Hello everyone!

I have just had my BFP this morning, and based on dates I am due on the 1st September! I’m only just late on my period so hopefully there will be a few more of us over the next few weeks. Last pregnancy my date was pushed back a few days and DS ended up being a full 12 days late after that so I’m not too wedded to the 1st September!

After a total faff ringing back and forth I have an appointment with the midwife on the 7th feb. I'll be nearly 10 weeks then!

TotoAnnihiliation · 13/01/2022 18:30

I've just done another pregnancy test as a reassurance it came up straight away as positive. Just incase I was imaging the symptoms! I'm hungry but can't think of a single thing that I want to eat.

PumpkinsMum18 · 13/01/2022 18:34

@TotoAnnihiliation I did exactly the same thing today!! Only symptom I have is tiredness and a bit of breast tenderness. I thought I would start feeling sick by now but maybe that’s still to come…. 🙈

Flibbyjibby · 13/01/2022 18:41

Woke up (5weeks) with some terrible cramps today, and I usually have pretty good pain threshold (gave birth to no.1 with no pain relief!)
No bleeding though and just get a bit of a pain if I stretch, so think it might just be my uterus stretching. Or trapped wind 🙄

Spoken to GP who has prescribed me some anti sickness meds as I had hyperemesis last time. Booked in with midwife for when I am 9 weeks.

Feeling more relaxed this pregnancy but probs won’t be saying that in a few weeks!

madeleine85 · 13/01/2022 18:54

@Flibbyjibby I am currently 6+5 and last weekend I had awful cramps all day on Saturday. I was sure it was a MC, but apparently it is fine and there was no bleeding. Weird how our bodies stretch out etc. My doctor said that if this is your second, your oxytocin receptors are more receptive to signals and can therefore give increased cramping in a second pregnancy. Like you, I had no pain relief for my first, and it honestly wasn't awful, so any pains this early terrify me.

@TooManyCostas are there ever too many costas? Just kidding. I do love a good hot chocolate and marshmallows though. The group creator will likely have to issue a new link to the FB as it expires after more than 20 people are added.

@PumpkinsMum18 and @TotoAnnihiliation my symptoms are much milder this time around, or I am more tolerant of the sickness feeling. Last time I think it started around week 6 (I had bad HG). My sister had it with both of hers and said it started a week later with her second. Weirdly I feel much more nauseas in the shower, it weirdly triggers my feeling sick. I have a suspicion that this time it is a boy. Weird new feelings for this pregnancy are less sickness, oilier skin and sore boobs.

Weddingaug2019 · 13/01/2022 18:57

Oh my lord.. anyone else MEGA bloated...!?
I'm only 5 weeks and feel like I can barely fit in my jeans!
Counting the days until our first scan like a kid waiting for Xmas.. 😬

Flibbyjibby · 13/01/2022 19:00

@Weddingaug2019 yes really bloated! I’m living in dresses and tights for work at the moment as can’t face trousers 🤣

madeleine85 · 13/01/2022 19:04

@Weddingaug2019 thank god for working from home and living in workout clothing. I am currently living in my stretched out leggings from my last pregnancy.

Yes!! I'm living in PJ bottoms, joggers or loose leggings!!

Can't face jeans or anything tight - the bloat is real!!

TotoAnnihiliation · 13/01/2022 19:15

I can't wait until 12 weeks where I shall allow myself to go on a spending spree for maternity clothes.

Has anyone else had ridiculous wind? I'm embarrassed to admit this but I literally can't stop farting!

You have made me feel much better! These early days are so uncertain!

annlee3817 · 13/01/2022 19:22

@madeleine85 thanks for sharing what the doctor said to you about pains in second pregnancy, I've been having a dull ache for most of the day and some sharp twinges alongside the stretchy feelings and it's been making me worry. So that makes me feel a little more at ease

PumpkinsMum18 · 13/01/2022 19:45

@madeleine85 that’s so interesting to hear about milder symptoms second time around! Maybe second time mums are too busy with the older children to focus on how they are feeling 😂 I think this pregnancy will be easier than last time for me as I won’t have the long work commute. 1.5hrs each way on the tube was not fun!!!

PumpkinsMum18 · 13/01/2022 19:50

Amazed at the mamas who gave birth without pain relief! You superstars! I had TENS machine and gas and air when I gave birth to DD. Originally planned for a home birth, but it didn’t go ahead for various reasons. Hoping to have one this time! 🤞

Peauela · 13/01/2022 20:00

@annlee3817 thank you! I took a digital to announce it to hubby - now it feels real!

Kudos to all who gave birth without pain relief, I'm a big baby when it comes to pain don't know how I'm going to do it!

@peauela no shame in pain relief, different births are different level of painful and different people cope differently! Besides when else do you get to try all sorts of interesting drugs?

