@czycoup ah you’re already a mum - congrats on this pregnancy! :)

Yeah I couldn’t wait either, I’ve had so few symptoms (just this darned blocked ear) and can’t feel anything yet so I had the scan for peace of mind and to confirm gender. It was good! Had it at my local Window to the Womb - in and out in 20mins.

czycoup · 02/01/2022 20:26

Yeah I am, but it was quite a while ago and I've forgotten everything and I'm at a different hospital trust so it feels all new. I know I felt some movements about 15/16 weeks which was super early for a first, but I've felt nothing and it's supposed to be sooner with a second pregnancy. I've also had quite a few losses in the last year or so and I think that makes me even more anxious. I'll be ok once I can feel regular kicks etc

Rolledthedice · 02/01/2022 20:47

@czycoup so sorry to hear about your early losses, totally understandable that you would rather feel baby sooner rather than later. Perhaps a private scan can provide some reassurance in the meantime. I’m sure everything is all good, it’s just disconcerting when we can’t feel anything isn’t it! It’s so hard not to let our anxieties get the better of us.

czycoup · 02/01/2022 21:07

@Rolledthedice thank you.

It's such a weird time between 12 weeks and 20 isn't it.

I'm not sure about a private scan, when I went before thats when we found out the baby's heart had stopped. But I got to think positive and trust all is well!

Clueless22 · 03/01/2022 09:27

Morning ladies, quick question re discharge? Are you getting a lot more of this? Mine is clear and watery and I think that's normal, seems to be a lot more in the evening. Dr Google depending on what you type in has an explanation for a good sign and a bad sign so thought I'd reach out to you guys x

unknownscot · 03/01/2022 10:40

@Clueless22
Yeah i definitely have noticed an increase. Having lots of cramping too. It's a worry but I'm sure it'll be fine!

pregnancydiaries · 03/01/2022 10:52

@Clueless22 I’ve had an increase in discharge from very early on and it’s definitely getting more prominent now (16weeks) but I’ve also been in hospital a few times with HG so have had a number of scans and tests etc and everything is fine if that gives you any reassurance xxx

Northofthebordermum · 03/01/2022 11:11

Hi all! 14w5 days here and just coming on for a small rant 🤣 I thought by now I’d have more energy (2nd trimester with my DS was great) but the last week I have been SO exhausted. Can barely get out of bed, it’s so frustrating!
Was worried I had covid but have tested negative. Guess I’m just older (38) this time round and with a toddler to look after too- and I don’t sleep well… anyway really hoping I’m going to start feeling a bit more perky soon. Can’t face another 6 months of this!

Clueless22 · 03/01/2022 11:46

@unknownscot and @pregnancydiaries phew glad it's not just me.
I've also experienced cramping the last week or so which had eased up a little the last few days. I hope its the uterus expanding but again depending on what you put into Dr Google it can be a good or a bad sign. X

pregnancydiaries · 03/01/2022 11:55

@Clueless22 @unknownscot I’ve had cramping throughout but got to try and remember our tummy’s are going to be doing a lot of growing so I think it’s to be expected! EPU say that it’s nothing to worry about unless it’s very severe cramps xxx

czycoup · 03/01/2022 12:43

@Northofthebordermum omg same here! I'm so glad my husband gets it and lets me sleep when I can. I do feel slightly better than the first trimester but my sleep is all over the place!

MrsTwentyNine · 03/01/2022 13:21

Boy here!! Any other boys ??

To whoever asked about placenta positioning, they told me at my private 16 week scan it's posterior but said nothing at 12.

Imhereforthecake · 03/01/2022 14:53

Boy for us Smile

czycoup · 03/01/2022 15:10

@MrsTwentyNine that was me- thank you!

We aren't going to find out but I have a gut feeling it's a boy. Either way I don't mind

Flowerbug1994 · 03/01/2022 15:33

I had scan 2 weeks ago and I think it’s safe to say am completely confident that am having a boy from his potty shot 😂😂😂

EarlGreywithLemon · 03/01/2022 16:09

@MrsTwentyNine, @Imhereforthecake, @Flowerbug1994 boy here too, according to the NIPT. Unless the 20 week scan shows otherwise! Though that’s unlikely, given the NIPT is 99% accurate on the sex.

unknownscot · 03/01/2022 17:53

Has anyone starting buying big stuff yet? I've been looking online but not in store yet. X

EarlGreywithLemon · 03/01/2022 18:24

@unknownscot that’s what I did in the first pregnancy- lots of online research first and made most of our choices. We did a trip to the shops to further narrow down choices at about 28 weeks - Iargely for big things like the pram/ Moses basket/ Snuzpod.
I found it very helpful to also speak to friends who had children and make a very comprehensive list of everything I thought we needed. That really helped too.
We did have a John Lewis nursery appointment but by that point we’d done lots of research so it didn’t tell us much we didn’t know. It was very useful for trying on baby carriers and looking at car seats though.
We ordered everything online at 30 weeks ish. Online was easier for findings things in stock, getting the best prices, and also easier delivery!

fpeg · 03/01/2022 18:30

@unknownscot we've found a travel system in the sales, only has to pay a deposit, rest is due in March for delivery in April, which odd close enough that I'm happy with it. Otherwise we've started making a list of required things and as we research online are saying our preferred brands to each item. Plan to start actually buying from the list after about 28 weeks 😊

MrsNT · 03/01/2022 21:04

John lewis have good sale right now on baby stuff and Im tempted to buy their baby sleepsuits. But then I think its too soon

czycoup · 03/01/2022 21:06

I've not even thought about buying anything. As this is my second I have some stuff already which I'm going to get cleaned and reuse.

I think I'm going to buy minimal stuff then do some online shopping during the late night feeds 😴

EarlGreywithLemon · 03/01/2022 21:18

@fpeg that’s what we did with putting our preferred brands on our list - worked really well. We could then tick items off as we bought them.

EarlGreywithLemon · 03/01/2022 21:21

@MrsNT we found John Lewis sleepsuits (the three pack ones) were very good and washed well. Baby 2 will hopefully wear them now.

MrsNT · 03/01/2022 21:28

@czycoup 1st baby here but will also buy minimal as I have seen things going to waste with my nephews. Im thinking 8 or 9 sleepsuits for new born stage and then about 10 or 12 for 0 to 3 months? Plus everyone gives gifts aswell dont they

czycoup · 03/01/2022 21:32

@MrsNT yeah, we got so many clothes with my first that some didn't even get used. Plus, they more or less stay in a sleep suit for the first few weeks (well, mine did anyway).
