Congratulations on everyone having their 20 weeks scans and getting to find out gender. We have our 20 week scan on 7th April but not finding out gender. I love having scans etc but I think cause this time we ain't wanting to know gender I can't wait for it to be over I have read to many horror story's off people going for scans and then slipping up so that's made me really anxious this time I think! X

beckybloomwood11 · 26/03/2022 11:32

Congratulations @Beth262 that's so exciting!

I'm in the Team April club for the 20 week scan - have to wait until the 12th!

So we finally have covid in the house 😩 my partner tested positive last night, thankfully at the moment I’m testing negative. Hoping to keep it that way, have been distancing since we found out, increased hand washing/cleaning, have the windows open and sleeping separately. Not sure what else we can do to try and prevent me getting it! As you all know, I’m having a very anxious pregnancy anyway, but trying not to worry too much unless I actually test positive 😩

Mufflette · 26/03/2022 14:57

Fingers crossed for staying negative @SantiagoSister! I was so worried about getting it while pregnant but am on day 5 now and while it's not been too fun (one day of throwing up, horrible headache and a lot of fever was the worst), it's now a blocked nose with a side order of tiredness and I even felt baby move for the first time while I was resting in bed yesterday! I'm just very jealous of my DP being allowed all the decongestants while I sip another ginger tea...

SantiagoSister · 26/03/2022 16:56

Thanks @Mufflette, fingers crossed. Sorry to hear you’ve had it too! So many people have it right now it seems. Glad it’s not been too bad for you, although those symptoms don’t sound much fun at all. I was thinking the same whilst dishing out the decongestants to DP, how I would have to avoid those lovely little helpers if I did test positive! So lovely you felt baby move yesterday, that must’ve been really reassuring ☺️ Hope you feel better soon!

Mufflette · 26/03/2022 17:20

Thanks @SantiagoSister, I'm dosing myself up on chocolate buttons Smile

Hope your DP is OK and you successfully avoid it!

SantiagoSister · 26/03/2022 17:36

@Mufflette Sounds like perfect medicine to me 😉 and thank you, we can only hope! 🤞🏼

CoalCraft · 26/03/2022 21:03

Ach, athlete's foot! Well I think so anyway, not had it before but it looks like it. Doctor has prescribed a cream over the phone. I know it's silly but I feel so uncomfortable using any medicine at all at the moment, even though the doc assures me it's safe!

Congrats to all on their scans xx Five days to go till mine fidgets impatiently

Beth262 · 27/03/2022 08:34

I hope you feel better soon @Mufflette amd there's every chance you can dodge it @SantiagoSister. When I had it several weeks back I was the only one who tested positive - and there were 5 of us staying in the house at the time.

Thanks @Beth262, that’s really reassuring to hear! I hope that can be the same for me, even though I kissed my partner good morning and goodbye the morning he then tested positive 🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m going to test again every couple of days and hope for the best, would love to dodge it if possible 🤞🏼

I’m with you @CoalCraft, still wouldn’t feel 100% confident in using medicines while baby is on board, I wonder if there’s any natural remedies for athletes foot? Not long now until your scan, it must’ve felt like an eternity!

Cakecakecheese · 27/03/2022 10:17

Happy mother's day/nearly mother's day everyone!

The bump got me some chocolates but apparently he said I should share them with Daddy Grin

ToCaden · 27/03/2022 11:18

KCat82 · 27/03/2022 19:33

Hi all. I tested positive for Covid on Tuesday. Wiped me out for a couple of days but on the mend now. The midwife has given me Fragmin injections to take for next 10 days to reduce chance of blood clots. Has anyone else had these? I'm just after tips on using them. We followed the instructions for my first one today and wow I wasn't expecting it to be so painful!!

Unknown6 · 27/03/2022 21:27

@KCat82, I had injection when I was in the hospital as they thought I might have a clot (I didn't luckily) that injection in my thigh was painful and left a bruise...I'm wondering if it was the same as yours as no one else seems to have had a painful bruising one...they didn't tell me what it was (although may have done but it was 1am when I was admitted)

strawberrysummer19 · 28/03/2022 08:37

Can anyone recommend the best cream for dry skin ? Bump can feel quite itchy some days but my skin in general is so dry

I have bio oil, e45 but when that ran out I tried aqueous cream but that's so hard to rub in
I bought aveena spray on which I'm loving the Spray on as I can do my legs and back without having to feel like I'm doing a body work out!

Anything for in the shower?

