Scan anxiety at its peak here 😭😭😭 20 week scan tomorrow. I had a good gender scan at 15+1 and have been feeling definite movements all week but can’t help but feel so nervous for tomorrow think it’s because it’s the anomaly scan. Any coping tricks to get me to 11:30 tomorrow ladies. ??

Rolledthedice · 20/01/2022 18:03

@Littlemilomoo beautiful scan pic! ♥️ Hopefully your placenta will move up and you can have your water birth. 🤞🏻

@MrsNT mine’s often milky too! I think it’s perfectly normal and amounts/consistency vary week to week. In the weeks that I would normally have ovulated, I tend to see more and it’s transparent (which is how it would be if ovulating anyway).

Rolledthedice · 20/01/2022 18:15

@Flowerbug1994 I’m sure it will all be ok tomorrow. You have everything in your favour with a good gender scan and feeling movements through the week. Focus on the positive thoughts if you can, “I will see my baby again tomorrow, they will be healthy, I will be healthy, and all will be well.” Scan anxiety is horrible, but you’ve totally got this. xx

PurpleMoon12 · 20/01/2022 18:24

@Flowerbug1994 same here! 🙋‍♀️ Planning on watching some good comedies on netflix to have a laugh and it should make time go a bit quicker. Hopefully I'll be so tired by the time i go to bed I'll just drop. Plan a small treat for afterwards as well. I'm buying cupcakes straight after!

aus12 · 20/01/2022 18:24

Is anything thinking of booking a babymoon? Either here in the UK or abroad? And is anyone planning any holidays after baby arrives? We’re thinking of a babymoon end of April/early May to either the Canaries or Menorca. Also planning on taking the baby to France end of August for at least a month plus a long haul flight to Aus in December.... are we crazy?? Both of our parents live overseas & I haven’t been home at all since pre-covid

MrsNT · 20/01/2022 18:25

Thanks ladies..yes the varying quantities freak me out hence I asked. Got some relief reading answers here

@Littlemilomoo congrats on your gorgeous scan! Don't worry, by 36 weeks, you'll be so uncomfortable you won't care if they book you in for a moon birth*

*I made up moon birth. Don't go asking your midwives for one.

Whatcanmyusernamebe · 20/01/2022 18:53

@Littlemilomoo I also have a low lying placenta. Feel reassured that 9 times out of 10 it moves out of the way but feels like such a long wait to find out what kind of birth we will have. Fingers crossed for both of us.

InvisibleDragon · 20/01/2022 19:04

@aus12 - We're planning to visit my in-laws in Egypt with the baby during mat leave. Probably February or March when he's a bit older though. I'm really looking forward to it already!

I don't think it's crazy to want to travel with the baby when they're little. I've think to keep in mind though is their vaccination schedule - I think it's all done by 4 months in the first year, but I might not want to travel before they'd had at least the first dose of everything.

InvisibleDragon · 20/01/2022 19:10

@Flowerbug1994 Looks like you have a good plan for the evening already, but if anxious "what if" thoughts do come up, does it help to think something like "and what if it doesn't" or "if that happens we'll deal with it then"? Sometimes it can feel like if we don't spend ages worrying about things that we don't really care (like "tempting fate"), or that worrying can stop something bad happening. But that's not really true. Worrying just makes us feel more sad and anxious - and makes us worry more! Try not to feel guilty about putting the worries out of your head and enjoying your plan for the evening.

Thanks Girls ! Am planning on going to see Prams in the flesh after my scan so will just do abit more research tonight about what I want to have a better look at. And then going and buying a pregnancy pillow cause last nights sleep was dreadful so hopefully I’ll drop right off tonight. Xxxx

Littlemilomoo · 20/01/2022 20:20

Thanks everyone for the kind messages ❤️
After seeing baby on the scan today I can now picture their little body and little feet as I feel the movements and just makes it so much more special!
We also got to see a really detailed view of their lips which I wasn’t expecting. First time seeing our baby’s face was just amazing!!

