@theotherfossilsister I'm so sorry you're struggling, that combination of pain and anxiety must be very hard to deal with. Sorry I don't have any advice about a counsellor but I think it sounds like a great idea and I hope you're able to find a good one xx

PopGoesBang · 24/03/2022 15:43

@Cakecakecheese glad the scan went well and it's eased some of the toughness of the last few days.
These baby's are getting us well and truly ready for the up and downs of when they are actually here!

I'm quite lucky as I have growth scans already booked in - so from May I get to see baby monthly. It's because my bmi is higher than liked and it can be hard to tell from tummy measurements what baby is up to. Altho clearly they are letting us know already that it will only be on their terms 🤣

@theotherfossilsister sorry it's an added rough time for you. Sending gentle hugs.
Not any really help with the counsellor but could be worth giving your midwife team a call they may be able to recommend someone.
Be kind to yourself and take one day at a time.

ToCaden · 24/03/2022 16:10

@PopGoesBang me too for the extra growth scans. Mine should be weeks 28, 30, and 32. Mine are due to this being an IVF baby. Plus I need another scan week 34 to check if placenta has moved from the awkward place it's in. And going back for another scan sometime next week due to baby not cooperating at 20 week scan.

This baby will have so many scans by the time they get here.

My mother found the 20 week scan facinating as it's changed so much from when she had her kids. There wasn't even the choice of scans with her older ones, and the two she got each for the younger ones were much less detailed.

Also thinking of doing a 3d or 4d scan for the memories, but haven't decided yet.

@theotherfossilsister I second seeing if midwife team knows of someone good. They see a lot of people whose anxiety gets heighted during pregnancy so will be able to guide you to someone who can help.

PopGoesBang · 24/03/2022 16:19

@ToCaden Exactly the same! I even have a scan booked currently for 2 days before my due date!
Thankfully yesterday did show that my placenta is in a normal place this pregnancy.
I'm interested to see how much baby changes over time - I sort of feel it's a bonus to see it so regularly.
Just had the rescan date of 7th April so 2 weeks to wait.

surprised12 · 24/03/2022 16:41

Ladies who've had kids before - please tell me pregnancy gets easier?
I feel like I'm losing the battle at the minute. Tired 24/7, I've got no energy at all, could burst into tears at any point, pains here/there/everywhere. I also feel like a wreck physically- huge, struggling for clothes, my skin feel gaunt & dry.

I'm so excited for the baby to come but also to hope my body can start to get back to normal.

I feel so selfish feeling so down about this :(

madeleine85 · 24/03/2022 16:47

@Cakecakecheese congrats on the good scan!

@miltonj yay for another girl :)

I've had checkups every 2 weeks since 10 weeks pregnant, and have them at that frequency until at least 22 weeks. I have a regular doctor who in the second trimester just does doppler checks, so I guess every month I hear heartbeat from her, and then every alternating visit so the 2 weeks in between I am either at a growth scan, cervical measurement or just somehow have a check up. My DD was premie so they aren't taking chances. It is both reassuring, and feels like i'm never out of the check ups :). It will be weird if it suddenly slows down to monthly or more at 22 weeks!

PopGoesBang · 24/03/2022 16:59

@surprised12 I'm probably not the best person to ask, my last pregnancy was also a HG pregnancy and dd was squashing the tube from my kidney to bladder and caused all sorts of issues.
But I wanted to say I'm with you on this one.
Apparently last night as I fell asleep super early, when dp came to bed as he was settling the cat jumped on the bed and I told the cat to go away as I was too pregnant to deal with her shit 🤣 never a truer statement said sun consciously.

But go easy on yourself, you're grown a whole tiny human and that takes a lot! And your body is having huge adjustments which takes time to get used to. I think you don't hear enough ladies say how hard it is, but it really is.
I hope it gets easier for you and you manage to 'enjoy' some of it. But certainly don't beat yourself up for feeling how you do.