I've changed to simple products as I can't seem to tolerate any scented perfume my skin was terrible since around 10wks but it's more dry now

Thank you xx

Mufflette · 28/03/2022 08:51

@strawberrysummer19 I have really weirdly dry hips! What works best is using cream first and then oil over the top. I'm using quite scented things but maybe if you're looking for something for the shower the bioderma or eucerin shower oil could work? I'm not sure of the fragrance but would imagine it's none or minimal.

strawberrysummer19 · 28/03/2022 09:01

@Mufflette thanks will give that a try

Wonder if something is missing from my diet if my skin is so dry - it never normally is so definitely pregnant - feel I'm well dehydrated I don't drink caffeinated hot drinks just feel caf tea when I fancy one

Ah I always oil and then cream - I'll try that thank you x

Celyn22 · 28/03/2022 09:04

Hey @strawberrysummer19, I use organic mango butter. It’s sooo good and smells subtly of mangos but very mild. It’s main natural ingredient is vitamin E. I’ve been using it for years as I have allergies to non organic random branded cosmetics, and found this to be longer lasting hydration for my skin than shop bought moisturisers. It’s been helping my itchy nipples!

The best one in my opinion is from TreeHarvest which you can order over the phone from their website. I bought a 1kg tub for £8 on eBay and that is nowhere near as good as doesn’t smell that great so i’ve gone back to treeharvest.

A tip for anyone buying oils: the first pressing of the seed/nut is full of all the nutrients, and the more they’re pressed the less goodness there is. Which is why you can buy organic super cold pressed coconut oil for £20 per kg, or nothingy cold pressed organic coconut oil for £2.99 per 500g from home bargains.
It depends what you are using it for but when I found that out it changed the way I used everything and sometimes have both the cheap and good quality ones in stock for different purposes

Isonthecase · 28/03/2022 10:54

@strawberrysummer19 I'm super dry as well, have found the biggest difference is eating more fats, staying out of air con and heated places, and only using sensitive moisturisers and shower gels or soaps. I have a lovely lush soap for the shower now and use a mix of whatever is on offer for after but aveeno, sukin, or weleda are usually a good bet. Also really like a salt scrub from sanctuary that exfoliates and moisturises. Most important bit is upping the olive oil and butter though, fat in the diet makes more of a difference than moisturiser.

CoalCraft · 28/03/2022 13:15

Scan on Thursday and God this week is dragging already. Had a terrible night sleep-wise so I'm just sat here like a zombie at my desk lol

Three. Days. To go.

ToCaden · 28/03/2022 14:00

You can do it @coalcraft !!! I had low tolerance for nights of poor sleep pre pregnancy. Now I have even less tolerance. I need my sleep. Just count down every hour until home time, and if you can manage it, get some fresh air during breaks (or if you're working from home, a power nap).

SantiagoSister · 28/03/2022 14:42

Having the dry skin problem here too, I never realised it was such a coming thing! I’ve been using the palmers stretch mark lotion and I’ve found that keeps my skin feeling well moisturised. Have started to get a scaly scalp now too, when I’ve never suffered with that before! I keep hydrated and eat well too, so I’m assuming it’s definitely pregnancy related.

ToCaden · 28/03/2022 15:00

Me too for the dry skin issues. From this thread at least it does look like a common thing.

squatternutbosh12 · 28/03/2022 15:08

Had 20 week scan today at 20+3 - mostly all ok and baby wriggling around nicely, just a couple of things that have worried me a bit..
He has slightly dilated kidneys so been referred to foetal medicine for another scan- they’re not too far off what they should be so nobody was super concerned but hopefully will find out more with the next scan.
Also they didn’t mention it at the time but on his report they’ve put nuchal fold at 5.5mm which is near the upper limit of normal - the cut off is 6mm, above which you would be referred for genetic tests as its a marker for downs etc - I dunno I guess it’s within normal range but it just seems pretty close to where they would do something about it.. I had all the early screening and came back 1:2000 (and nuchal translucency was 1.8mm at 13 weeks which was very normal) but am aware all screening tests can miss cases so am feeling worried Sad - especially as there’s the kidney thing as well which I’ve read can be seen in babies with chromosome problems too! But the consultant didn’t seem worried and I get the feeling I wouldn’t be offered definitive testing (cvs/amnio) as it’s all just borderline so I’ll just end up worrying that he is that ‘missed case’ the whole pregnancy?!
If you’ve had your 20 week scan what was your NF thickness?
