hi everyone!

Haven't actually posted on here for ages, since posting I've had my scan and due on august 4th.

My stomach is 100% feeling harder, really low down in my pelvis and just above my bikini line - is this where I'm meant to be feeling? Clueless first time mum here if you couldn't guess already 😂 it also feels quite tender when I touch it which according to my app is normal due to the uterus stretching etc - it's crazy what you're not told.

Still having all the usual anxiety that comes with growing a human you are besotted with and cannot wait for the first flutters!

How is everyone else doing? Xx

netflixandnochill · 07/02/2022 21:43

Hope everyone’s ok! Great to read there are new joiners!

I’m 12 weeks today 🤩
One week to go until my Valentine’s dating scan ♥️ and got my harmony results back on Friday - all ok and found out we’re having a girl! 💕

Feel like I’ve been pregnant for years but excited there is light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to being totally open about it! 🙌🏼

BunnieMilk · 07/02/2022 21:53

Hi there I'm new! I'm due early august with twins ☺️

NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc · 08/02/2022 07:28

@OMallytheAlleyCat that's very annoying and definitely a learning curve! Last time I was pregnant had to tell my boss at 8 weeks for medical reasons, I specifically told her to keep it confidential but she told the whole company. This was before I'd had any scans or told any relatives!

For some reason people seem incapable of keeping this type of news to themselves. Our parents are already outside the circle of trust due to blabbing about our planned elopement a few years ago. My problem now is that my scan isn't for another 9 days (and 15 til and harmony scan) and I'm already showing. I will try and avoid everyone I know for the next couple of weeks!

CoalCraft · 08/02/2022 10:56

@NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc That is awful that your boss spread the news Shock I would be fuming. I've had to tell my manager and one other colleague but afaik they've kept it completely to themselves. Family and such are all in the dark so far.

Feeling a bit more positive today. There's been no more bleeding and I've finally reached twelve weeks! And I had another little feel and think I really can feel the uterus now, which has got to be a good sign?

xana99 · 08/02/2022 11:01

@Isonthecase that's exciting, quite a few of us getting a super Valentine's Day present on Monday then! I'm looking forward to the worst of the tiredness easing now I have to say! @madeleine85 my mum said she was an ice cube in pregnancy too, so I think it's just how I am. I'm normally so warm too, it's really strange to be a cold person for once!

theotherfossilsister · 08/02/2022 11:04

@Cakecakecheese

I'm 13+1 going of my IVF dates but was measuring at 13+4. Sonographer said to just stick with my IVF date.

I have told a few people now yes it's so nice to be able to talk bout it!

Ah @Cakecakecheese that's fantastic news xx
NetflixAndSauvignonBlanc · 08/02/2022 12:47

@CoalCraft glad you're feeling more positive and well done for making it to 12 weeks Smile
Not long til our scans now! Although time seems to have slowed down Hmm

theotherfossilsister · 08/02/2022 15:12

Anxiety quite bad again today but not as terrible as last week. We have our private twelve week scan on Thursday as the nhs one is thirteen weeks. My baby has been consistently been measuring one or two days small so hope they're ok in there.

squatternutbosh12 · 08/02/2022 15:38

Just got our harmony results back - all low risk and we’re having a baby boyyy! 🥰

BunnieMilk · 08/02/2022 15:38

What are the harmony results? Can I get that with having twins? I'm 12 weeks

Beth262 · 08/02/2022 16:11

Oh congratulations @squatternutbosh12 🥰

squatternutbosh12 · 08/02/2022 16:24

Thank you @Beth262 😀
Getting my boy name brainstorm on! I already have so many I like, how to narrow it down?!

@BunnieMilk Harmony is one of many brands of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) which is a screening test for chromosomal abnormalities. It’s offered on the NHS if your combined rest shows a higher risk, as it gives a more accurate result. We chose to have it privately for peace of mind, and a bonus was finding out the sex early :)
It can be done for twins yes, including sex, although for non-identical twins if it detects a boy that may mean either just one or both babies are a boy, as it just tests for presence of a Y chromosome, which could belong to one or both babies. You can have it done at 12 weeks - just need to be over 10 weeks so now would be a perfect time if you wanted to!

madeleine85 · 08/02/2022 16:31

congratulations @squatternutbosh12 that is such lovely news!! Currently waiting for mine back... hoping by end of week if not early next one. It must be so nice to be able to know who is in there. I did the sneak peak early test and it said boy, but I've heard it can get contaminated pretty easily, so I'll be interested to see if it was actually right.

@BunnieMilk harmony is the NIPT test for genetic testing downs etc via blood draw. They are also able to tell you if there is a boy in there. My cousin did it with twins and it picked up male DNA, then the scan showed one boy one girl.

BunnieMilk · 08/02/2022 16:31

@squatternutbosh12 thank you for that information! 😀 I have my 12 week scan on Thursday , so far I only had one other emergency scan but the sonographer didn't get into detail about it

squatternutbosh12 · 08/02/2022 16:54

@madeleine85 thanks 😀 hope you get your results through soon, it’s such a nerve wracking wait isn’t it 😱 and yes so nice to know… and 50% less work choosing a name 😁
You’ll have to let us know if your sneak peak test was correct! X

squatternutbosh12 · 08/02/2022 16:58

@BunnieMilk also congrats on your twins how exciting!

CoalCraft · 08/02/2022 17:02

Congratulations @squatternutbosh12 how exciting! And must be a huge relief knowing all is well.

I'm awful - I already have a girl's name and a boy's name picked out 🙈

Beth262 · 08/02/2022 17:03

@squatternutbosh12 You'll have to share this long list you have! I've been comparing my DS scan to this one and convinced it's also a boy. Totally stuck on a name if it is 😆

OP posts:
SantiagoSister · 08/02/2022 17:11

A collective boy name list from the group would be very helpful! Our consultant said he was 90% sure we’re having a boy too, and I’m so stuck with boy names! I have lots of girl names, but not very many for a boy 💙

madeleine85 · 08/02/2022 17:26

That is amazing to anyone who already has a boy and a girl name! We have a girls name, so I am hoping the sneakpeak was wrong, but we are seriously struggling with a boys name. Unfortunately my girl name isn't a gender fluid one lol. Looking forward to finding out for sure just for bonding/practical reasons of getting things ready.

Currently in week 11 and my boob pain which went away weeks ago is back with a vengance. They are already bigger than the ever were when I was feeding my DD so I am terrified of what is to come!

Beth262 · 08/02/2022 17:26

@CoalCraft Nothing wrong with that! Had one name each picked out first time around fairly early. Girls name sorted this time but like I said, totally believing its a boy.

@SantiagoSister A collective group boys list would be very welcome!

Beth262 · 08/02/2022 17:30

@madeleine85 Boys names are so hard! All the ones I like don't work with DP/DS1 surname 🤦‍♀️

OP posts:
madeleine85 · 08/02/2022 17:33

As a Scot abroad I wanted a name close to my heritage as I'm missing home. I was going to do Isla for a girl but I am completely stumped with Scottish boys names that I actually like, and the ones that I do like my husband flat out refuses based on spelling/pronounciation. I can see us still trying to name this child when he comes assuming it is a he :)