ToCaden · 24/03/2022 18:06

Anyone got tips for middle back pain?

madeleine85 · 24/03/2022 18:11

@ToCaden try pregnancy yoga to gently stretch out if you haven't already. If it really doesn't go, i'd recommend a chiropractor or osteopath if you can afford an appt. How far through are you? Now I remember i had a really sore middle back with my DD, but it was as I worked out a lot pre pregnancy, then had HG and couldn't move for 14 weeks. I think I became a limp noodle of a person really and my back suffered. I started doing some light weights classes in my second trimester (body pump) and it went away straight away pretty much. It also could be related to boob weight changes, so maybe a different bra could do something? So many potential issues caused by pregnancy!

madeleine85 · 24/03/2022 18:17

Also @surprised12 it did definitely get better for me last time. I had HG and between 14-18 weeks it started lifting, i'd feel better one day of every few, then it got more and more. By 18 weeks I was "normal" and back to working out, doing things etc. This time no HG, and by 17 weeks I really feel normal (but large).

Cakecakecheese · 24/03/2022 18:27

@ToCaden Tens machines are good for backache, check with your midwife that they're OK to use. I know some people use them in labour.

ToCaden · 24/03/2022 19:33

Thanks for advice. I'll check out / try out the suggestions.

@madeleine85 I'm 19+5. Though apparently my bump may be bigger than average for first time pregnancy at this point. My boobs are bigger, but like from an A size to a B, so not huge.

Delight12 · 24/03/2022 20:50

I'm 21+1 and still have morning sickness anyone else in the same boat? Also anyone who has had a C-section before how are your scars mine has been hurting for a few days now, I know it's probably because I'm stretching but is it anything to worry about?

RP90 · 24/03/2022 21:06

I've definitely found things harder this time round. This last week sickness and tiredness seem to have came back to say hello but I've felt movements today which has been lovely!!

My section scar hasn't started to hurt but I can imagine it will at some point. It's more "stretched" if that's the right way to describe it.

2weeks tomorrow till my 20week scan. Times flying by yet that date doesn't seem to be getting any closer!!

Delight12 · 24/03/2022 21:40

@RP90 I don't remember being this bad with my Ds but that was 10 years ago lol, tiredness is real bad at the moment but it will all be worth it in the end

squatternutbosh12 · 25/03/2022 08:10

@theotherfossilsister you poor thing what an added stress :( I hope they get your arm fixed up soon so you can start feeling better Flowers

@Delight12 I’m still being sick too, it’s such a drag isn’t it! I remember me at 12 weeks “…oh good, first trimester done, this sickness will be over soon…” Grin

I’ve woken up scared today as I accidentally slept on my back (all night I think Sad ) I’m 20 weeks today so rational-brain is saying baby is still small enough that it’s not a problem - but less-rational brain is panicking and trying everything from cold water to starjumps to get him to move so I can stop worrying 😱
@RP90 I don't remember being this bad with my Ds but that was 10 years ago lol, tiredness is real bad at the moment but it will all be worth it in the end
Same 😂😂, not 10yrs though 7yr, I'm
Also 40 this year, I'm thinking it's a combination of age and 7yr gap 😂 x

Cakecakecheese · 25/03/2022 08:40

@squatternutbosh12 it's only really after 28 weeks that you need to be the most careful about laying on your back for long periods, and even by then if it happens by accident during the night it's unlikely to be for long. Do you have a pregnancy pillow? That can help prevent doing it.

squatternutbosh12 · 25/03/2022 08:48

@Cakecakecheese thank you at least I’m nowhere near 28 weeks yet! I don’t have a pregnancy pillow yet, have been hesitant to get one as I just find ‘things’ around/on me quite uncomfortable at night- have tried with a couple normal pillows arranged strategically and just end up kicking them away. But should probably give a proper one a go anyway to prevent the back thing!

Isonthecase · 25/03/2022 21:10

@squatternutbosh12 noooo pregnancy pillows are the best thing ever! I think someone recommended an Asda one before but I got a fancier one last time and it was so nice my 3 year old nicked it to use himself 😂 can't wait to dig it out again!

Another one still there on the nausea, so annoying!!

squatternutbosh12 · 25/03/2022 23:27

@Isonthecase haha ok you might be swaying me- whats the name of the one you got and loved??

Beth262 · 26/03/2022 08:06

Morning everyone

I'm happy to say all looked well at my 20 week scan yesterday even though baby did take some convincing to move so that all measurements could be taken!
