Hello everyone!

I have just had my BFP this morning, and based on dates I am due on the 1st September! I’m only just late on my period so hopefully there will be a few more of us over the next few weeks. Last pregnancy my date was pushed back a few days and DS ended up being a full 12 days late after that so I’m not too wedded to the 1st September!

@309SJ

Congratulations everyone! I’ve found out today and I’m still shocked, expected date will be 4th September. I’ve never been pregnant before, don’t have any recently pregnant relatives and none of my friends have children so it’s nice to read about others similar experiences! I’m having cramps like mild period pains, I’ve felt sick for like 10 days and I only really feel like eating loads of melted cheese 😂 x
Congrats! I was the first in my friendship group to become pregnant, and found my online due date groups invaluable support in my first pregnancy.

Thanks @buttercuplizzy! Hoping this one is a boy and somehow I escape the sickness, but being realistic, that is unlikely. I had HG the last time, and just wasn't functional for months. My doctor is ok with giving me a prescription for ondansetron/zofran which I had the last time, so i'm relieved about that. I honestly can't touch ginger after throwing it up so much last time lol, but will keep with the B6. How are you feeling this time around? My doctor agreed to hear me out and take me in today for a very early check, not sure if they will test HCG progression this early, but hoping so, alternatively they will just subtly tell me I am crazy and to go home :).

madeleine85 · 27/12/2021 17:47

It is also so lovely to know there are so many mums due around the same time/also 4th of Sep! When I had DD I didn't know MN existed, and it would have been so helpful. Hope you are all feeling chuffed with your holiday present BFPs and are enjoying this time x

309SJ · 27/12/2021 18:05

Thank you! That is great advice, I’ll try and find some groups for those expecting in September - It would be lovely to make some friends. It would be lovely if someone here made one 😍Congratulations to you too - is there anywhere I can find out what all the acronyms mean? I have no idea what BFP means haha x

GivenchyDahhling · 27/12/2021 18:28

Not too much in the way of symptoms yet, I’m full of cold so don’t want to confuse the tiredness with just normal under the weather-ness! Only change is a very twinges/little cramps and also Diet Coke tastes weird, which is exactly what happened with DS1. If this follows the same pattern as DS1 I will soon be off tea and coffee completely and will have major tiredness and feelings of sickness without actually being sick. I escaped relatively easily with DS1 so if it does end to being the same that’s a blessing!

Congrats to everyone else who has joined, lots of 4th Septembers!

Interested to know if there are any other teachers, it is obviously our major plan in life to make sure we get pregnant in September for an extra long summer holiday merging into mat leave Grin

@309SJ It’s Big Fat Positive - there’s a page, I just Google Mumsnet acronyms when I come across a weird one!

madeleine85 · 27/12/2021 18:31

@309SJ sorry, i kicked around the conception threads for 3 months so I guess some of it stuck lol. BPF is your big fat positive test, which you have by the sounds of it :)

Ladybirdlashes · 27/12/2021 18:34

@GivenchyDahhling teacher here! Couldn’t have timed it better Grin looking forward to it this time as with dd I worked to 38weeks.

madeleine85 · 27/12/2021 18:36

@GivenchyDahhling wow, that is incredible, enjoy that mat leave, the payoff for teaching!!

I am the unfortunate Brit at this point who lives in the USA as I'm married to an American. My paid mat leave will likely be 8 weeks, which is better than the last time (I need to move home lol). I am also the only person running a huge chunk of my company's businss, so hoping I can negotiate a weird setup where I take 4 months part time or something instead of 2 months off, as I really don't think I could take more than 2 weeks out in a row without coming back to a complete disaster. The upside is the prenatal care is great here and that is fully insurance covered, the downside is the birth/post care is expensive as all hell. At times I really do miss the NHS!

GivenchyDahhling · 27/12/2021 18:37

@Ladybirdlashes Ahh teaching at 38 weeks must have been a PITA. Is the union/COVID guidance still to WFH for the third trimester? I haven’t kept up with it all to be honest. You’re going to have a lovely summer though as long as not tooooo hot!