@Whatcanmyusernamebe oh no hopefully we will be fine but at least we have each other to talk about it

I'd love to do a babymoon somewhere special like Maldives but in reality I'd be too worried in case I need urgent medical care? So prob will just stay at home

Travel - yes. Plan to go travelling during my mat leave. We are planning to set off when the baby is 6-12 weeks old. It's easier to travel at that age as toddlers need entertainment, snacks, iPads. Newborn will hopefully breastfeed so no food needed. 🙏🏻
We are in Aus and hoping to travel around Europe for about 3 months. What are you reservations about it (if you have any)?

laurenGame · 20/01/2022 22:01

@beansprout55 ah, annoying spotting 😠 have you noticed if it's triggered by anything? I used to spot after sex but no blood for 3 weeks now but like @Prema112 I still anxiously check for blood every time I pee. Woke up on a wet patch the other day and burst into tears from fear - but it was just a sweat patch (hot night).
I don't think the fear will go away now.
I guess we've made it this far with spotting, so it must be some irritation rather that any hurt to the baby?
X

AlbatrossSociety · 20/01/2022 22:08

@aus12 my family had already booked a skiing holiday in April. My husbands so excited as he's never been before but I can't say I'm buzzing about going and not being able to ski. So not a babymoon but will be travelling. My husbands cousin is getting married in Portugal in late May and I'm not going to go to that one! But think that he is.

We don't have any trips abroad planned for after baby is born, just a trip to Devon in late August.

JAR1981 · 20/01/2022 22:11

@PurpleMoon12 @Flowerbug1994 good luck for tomorrow. Hope you can focus on looking forward to seeing your LOs again and how relieved and elated you will feel once it’s done.

@aus12 we’ve booked a week in Cornwall for 12th August. LO should be about 10 weeks so ok to travel in the car so long as we stop minimum every two hours. We may regret it though given it’s a 6+ hour journey!

MrsNT · 20/01/2022 23:27

Almost time for thread 7

Is it worth getting car seat that attaches on to pushchair ? I dont see how i will use that if i am also spending moneh on pram/pushchar set. Mommies is it worth getting that or do you just take child out of car seat and into pram/pushchair

OP posts:
Matilda30 · 21/01/2022 07:05

@MrsNT with my first we had the travel system where the car seat attaches to the pram, used it lots. It just makes life much easier, especially if baby is asleep after a car journey which was often the case with us. But obviously it's not a necessity.

fpeg · 21/01/2022 07:41

@Littlemilomoo how wonderful that little one is all healthy and well, at least you have a reason for the bleeding and hopefully it moves up and out of the way xx

@JAR1981 @Prema112 we're also on the IVF journey, never knew I had endometriosis until I was investigated for failure to conceive! It all made sense in hindsight. Had to have my tubes removed though as part of treatment, so IVF was our only way

@Flowerbug1994 good luck for today! I was interviewing someone in the morning until I had to leave for mine, it was really helpful as I had to concentrate on that!

@PurpleMoon12 good luck today as well! Hope you managed sleep after the Netflix marathon x

@aus12 we're looking at a holiday in a couple of weeks and possibly something in late March (I can't travel after mid-end of April depending on airline). We've (slightly crazily I think) booked a holiday for October, other half convinced we'll have the baby thing down by then 😂

beansprout55 · 21/01/2022 08:31

@laurenGame doesn't seem be a trigger.
I've had quite a bit of cramping on and off the last couple of days which is adding to the worry.
Scan in an hour and so nervous.
I know it had only been 3 weeks of no spotting but I guess I had forgotten the pure terror you feel when finding blood. Seems worse this time and new/separate to whatever was the cause of the early pregnancy continuous spotting.

So glad yours hasn't come back, praying it will stay that way for you. xx

Olive60 · 21/01/2022 09:15

💗💗 ITS A GIRL! 💗💗

Would have been lovely to have welcomed a boy to our 4 girls but baby number 5 will still be loved just as much! They all wanted a girl so they'll be over the moon!

destiEos · 21/01/2022 09:26

Congrats @Olive60!! Good luck @beansprout55! I'm due my scan this afternoon too. More nervous than excited ATM 🤞🏼
