Hi Girls, I started feeling what I think was movement on 22nd December felt like a big roll in my stomach. From then I’ve had little bits like rolling feeling when I’ve drank a sugary fizzy drink or something. But the past few days I can’t work out if am getting movements or if it’s my stomach rumbling even when am not hungry. I’ve took the 111 quiz and that said anything under 20 weeks can be irregular. What would you girls do will the maternity assessment unit even do anything am 17+2 today ??

fpeg · 02/01/2022 11:02

@Clueless22 I'm a first timer (IVF) and I think what you are feeling is completely normal. I worried when symptoms started to disappear, for me, my week 16 appointment came just in time and hearing that heartbeat really helped with the reassurance! I felt first movements the following week but (@Flowerbug1994) they've been very irregular and it's only the last three days I've definitively felt something every day. I found the Tommys website really useful as well. In short I think what you are both feeling is normal and I'm sure we'll all soon be wishing our little ones wouldn't kick us in the ribs/bladder quite so much 😂

Flowerbug1994 · 02/01/2022 11:25

@fpeg thanks for your reply. I think am feeling something everyday but I don’t know weather it’s my digestive track like food moving through or it’s my bowels or what. I just can’t wait to feel definite kicks so that I know then that he is ok. I think I’ll just see what I feel until Tuesday then if am still anxious get in touch with my midwife. In my area midwives don’t listen in to baby until 24 weeks which doesn’t help my anxiety.

17+5 have not felt anything definite that might suggest baby kicks. Trying not to worry too much as I know that everyone is different, pregnancies are different and some feel baby kicks after 20 weeks, or even later. It's not the sign that something is wrong just that we are all different.

EarlGreywithLemon · 02/01/2022 13:26

@MrsNT we will tell her after the 20 week scan I think. She’s only 2 so she won’t understand that much anyway, plus by then my bump should be bigger and we’d have confirmation that he’s a boy (and, fingers crossed, that everything is OK).

EarlGreywithLemon · 02/01/2022 13:27

Flowers to all of you while have covid. Our little one is due back at nursery on Tuesday and our area has been a bit of a black spot for cases so far. I also have a heart condition, so I won’t lie, I’m pretty worried.

Morning all! Book recommendation to share: I've just finished 'expecting better' and am now reading 'crib notes' by the same author. It looks at the first 3 years of parenting from an evidence-based perspective, and is super interesting.

Bango2019 · 02/01/2022 14:21

@rathernotshare how are you getting on? How are you feeling?

Prema112 · 02/01/2022 15:15

Anyone else having daily naps? Not sure how work is gonna fit into this routine next week Hmm

rathernotshare · 02/01/2022 16:15

@Bango2019 I'm ok thank you for asking ☺️ taking it one day at a time!

Olive60 · 02/01/2022 16:41

@matilda30 We have 4 girls between us (11, 10, 8, 5 in age)...They all want a baby sister! Which shocked me. I'm also extremely close to my niece & nephew so I told them at the same time and they're also rooting for a girl!
We both would love a boy but of course will be happy either way!

2nd pregnancy @ 15 weeks Id say I'm not feeling any movement yet but more a tightening I can also feel where abouts baby is when its moved. I do have a doppler (I know, frowned upon!) And can easily find the heatbeat now (again don't reccomend) 6 days until my gender scan!

EarlGreywithLemon · 02/01/2022 16:44

@Prema112 yep! Napping next to our two year old every day. Asking myself the same…

InvisibleDragon · 02/01/2022 16:47

@mrkb @MrsNT I found this article quite helpful for modifying yoga. Did the first day of the 30 days challenge today - turned cobras into up dogs, stayed on my knees for the 3-legged dog and some of the planks.

Interestingly, I also did a regular workout (lower body and core) and found this much easier than the yoga. Felt really stiff and unbalanced for the yoga but no issues with squats, lunges etc. Feel like my legs may be a bit stiff tomorrow, but it felt really good to stretch out some of the kinks in my back!

fpeg · 02/01/2022 16:49

@RoseValleyRambles I literally shared the same recommendation a couple of days ago 😁 it's been a great (and sometimes surprising) read and I feel much better informed about making my own decisions about what I want to do in my pregnancy ☺️ I haven't started crib sheets yet... that's next up 😁

Rolledthedice · 02/01/2022 17:07

@rathernotshare I’m glad you’re doing ok and taking one day at a time, you’ve been through so much already!

I saw someone asking about sex of babies in this thread. I’m just back from 16+6 week scan and it’s definitely a girl! Very pleased it matches the NIPT. :) I also have anterior placenta which explains why I’ve not felt anything yet. One thing that I wish they hadn’t told me (since I believe it doesn’t matter at this stage?) is that the baby is breech. Looking for reassurance that this is totally normal as they move about loads this trimester?!

RoseValleyRambles · 02/01/2022 17:21

@fpeg It's so good. I've just finished the chapter on breastfeeding which was not what I expected. It's also quite nice not to be thinking about the pregnancy for once, but what comes after.

InvisibleDragon · 02/01/2022 18:05

Bother, forgot the link in my last post:

EarlGreywithLemon · 02/01/2022 19:23

@Rolledthedice don’t give the baby’s position even a second thought right now! They have lots of room and move around a lot at this point, as you say. Our daughter was in lots of positions in scans, including in the third trimester. No one batted an eyelid until very late on. She was head down well in time for the birth.

Rolledthedice · 02/01/2022 19:47

Thank you for the reassurance @EarlGreywithLemon - that’s good to know! :) I was feeling pretty relaxed about pregnancy but now I’m nervous about the anterior placenta too argh. This is why Dr Google is a terrible idea. 🙈 Even though it’s my first birth and I’ll be 37 when it happens, I’m still hoping I can have a straightforward pregnancy with a home birth (not the norm I know). But having the anterior placenta position is making me doubt this hmm.

czycoup · 02/01/2022 19:58

Hi, I hope someone sees this cos I've tried to message here and I seem to get lost lol

Does everyone know where their placenta is? I wasn't told at my 12 week scan x

Rolledthedice · 02/01/2022 20:14

@czycoup don’t worry, nobody at my NHS 12 week scan mentioned placenta location! I chose to have a private scan today, and it was on my report. I don’t know if NHS mentions it until further along. I’ve also read it can migrate and move as it grows anyway.

mrkb · 02/01/2022 20:15

@czycoup I have no idea where my placenta is - wasn't told at my 12 week scan and didn't know it was a thing until recently. I assume if it becomes an issue I will be told at some point.

czycoup · 02/01/2022 20:15

@Rolledthedice thanks for your reply.

I can't remember when I was told in my first pregnancy but I see a few people here mention it.

How was your private scan? I'm thinking about getting one myself because I'm not sure I can wait until 20 weeks.

czycoup · 02/01/2022 20:17

@mrkb thanks for replying too. Glad it's not just me!
