Sizing is an interesting thing. For our first, I was planning on getting mostly 0-3, but a friend whose daughter was a very large baby steered me to newborn. She made the point that her daughter was in newborn size, despite being a huge baby. And she was right - our daughter was around the 50th centile and 0-3 was huge on her - I honestly worried she’d slide down in the baby grows and they would cover part of her face. I bought a 0-3 “going home outfit” (don’t get me started on that point) as I thought it would last longer; she looks so swamped in the photos poor thing. She then gradually went up to the 90th centile, but still was in newborn past a month old.
The only issue here is different brands do seem to size differently, as you’ve all pointed out. I happened to buy from the same place as my friend who gave me the advice, and also we inherited a lot of her two girls’ clothes - so I knew we were comparing apples with apples.

Less than an hour until my gender scan (3rd time lucky!!!) Why do I feel so nervous! I can hardly breathe at the thought of hopefully finding out!

@Vimto1991 omg my hips! I wake in the night in pain with them. Im a front sleeper so finding it so hard to get comfortable

PeeAche · 19/01/2022 18:24

I used to be a front sleeper. I miss front sleeping.

I keep turning onto my back in the night which has left me convinced I'm going to kill my baby. Thanks Google.

Also convinced that my husband will kill me as I have suddenly become a snorer.

Brightsmoke · 19/01/2022 18:28

@Clueless22 the girl clothes is part of the reason I wanted a girl. To Drew's her up cute. But I know I'd end up with a tomboy so can't predict things I guess. Not clothes selections are rubbish

Haha @AlbatrossSociety we chose a boys name last time and when he was born, I turned to my husband and said 'he looks like a George' no idea where that came from as it was never even in the running 😂

@Vimto1991 I was measuring big with my son, they suspected 9-10lb baby. He came out 15 days late at 7lb 15, so unless you get an actual scan, and even then it can be wrong, then it's just guess work IMO.

Good luck @Olive60

I recommend a few different sizes, a couple of vests and baby grows in each. I also recommend putting it each outfit in a bag, so vest, baby grow, hat, mittens etc in a bag, labelled, then next outfit in a separate bag. Makes life so much easier when digging through your hospital bag!

Brightsmoke · 19/01/2022 18:31

* to dress her up cute and baby boy clothes selections and rubbish that was meant to say

JAR1981 · 19/01/2022 18:44

@PeeAche me too! Husband is not impressed.

@Vimto1991 and others - I bought a cheap mattress topper from Dunelm and seems to have eased the hip pain a wee bit. Side sleeping seems to require a squishier surface. Still wake up in pain and have to turn, but the pain was almost bringing tears to my eyes pre-topper, so definitely recommend if you’re suffering.

JAR1981 · 19/01/2022 18:44

@Olive60 good luck!

Vimto1991 · 19/01/2022 18:51

@JAR1981 omg you know what? I have one! It was for the sofa bed we don’t even use!! Thank you, I’m gonna test it out!

MrsTwentyNine · 19/01/2022 19:09

@Clomid1 any feeling of movement ? Still just "stitches" for me...in fact I don't think I felt anything today Sad Getting worried now!

19 weeks today...

20 weeks scan next week!

Congrats to everyone with good 20 week scans and good luck to those having it soon Smile

PurpleMoon12 · 19/01/2022 19:15

Tesco have a selection of mattress toppers if anyone needs to do a dash to the shops tonight! I couldn't face another night of hip/leg pain, so fingers crossed this works!

fpeg · 19/01/2022 19:37

@MrsTwentyNine when I was a yoga last night one of the women said she didn't feel anything until 28 weeks. Baby all ok, she just didn't feel anything until last week, hope this helps offer some reassurance xxx

ChildOfFriday · 19/01/2022 19:45

@MrsTwentyNine I have felt some pulling and possibly a kind of popping feeling, but not anything that I could say with any certainty was the baby. I'm 19+2 and mentioned it to my midwife today- she wasn't at all concerned and said it's still early days for movement, so I wouldn't worry Smile

Prema112 · 19/01/2022 19:55

@PeeAche I also kept waking up on my back and thinking I've killed the baby!! Anyone got any tips for how to get up for a wee or even turn over in bed with one of those pregnancy pillows that you have between your legs?! I feel like every time I need to move it's like fighting a sea monster and I'm constantly waking up DH just to turn over!!

Prema112 · 19/01/2022 19:56

Ooo @Olive60 good luck!!

Prema112 · 19/01/2022 19:58

@RoseValleyRambles Do your ribs ache because baby is kicking them do you think? My cervix aches from baby kicks Blush

Olive60 · 19/01/2022 20:14

Wellll still no clue as to what baby is 🤣 back tomorrow for the last time. If not I'll just take it as I'm not suppose to know. The sonographer did say she had a clue. I think it's a girl from what I thought I could see. Which would mean 5 girls between us! See what tomorrow brings!

Prema112 · 19/01/2022 20:22

@Olive60 Oh wow sorry you couldn't see! What position was baby in to make it so tricky?

Olive60 · 19/01/2022 20:29

@prema112 baby had its legs crossed again but facing us this time. Last time it was facing my back with with legs crossed and legs bent. Knackered my unfit self out doing star jumps, managed to get it to uncross its legs to then put its hands there!

PeeAche · 19/01/2022 20:34

Any baby that stubborn MUST be a girl. 😅

rathernotshare · 19/01/2022 20:39

Happy halfway day to my fellow June 8thers!!!

BunBun221 · 19/01/2022 21:38

Hi all. So I've been waiting in eager anticipation for my 20 week scan letter and getting more and more anxious that something had gone wrong. I've been trying to contact the hospital for the last 3 days (I have over 20 calls in my call log where I've tried to get through) but the call is dialling so long unanswered I always got cut off. Anyway turns out they had booked my 20 week scan to take place on April 14th... when I'm 30 weeks...

I'm honestly losing so much faith in the NHS and I don't feel cared for at the minute at all. I can't book a doctors appointment (my surgery is literally not doing them right now - they've even stopped the online econsultations and telephone appointments) They didn't check my pee or take bloods at my booking appointment . I had to go to the hospital to get the bloods done and I literally had to argue my way to get a doctors appointment for a suspected UTI (which was a baddie in the end). The hospital then 'lost a vial of my blood so I was told to have my blood taken at my 12 week scan.

Went to the 12 week scan (late - at 13+1) and baby was in totally the wrong position and wouldn't move. Sonographer prodded my tummy for 15 minutes then gave up. I then got really upset follow up bit with the nurse because I couldn't have the screening and she told us the only way we would know is if we'd agreed to pay 400 for the harmony test but we'd have to let them know by 10am the next day!

Had my 16 week midwife appointment and again it was useless. She took my blood pressure and that was literally it. Didn't check my pee, didn't check weight, couldn't hear baby heartbeat - the midwife didn't even ask me how I'm feeling.

Feeling super deflated and low and really worrying about the next few months...

MrsTwentyNine · 19/01/2022 21:48

@ChildOfFriday @fpeg thank you lovelies that's very reassuring ❤️