OP posts:
GivenchyDahhling · 27/12/2021 18:39

Ahhh @madeleine85 that’s unfortunate, it’s absolutely incredible that a country like the US has such terrible maternity provision. From some of what I’ve read 8 weeks is on the generous side too.

madeleine85 · 27/12/2021 18:56

@GivenchyDahhling yeah its so awful, glad to have a supportive OH so that really helps. I should have stayed home and done teaching :)

Whoknew22 · 27/12/2021 18:58

@Tempusfudgeit I had a scan at 7+3 with my little one. Was comforting seeing the heart beat, even although I couldn’t make anything out it was comforting.

@309SJ welcome to the amazing emotional rollercoaster.

Congratulations to everyone. Glad to be on board and to share it all. I’ve had lots of cramping and that’s about it. I remember having this last time. It still doesn’t feel real to be honest

surprised12 · 27/12/2021 19:30

Hi all, just joining in. I'm due at the very end of August/ early Sept as along as all goes well. Second pregnancy, but unfortunately lost the last one at 12 weeks.
Hoping this bean sticks around, so trying to relax, not obsessively test and let things progress along.
Congratulations to you all :)

buttercuplizzy · 27/12/2021 19:35

At 4+4 I have no symtomps other than fatigue/drowsiness... which i think is due to the pre-emptive antiemetic medication I've started. With DS1 nausea kicked in at 6DPO, so I'm doing good so far compared to that!

I'm not a teacher.... but DS1 is August and DD1 is October, so we ideally wanted either September or November.

kitty1993 · 27/12/2021 19:44

Finally home from the in laws and been able to do another test (12dpo) and very glad to see it's much darker even at 5pm 😃😃
It's so exciting to see how many people have joined over the last few days.
Anyone else worried about being heavily pregnant over the summer?? Luckily I work from home so at least I can sit about in hot pants and a baggy T-shirt! 😂

Tempusfudgeit · 27/12/2021 20:03

I'm moving 450 miles in June when I'll be (hopefully) 6 months pregnant. At least I'll have a reason not to lift anything heavier than the kettle!

GivenchyDahhling · 27/12/2021 20:10

@kitty1993 I was pregnant summer 2019, I can’t remember it being excessively hot, however, I absolutely adored these Twisty lollies Morrisons sold, other shops had versions but the Morrisons version was the best; at one point DH was driving around every Morrisons in East London trying to track them down for me! This year I will stock up well in advance.

buttercuplizzy · 27/12/2021 20:23

@kitty1993 ive been heavily pregnant twice over summer, and its not too bad. Had one incident where my very hot and poorly ventilated office made me have heavy braxton hicks and caused me to get very light headed...i think summer is a bonus though as dont need to go ott on maternity clothes I.e. I just had a few cheapie dresses.

madeleine85 · 27/12/2021 20:56

@kitty1993 I think I see mine too, but with a variety of tests (attached).

I'd say if you're pregnant over the summer just make sure you drink plenty of water. Increasing your intake generally helps you get used to the increased amount you will need if you choose to breastfeed anyway. I got massively dehydrated at week 32 in the heat, went for what was going to be my final bootcamp one day, and a hike the next when it was very hot. The night of the hike my mucus plug came out and I started going into labour. I had no idea that you could dehdrate a baby out of you, and i'm very nervous to go through this a second time because of it. Drink all the water honestly the best advice I could give :)

Hey everyone,
Congrats on the BFPs!
Hope you don't mind me jumping on. I got my first ever BFP on Christmas Eve following our first round of IVF. I will be due around 3rd September :)

GivenchyDahhling · 27/12/2021 21:22

Oh wow, congratulations @LSL0708 - what a wonderful Christmas present for you!

reremum2b · 27/12/2021 21:40

Hi everyone I hope it's okay to join in, I had my BFP on 21st and if I've figured it out right my due date is 31st august and if he/she is anything like me they are likely to be late so thought September would be a safer target 😂 very nervous/excited

Congratulations everyone! Would love to join the thread. Got my BFP yesterday at 11dpo… think I ovulated on 16 Dec. So due maybe 8/9 Sep? Still in shock tbh! First time being pregnant, we’ve been trying since Sep. Current symptoms are cramping and sensitive boobs, but did have pink spotting a few days ago. Been having vivid dreams too!
My issue is I’m a massive pessimist and suffer with anxiety so I imagine the next few days/weeks being a challenge 😬 Anyone else similar?