TooManyCostas · 13/01/2022 20:17

@TotoAnnihiliation I hear you with the wind! I can't remember having it in my previous 2 pregnancies. I am just so sleepy, My Mum keeps hinting that she knows but right now I'm not ready to tell anyone

madeleine85 · 13/01/2022 20:18

@PumpkinsMum18 it is strange isn't it! My DD gave us a bad winter vomiting bug a few weeks ago, and I wonder if I am just able to distinguish the feeling sick that I get in morning sickness vs projectile vomiting due to the recent memory. If I really think back to last time, I felt sick/tired a lot but took HG medications and I don't remember throwing up a lot. I''ll be really intrigued to find out the sex for the is it the same as last time/isn't it reason.

Also re. pain relief and birth 1) you have a long time to come up with a birth plan/decide what is right for you 2) no one can judge you for choosing pain relief in that moment (I asked for it but it wasn't given in time) and 3) everyone's birth is different, even if it is a C section, you have still "birthed" a baby. I am glad to have done it without, but it was only as the labour was so fast, the nurse didn't listen when I said my mum and sister had very fast labours and an hour after we got there I sent my husband to get her back as it was so sore I couldn't stand or sit... I had gone from 2cm to the baby coming out in an hour and she had to ask me to stop pushing, which I couldn't. If I get the option this time I would choose no pain relief (saying that now) but that is only so I can feel what is happening re. pushing/potential pooping, and satisfy my own insecurity about being in control of my body. It is going to be really exciting for all 8/9 months from now to see how it really goes, and whatever happens, you ultimately forget about labour quickly, because you have a mini person to adore.

AquaVitae89 · 13/01/2022 20:40

Hi all,

Have been following along and tentatively joining! I had a chemical in Nov at 5 weeks, only 4+2 this time but have blazing positives a clear blue digi at 2-3. My lines never really progressed last time and I got my BFP at 12dpo this time compared to 15dpo last time so I’m taking this time as a positive and hoping baby stays in place!

I’m due 21st sept by my LMP. Definitely booking an early scan. Sore boobs and heightened sense of smell is all I have so far!

Not sure when to tell work. NHS seeing covid patients regularly and fully vaccinated.

BlueSky57 · 13/01/2022 20:48

Welcome @AquaVitae89!Smile

I am having cramps every day now. They only come now & again & range between really painful & normal aches. I don’t have any bleeding or spotting though. Can anyone recommend anything to help when they are really bad?

I hardly ever take paracetamol because they don’t really help me with any type of pain but I’m guessing that may be the only thing safe to take now? I’d usually use a hot water bottle but the last few days I’ve been feeling faint & nauseous if hot. Any other tips? Confused

petitlapin1 · 13/01/2022 21:00

@madeleine85 Interesting what your sister said about her HG- 7 years ago mine started as soon as I found out (about 5 weeks) and this time I've been convinced I'm just really lucky this time and the mild waves are all I'm going to get.

That was until the last 24 hours- I can once again smell the bin from the other side of the house and the smell of water made me heave in the shower. 6+3 ish. I am so going to regret hoping for more sickness last week, for reassurance! 😂😭

Welcome @AquaVitae89 and congratulations! I'm NHS too and having a similar dilemma. "Luckily" still off after my last round of covid but think I'll tell the bare minimum number of people when I go back (another week or so I reckon, when I'll be about 8 weeks). They might even fit me for an ffp3! 🤞

Whoknew22 · 13/01/2022 21:03

@BlueSky57 paracetamol for sure. What about water? Could that help? A bath or a shower?

Do you find it worse when sitting/lying? I always found that mine was worse when I wasn’t doing anything. Just wondering if bouncing on a ball would give you any relief.

Sassy144 · 13/01/2022 21:13

I'm glad I'm not the only one with cramps, and I'm also extremely bloated and gassy! I had dinner at my in law's tonight (who we haven't told) and as soon as I got in the car I undid my jeans, so uncomfortable!

@BlueSky57 I've also found I have a funny turn when I get hot, I had to turn my heating off after about 2 minutes earlier as it made me feel really sick! And I woke up in the night dripping with sweat last night, had to pull all the covers off me. I would try paracetamol for the cramps and see if that helps, got to be better than nothing. I find sometimes just moving around a little can help mine ease off a little. It's funny, when I have the cramps I worry what it means and when I don't have the cramps I worry what it means 😂

girafferafferaffe · 13/01/2022 21:18

I'm hoping to have my second home birth. 🤞🏼

madeleine85 · 13/01/2022 21:26

@BlueSky57 I've heard water is a magical cure for most first trimester problems. Does potassium (bananas) help with cramping? I thought it does at least for muscle cramps. With saturday's cramps I tried a hot water bottle and sleep. Even if you can't bear to be hot, maybe you need some rest and rehydration. Hope you are ok!
