@lpo3010 nope! I was just wondering if it was normal cos everything I've seen on the dreaded Google says cramps last for a couple of minutes then go again. Mine are just there, consistently. 🤨
Mine don't go away either. How far along are you?

PrettyTulip · 26/01/2022 15:56

@lpo3010 6w3d. You?

lpo3010 · 26/01/2022 16:00
@lpo3010 6w3d. You?
5wks 5 days (I think!)
Have you had any contact from a midwife/hospital yet or an early scan?
I hear the cramp pain might be to do with the early stages of pregnancy, but wish it would disappear!

PrettyTulip · 26/01/2022 16:03

@lpo3010 nope! I've not got a booking in slot until I'm 9 weeks. Went to the out of hours urgent care the other day cos I was worried it was a UTI but it wasn't .. so I dunno what it is?!
I'm planning on booking an early scan next week as I've had a tiny bit of spotting at the beginning of the week but I feel a bit in the lurch at the moment?!

110APiccadilly · 26/01/2022 16:05

I thought I felt kicks yesterday. Which I'm really hoping was gas, as otherwise I'm going to get a shock on the 12 week scan, aren't I?!

Pretty sure it was gas though as I had completely normal periods before November. We also weren't trying before then (in fact actively trying not to conceive) as I'd been advised not to get pregnant for a year after DD's birth.

Moonshine160 · 26/01/2022 16:16

Thanks all for the reassurance. I do hope that I carry on feeling normal but having symptoms makes me feel more confident that things are going ok. Time will tell. I’ve got an early scan booked for when I'm 7+4 based on my last period date so hopefully we will see a little heartbeat and I’ll feel loads better after that.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 16:17

@Jenna240 how many weeks did u think u were?

madeleine85 · 26/01/2022 16:26

@MrsS7 that is a great tool, thank you!!

@Hopingforarainbow27 I had a scan at 5+2 with DD and all I could see was a sac. She is now a very rumbunctious 2 year old. It is great that you could see a sac tbh. I've read a few scare stories of early scans and there being no yolk sac and it not being viable, so yours is a really promising sign. Try to relax and breathe a bit. With this pregnancy I had a scan measuring 6+4 and you couldn't see much on the screen, there was a heartbeat, and if I zoomed in on the image at home I could make out a baby shape. It is amazing how much it changes in a week, so hopefully your next scan will be full of great news :)

@Moonshine160 this one doesn't feel at all like my first pregnancy re. symptoms. At 9 weeks I am feeling pretty sick, but up till now I have barely had anything. It is showing up as a boy vs girl with first pregnancy, so I think that is where the difference is. If your scan is 7 weeks you'll hopefully get a lovely heartbeat for reassurance x

@madeleine85 I think it's just that I was going thinking I was 6 weeks because I got a positive ovulation test on 29th December so I expected to see more so when I didn't I just felt deflated? I had a really strong positive two weeks ago today so I feel like I should def be 6 weeks? I suppose I'm just overthinking it but because ive never seen a heartbeat I was hoping I would today

madeleine85 · 26/01/2022 17:16

@Hopingforarainbow27 at this early stage I feel like readings are so hit and miss tbh. Later on they will re-date you and adjust by a few days as needed. It must be a bit of a gut punch to expect a heartbeat and not get one today, so sending a big virtual hug your way, but your next scan is in a few weeks and you will likely hear a strong one beating away, and you'll see so much more! At 6 weeks I could see the heartbeat on screen, and very briefly heard it, but the doctor couldn't get a good angle and kept complaining about the room layout. The image was very fuzzy too. I am dying for my next one on the 4th!

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 17:24

@madeleine85 thank you so much. I'm just worrying I'll see a foetal pole but not heartbeat and only measure 6 weeks when I will be 8. Just because of my previous experience I feel like it's just that over again but I need to change my mindset and tell myself this is a different pregnancy. It's just so hard when all you've experienced is loss ☹️

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 17:26

This is my scan measuring 5w 5d

@Hopingforarainbow27 that says your GA is 6w0d though - or am I reading that wrong?

mummysept22 · 26/01/2022 18:07

How is everyone funding their mat leave? I have just left a job in thé NHS with super mat pay to a company who doesn't give a penny 🤦🏼‍♀️ I've got a bit saved and will continue to do so until Im off. Although we are also saving for a deposit- gahhh!! X

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 18:12

@PrettyTulip I know I don't know why it says that! That's what I should be and what she said I should be before she scanned me but she said your measuring 5 weeks 5days so yeah that's strange! 🤔

PrettyTulip · 26/01/2022 18:14

@Hopingforarainbow27 I always thought the GA was changed automatically by their measures so I'm probably wrong in that if they said you measured differently 😂

Karla1313 · 26/01/2022 18:15

Congrats to you all !!
Just wanted to say hi. I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant with my first. Very excited but anxious at the same time. So much to learn and so much to do Shock
I have missed the original thread with advice on how to ease the cramps could someone please advise. The struggle is real. I'm fine during the day while I'm moving around but they get very strong in the evenings when I try to relax before sleep. Can't be on my feet the whole day, right?! There must be a little chilli time Wink. Struggling to get good night sleep since last week because of them.

Hopingforarainbow27 · 26/01/2022 18:16

@PrettyTulip I know me too!! Confusing

mummysept22 · 26/01/2022 18:17

@Karla1313 oh j missed this too!! Damn cramps always worse at night !!! Congratulations!! I am just a few days ahead of you x.

I just used hot water bottle for mine. Or hot-ish shower helped too. And some paracetamol.
The things to avoid are having a too hot and steamy shower, and hot baths, but a nice warm/bordering hot bath is fine too.

It's horrible thinking about it isn't it? We get 15 weeks full pay, then drops to stat. I'm saving now (had no savings pre pregnant news as we've just spent £10k on our front drive #BadTiming) I also get a bonus in December which is usually really good - so that will fund at least 2-3 months. And then adding holidays onto the end. Im thinking I'm going to only be able to afford about 8 months off in total.

I earn more than my husband and we pay all of our outgoings from my wage - his wage usually pays for our nice to have things - like eating out etc. so we'll be a bit stretched but I'm trying not to worry about it just yet & save as much as possible!

Bad timing on your NHS move :(
mummysept22 · 26/01/2022 18:32

@surprised12 well it's a long story with the NHS job and I'm actually going through an employment tribunal - so may get lucky and win, that will more then cover my mat leave, but not holding out much hope!! 😢 x

madeleine85 · 26/01/2022 18:40

@Hopingforarainbow27 your scan probably has your date listed off your AF last date, while she measured you differently. My doctor said I was 7+1 at my last scan, but I measured 6+4 which is bang on AF vs ovulation dates that I calculated. It must be so hard to be doing this after a MC, my heart goes out to anyone who has to endure that stress. Please send your body all the love that you can, treat it well, rest, and please know that we are all hoping for the best for you this time round, and a healthy baby in 2 weeks x

@mummysept22 I am less scared of saving for mat leave, and more scared of how the hell to afford 2 children in daycare after it ends, while saving for a house. My husband left a well paid law job to be a government lawyer for a few years and took a large pay cut in doing so (with long term experience gaining benefits), but I am very ready for him to go back to being the breadwinner... he says he probably has 1-2 years left before he does. Sigh.

I'm very lucky and get 6 months on full pay. I'm the primary earner by quite some margin, and want to take a year off so we will have to use savings as well, but we over-saved for DD so still have some of that left. I also have a very PT job (2 to 10 hours a week) which is very flexible so I'll probably go back to that when new baby is three or four months, which will bring in a bit extra.
